Lol only you would start on a metal ride. You can also see the difficulty rating that others gave it on the class when you click it and scroll down. I'd definitely recommend avoiding some of the higher ones (>8.0 usually tells me that it's going to be tough) until you get more used to the bike.
Yeah feels like time is ticking unfortunately. No idea how it is possible when you look at the subscription earnings either. Just stop trying to be some huge conglomerate and focus on being the best niche and just take in the subscription revenue. Just horrendous decisions made during COVID.
The CEO inherited a mess. Seems like they're trending in a better direction with their inventory but There's been so many WTF business decisions. It's crazy to have those prices on a treadmill and a rower. I've noticed and From reading seems they're pulling down classes still at a good clip starting with the music purge in 2019. And doesn't seem like they're really pumping classes out at the same place as they used to. Seems to be a lot less PZ and longer classes. Also Can't imagine how much their new NY office/studio is costing.
They’ve realized that the only people buying a tread and a rower are hooked on the platform anyway. They are priced to ensure a profit because pricing at a comparable price point to competition won’t actually drive incremental unit volumes.
They pay huge money for talent that seems to always be on vacation. They could halve in the instructors with so little loss.
Do you have evidence of that? The CEO claims the talent is cheap and all the money they show on IG and other platforms is from outside engagements which Peloton’s reach allows them to achieve far more than any other platform.
The talent could be cheap, but a 3.7% increase in new subscribers isn’t worth very much if the people I’ve hired to work aren’t working.
The average I read is around 250k and a few get over half a million. It's definitely not the easiest job but there is plenty of bloat there. They don't need that many instructors.
Personally, I would be happy with like 5 or 6 instructors total. And that’s between both the bike and the tread.
This is incredibly subjective. I don't enjoy Cody's rides, for instance, but there's little question he drives a massive amount of content and interest from multiple focus groups. That doesn't even go into the non-equipment classes like yoga or strength. You could argue that maybe they should look at eliminating those but they'd lose a shit ton of subscriptions if they did. And for better or worse, they've chosen their HQs as NYC and London. Paying instructors much less than they do in those cities and they'd have problems attracting loyal instructors.
Makes sense. But they ready have a pretty good retention rate from what ive read. You'd think they want to bring in more people with the hardware to lock in subscriptions. I can get equipment with comparable specs for 1/3 of the prices and and probably better equipment for 1/2-2/3 of their pricing. Yeah I think salaries are a drop in the bucket compared to everything else. But seems like classes arent put out at the rate that they used to be and that was work less instructors.
There's a few instructors I don't like and a few that kind of annoy me but I still do their classes bc they're difficult. Agree there are positives and negatives about the cities they chose. Also wished they had like a Phoenix or Vegas HQ for us west coasters. Would be cheaper than a CA city and would help cater to different time zones. I haven't done a live class in a few years bc of this.
I can't stand Hannah Corbin's "yassss girl" mentality, Camilla(that body is good enough to drown out her talking for a 5-minute stretch tho) or Bradley Rose(feels like taking a ride with Tebow). They bother me enough that I don't care what the playlist is, I can't do their classes. Still yet to try a Jess King ride.
Emma Kendall AT Dennis Hannah F. Ben Tunde Wife really likes King Love Cody Emma I don't mind Bradley, Leanne, Camila, and Robin. I just don't take them.
I like Robins classes they're difficult but her wear your crown and be a queen theme was just over the top there for a while so I just muted her. I like Wilpers. He doesn't talk too much and is just business and does PZ.
Climbing with Emma while dude from Counting Crows sings about “being in the service of the queen” just hits different.
That’s a first. Had to abandon the cool down minute to throw up a little bit of breakfast. Finishing off 45 minutes with a sprint less than an hour after a moderately heavy breakfast was duuuumb
Just took the class where Kendall freaked out about the leaderboard name. She was looking damn good that ride
