When I am outside, Garmin maping/gps does that and just gets transferred over to Strava. On Zwift & Rouvy, the courses are set with exact elevation and gradients on them and they transfer over to Strava as well. They also add resistance to the smart trainer so you get a real life feel of increased wattage to go over a hill.
Ordered & delivery Scheduled for Saturday. YNWA you should have some store credit headed your way, so buy something sexy
Just did a 20 min beginners class with her to help with my hangover and get me over the 100 mile mark for the week.
Damnit, each time I come in this thread I get a little closer to getting one. Does anyone use this without the subscription? Or are there any options out there of using this w/o the subscription? Maybe a dumb question but I man bike occasionally, do spin classes translate to actual better biking stamina or is it just a cardio workout?
What exactly are you asking? There is an app that you can use which (if you don’t have a bike) is like $13 a month. Plenty of people use spin/indoor trainers to train in the off season. I’d assume it should help a bit a.tramp probably knows more
Bad wording, basically is it worth the 3 year commitment for just the classes or are there other outside videos, like on YouTube for example to use with thwthe bike.
You’d have to hack the monitor or have the bike in a location where you have a tv or something else to stream YouTube. The monitor currently only allows you to stream Peloton content.
If the class is structured properly and fits your goals I am sure you can see great results. I trained to climb mountain passes by using a trainer and getting in HIIT workouts inside. They have helped me to gain both speed and endurance. The workouts I do are structured but I am pretty sure are similar to a spin class. I have the loud music going but instead of an instructor yelling at me to kick it up a bit, the display on my tv tells me to hit a hiher output.
I really like his style. I did one this morning before I left for the airport. It was a 30 min beginner class compared to Emma’s 20 mins and I definitely felt it. So far I really really like this thing. Can’t wait to get the initial training over so I can do some more advanced and live classes.
Was gonna say don’t get the Jess hype, team Hannah. So far Alex is by far my favorite. Dude has kicked my ass.
Lol I meant the Beginner classes. I don’t feel like I am ready for some of the 45 minute classes. And I am out of town most this week which will hinder my ability to hammer out some rides.
The scenery rides are good too, for just finding your form and getting your muscles acclimatized. Try out Hawaii and the Swiss alps
It’s good so far. The only concern is some people claim issues with the pedals getting stripped out of the arms as the arms have the threads inserted rather than set in the metal. I am going to keep an eye on it but otherwise it’s fantastic.
How is the selection of rides on the app for non-Peloton bike users? Still trying to figure out which way I may go on this.
Don’t think they are on the app at least o couldn’t find it on my iPhone app. It’s on the Peloton monitor under “scenic ride”
The on demand seems pretty stacked. I don’t see the scenic rides but each instructor has probably 10-20 “beginner rides”. That was as far as I checked it out. It seems like each instructor will have rides of varying levels.
Go back to class library screen, and it's at the bottom, fourth in the center of featured, class library, live schedule, then scenic.
Yep, you will def get there if you keep it up. That is some good wattage to maintain for 45 mins for a beginner.
Yes thanks to Daniel Ocean i picked up a Wahoo Cadence sensor. The only real tricky part is the resistance. I have to do it by feel rather than having a number. It still kicks my ass though. Today after my ride the rest of the day, standing up and sitting down has been a moment where I say “oh yea that’s sore” The one limit is the cadence sensor doesn’t work real well above 115. I doubt I hit that much but Alex today had a little burn out part and I maxed out the sensor for a second.
Mind linking what you bought? Bike and sensor? I’m close to pulling the trigger, but don’t want a bike if I can’t track effort.
Sure. https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B00XMHI7LC?psc=1&ref=yo_pop_mb_pd Bike https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B00L9XNFPY?psc=1&ref=yo_pop_mb_pd Sensor. I also have the Wahoo HR sensor called the Tickr. Works great with both in the Wahoo app. I also got a mat and a iPad holder but the iPad mount hasn’t arrived yet.
I feel I need to quantify this by admitting I am an idiot but I followed their directions. It comes with a silicone sleeve that has holes for two zip ties which are also included. The instructions say mount the sensor inside the silicone sleeve and mount it with the hole facing the pedal arm. Problem is there is no way to get it out if your battery goes dead unless you cut the zip ties. I can send pics of what it looks like Thursday when I get home but it gives a fairly solid readout and I feel like it’s pretty accurate compared to the beat in the music. Nothing where’s it’s a problem or anything. I also ordered shimano pedals and so it’s mounted to the arm next to a pedal.
PM me when you’re ready to buy the Peloton. I’ll give you my referral code and we will both get free stuff
I’m not going to drop 2k on the peloton. Either getting a trainer for my bike or one of the cheaper stationaries.
