https://www.cnbc.com/2022/01/18/pel...-cost-structure-as-equipment-sales-slow-.html Yeah it's going to get ugly
I sold the last of my stock right before the last earnings call for about $90/share. Made a decent little profit. Two days later it was sub $50. If I was still holding I’d be approaching a $100k loss. It’s better to be lucky than good.
I would imagine the instructors are low in the pecking order due to their visibility. Especially the OGs.
I’ve been on the fence on buying our own bike instead of using the one in our community gym, especially because someone keeps managing to break the pedals. The $250 delivery fee starts 1/31, so going to decide before then, but I also don’t have high hopes that the monthly subscription stays at $39 for much longer as that seems like the next obvious revenue stream
That’s the most ridiculous part of the article. You don’t need studios, their apparel is overpriced and they don’t have enough bikes in hotels. They focus a lot on the talent (and with literally no turnover) and have been pretty reckless with their spending elsewhere.
In retrospect, it does seem like pretty much anyone who was going to get one got one in the early days of the pandemic. After that, if you want growth, you've gotta invent something else to sell them. The merch has always been overpriced and they haven't managed to make it "cool" to wear it as a fashionable brand in public.
I’m wondering if it would be tiered to start out, something like keep it as is for one household user, then $49 for multiple users
That’s how they usually introduce things I think. They did that with Barre. They tape a group of them, release them. Then wait until later to do more. I’d expect more to drop unless they weren’t happy with their reception. One of the new instructors, Rad, I think taught boxing classes beefier he was hired.
I know they do it a lot but its so stupid. Don't get me into something then wait 3-4 months to put more of it out. By then I'm probably not going to go back to doing those classes as much.
Was talking to my friend earlier and obviously this is the opposite of what they want to do, but it’d be nice if they had tiered options, so if you just wanted to do on-demand make it like 29.99, live classes 39.99, X amount of users 49.99, etc.
My bike is paid off. The digital only membership is about $30 a month cheaper. They raise the price I’ll go solely digital. I’d imagine a lot of people would too. Currently I don’t know what the benefit of staying on the bike membership is other than distance tracking. Having the bike I can follow the numbers they call be my doing “just ride” workouts on the bike and hailing the class on my iPad.
at this point I just do rides based on playlists. And if nothing good has come out in the past few days, I will just return to an old ride. The artist series is fine, but I tend to avoid them as I don't want to hear them talk nonstop about the artist. Just give me the music.
Yeah but I already have the iPad holder so for me it wouldn’t be that big a deal. I also have the app on my Apple TV and I could just do it from there since I have my bike in a place I can see my TV. But, this is only if they raised the price of bike membership and kept digital at the same price. Call me cheap or broke whatever you want but it would be hard to justify $40 a month more for the same product.
Oh yeah, I was just pointing out that I think you’d be in the minority of people dropping all the way to digital.
Yeah that’s why I said it’d be the opposite of what they do, but would just be nice for tiered options. I’ll do scenic rides for a cheaper monthly fee just out of spite lol
Yep. I bought the bike+ so I can walk downstairs and turn the screen on and go. 1 out of every 2 times I’d grab the tablet it either wouldn’t be charged, need an update, or a kiddo around the house would want paw patrol or blippi. The convenience/time saving of the current set up is by far the most part important to me.
So with Peloton stock tanking and halting production...all of those other copycats are going to go out of business probably? And maybe they'll stop sending me ads everyday? Looking at you Boxing Fighting thing whose name I dont remember.
I did this the other day. To be fair I came in thinking I wanted a recovery day but ended up wanting to go harder
Okay guys, what basic rountine maintenance things do I need to do to my bike that I am not doing? I wipe down the whole area after each use and make sure the pedals/my cleats on my shoes are tight…Any big things you do once a month or so?
You dont have to worry about the pedals so much. Thats after long term use that they get loose. On my mtn bike I haven’t adjusted them in over 4 years but I use spd style cleats for them.
Been gone for awhile. Had a knee injury and finally had surgery about a month ago. Getting back into it. Unfortunately, I enter the thread and the company looks like a dumpster fire. My bike is paid off next month. Sounds like it might be a brick soon.
bike doesn’t brick FWIW. You do “just ride” workouts without the subscription. Felt bad that I said I’d do this and haven’t. But, I can’t bring myself to do an hour ride with her. I will do hour rides on Saturday. First hour ride in a long time. My PR for hour is over 700 and I am still amazed and some of the numbers I put up.
Finally back at it. Going to try to stay commuted by doing the new beginner 3week program before going back to power zone.
I see they are finally adding an Eminem series. Sucks the only two bike rides I see so far are Dennis and some German guy (no offense to him I just wouldn’t understand him). Dennis will talk through the whole damn thing.
