Buzz, regarding settings, your seat height should be hip high. I want to say mine is 32-34 or something. Distance with the seat from handlebars should be the length of your arm from your elbow to the tip of your fingers. And handlebar height for me is high as it goes.
Good stuff man. Hopefully I'll get some good help when it's delivered. Got a call today to schedule delivery. Earliest is Sat. After that next day is week from Tues. Ready to get this thing going!
15.61 miles 520kj on the ride. I think I ran a little under 4.5 on the run. Did both on thanksgiving.
What am I looking at here? It’s certainly not the Turkey Burn ride, which I just completed, and kicked your shit in on.
My best ride which kills your bulimic or is it anorexic ass. Also I did the turkey ride after I ran 4.5 so yeah buddy get on my level. Chop stick legged mother fucker.
You know Elon is a minority owner in Pelo, right? He’s been very instrumental in the bike’s design and UX.
Next time I come to Houston I gotta buy you a beer. This is gonna be great. Guess I gotta change my user name on strava to Chad “The GOAT” Morris.
Hello Fit Gentlemen of the thread. I feel like I'm getting fat as fuck. I have a gym down in my building and I have a member to a full lifetime fitness 100 feet from my doorstep but I mainly just go there to lift. A lot of it is diet and just being super busy with work (for instance yesterday I was at the hospital at 6am and left at 9pm only to come home to do 2 hours worth of paperwork) but I'm trying to think of any way possible to jump start my fat ass back into fitness. I have a trainer stand for my bike but that thing is incredibly noisy and I'm thinking if I have a peloton or (if its not worth it) a spin bike I pick up from craigslist for cheap sitting in my living room I can do it while I'm watching TV or whatnot. 2200 vs 120 bucks is hard to justify. Its also that I tell myself I will work out in the morning but I hate leaving my apartment and getting out of bed and I tell myself maybe if I can do it in the comfort of my own home I will do it. Peloton, cheap spin bike from craigslist or just give up you fat fuck.
Peloton. No interest financing over three years makes it easier to swallow the cost. Join the Strava group and let the thread hold you accountable. Stop being lazy.
WillieHuff, my story is well documented here but I lost 60 pounds from spin and a moderate-carb diet. It works if you put in the work.
You need to start using one of the two fitness centers near you and get into a routine. Then look at getting the Peloton. If you don’t you’ll just continue to find a reason not to use the Peloton but with close to $4000 purchase starring at you. Not trying to be a dick because you’re the only one who truly knows if you’ve got legit reasons or are just making excuses. FWIW an exercise bike vs a Peloton isn’t close its worth the extra money if you’re going to use it.
Yeah I know. The classes would be awesome and I actually really enjoyed spin classes when I was down in miami and would go to equinox; the gym I go to just doesn't offer them when it's convenient for me. I don't have a contract there so I could drop it whenever I just love having a ton of benches and squat racks. My apartment gym is okay but nothing special. I really want something to be able to sit on a bike even if its just a gentle pace while I'm playing Black Ops or doing dictations or watching a movie (I'm single and don't have a roommate so I don't think that's weird). My trainer stand for my bike is just too loud. Anything to keep me active.
The point of the Peloton (imo) is the classes which aren’t really conducive to doing other things like you mentioned while taking them. You can use it as just an exercise bike but to me the classes get you the best workouts.
I have TV on while taking classes and glance over at the TV during pushes. But I’ll say that my output is always higher when the TV is off.
Ready to get back into the swing of things. I’ve barley ridden since my daughter was born 4 months ago. What’s the deal with the challenges I saw in email? Anything else cool I’ve missed? Can’t wait to retest my powerzones and see how much I’ve lost. WillieHuff got my motivation fires going again
Challenges are basically goals to achieve during the month so far just days you work out and distance you ride. They’ve added programs (classes specifically for particular goals) they also just added floor programs (strength) which I think are cool.
Bike delivered just now. Real great service from XPO. They brought it up the stairs, plugged it in the wall, told me I needed to setup my Wi-Fi for it to work and left. Didn't do anything to the bike or explain anything. They put it on the mat half ass and left.
They couldn't have done less. What advice did you give again as far as getting the bike adjusted for my height etc?
Seat should be hipbone high so it will vary. Mine is like a 27 or 28. Bend your arm into a 90 degree angle and put your elbow at the very front of the seat — move the seat back until your fingertips touch the handlebars. Handlebar height should probably be as high as it goes. Also, don’t be discouraged by not being able to clip in or out. It takes time getting used to how to do it, but you’ll figure it out. I’d suggest the beginner rides just to get a feel for the bike (in and out of the saddle), what resistance/cadence is your flat road and what increasing the resistance feels like. You can also do a scenic or metrics ride if you want to log time but don’t want to try a class.
There should be an introduction video that will show you how to properly fit your bike. I’d recommend going to a showroom if there is one near you. Also to unclip think putting out a cigarette on the ground the way people smash and rub them into the ground with their foot. Toe in heel out.
I'm pretty sure there is an intro video on it where it says how to fit your bike. I think it's Jennifer Jacobs or HMC that does it.
