"This four week program will take you through a series of core focused workouts that will increase in intensity." You're being lied to.
Broke down and bought the Bike+. It’s getting delivered Monday the 28th. What are the dos and don’ts? I’m trying to improve core strength, endurance, flexibility, and maybe get a more cut six-pack.
I got mine 2 weeks ago and some will probably say to start with the Mastering the Basics class, but I just jumped right in. I started with advanced beginner 30 min rides for the first couple to get the hang of it and have been bouncing around trying different instructors since. Only am going to use it for cycling for now, but I’d imagine the other work outs are also high quality. Bought a cycling mat and shoes off Amazon and they seem to work fine.
Given you seem like you are already in great shape yeah mastering the basics probably not necessary. I would just do a few advanced beginner courses like said above. Other than that based on what you want out if it don’t overdo the bike. I do a short warm up ride on the days I focus on other stuff. But for core/flexibility/strength just use the Yoga and various strength courses.
I will say six weeks for the beginner program is a lot. I’m glad I started it, just to learn how to operate the bike, but one beginner ride would have been plenty. I have OCD about stuff, so I have to finish it now. But definitely not needed.
I will still be going to my gym 3-4 days a week for weight training, just wanted another avenue. The wife will probably use it a lot, too, which has more benefits for me lol
I was doing the same before my bike arrived. Riding very quickly cannibalized my weight lifting. You’re going to love it.
Does anyone in the thread also ride road bikes? Wondering what peloton resistance would be comparable to a flat road. Thinking of starting to ride when I get done with my doctorate.
I do. There really isn’t one because there are so many variables and we are all different. My flat road on the bike is about 40.
yeah I’d think 40 one of the big things is wind. Riding against the wind is something you don’t account for even on a flat road.
Yeah. I know it will never replicate actual road riding, but I figure if I can get close enough to actual resistance, I would be good practice. Similar to running on a 1 - 2 incline on the treadmill is decent “practice” for road running.
i love road cycling. I am a novice. I think most of my rides were around the 25 mile range on a mostly flat beach trail. I have a hybrid bike with hybrid peddles. Those rides took about 2 hours because of a lot of different things. That’s honestly why I never needed bike shorts for the peloton. When you’ve been in the saddle for 2-3 hours a 30-45 minutes doesn’t seem like anything. What sucks is like like to peloton, outdoor cycle and run. I had to pick one to focus on because doing all three and you don’t improve enough on any not sure if that makes sense.
Absolutely. I’m kind of in the same boat. It’s tough to find time to run, lift, ride, school work, and have some semblance of a normal life.
My goal is to stay consistent on the peloton and if I do then I’ll look into a road bike in the spring.
I've been riding since May of last year and just realized over the last week or so my seat has been too low. Moved from 29 to a 32 and feel so much better. I get a lot more oompf out of my pedal strokes (unsurprisingly).
lol sometimes I think it would be easier to become a tv husband and say fuck it and get fat. But then my grandson walks in to the room when I am lifting and I can ask him if he wants tickets Then I think about my granddaughter that’s about ro be born and know I have to still lift for at least ten more years or she won’t get the joke then I realize fuck getting fat Andy Reocho did you get the Nike cycling shoes? My boy got me these for Father’s Day
Happy Fathers Day! I did get a pair, but my dumbass didn't order the cleats/clip ons as well, and now we're in the middle of a out of state move, so I haven't got to use yet.
Not Peloton related exactly, but… Just called up my local bike shop to schedule some service on my mountain bike rim. Without thinking I blurted out, “yes, I’d like to schedule a rim job.”
Just did a ride with Cody. He’s interesting. Like his spunk, don’t like his music choices in my 3 classes lol
30 minute pop punk ride from 4/21. I don’t do a lot of 30 minute rides, but it’s one of my favorites of any length.
Was that the one that had the Brand New, Taking Back Sunday, Jimmy Eat World, etc. songs? I chuckled that Kendall would play a song by Brand New ('canceled' band due to lead singer's early 2000s behavior) and Misery Business ('canceled' Paramore song they don't play live anymore because of being degrading to women), my guess is she just has no clue on those things.
I've come to terms with the fact that my weight will always fluctuate between "small gut" and "big gut" no matter how much I exercise because I just like beer and pasta too much to ever get super fit.
Mac from Always Sunny put it best and I paraphrase “ it’s easy to get a body like he did. all you have to do is workout 5-6 hours a day, have a personal chief, never drink anything but water and have a studio pay for it”
Fuck car drivers. Decided to go on a outdoor ride instead of pelotoning. Was almost killed fucked up my calf. Slammed my back on the curb and like a dumbass since it happened so close to my house I went home jumped on my peloton and think I made my injury worse.
Been doing the build your power zone program. Really enjoying it, but 60 minute rides absolutely destroy me.
I know we have many Jess King haters but damn they ain’t bee stings . Andy Reocho have you tried the Nike cycling shoes yet? I got the clips put in yesterday. Bike shop dudes were kinda douches about peloton. Assumed I didn’t know the clips were “deltas”
was kinda of a recovery day today so I did her new recovery ride and honestly it wasn’t bad. BTW love Nike cycling shoes. Honestly don’t know if it’s because my peloton ones are 3 and a half years old and I needed an upgrade but these felt a lot more comfortable and true to size. Got out the saddle a couple times and felt a noticeable difference in cushion on the soles.
