Phoenician. I would say a 15-20 min Uber would be our max. Looking to do some decent dinners so not too worried about price.
You'll probably want to stick to Old Town then. There's basically at least one of anything around there. If there's anything in particular you're looking for I can probably point you in the right direction but I highly recommend FnB, Citizen Public House, and Virtu. Craft 64 is not quite as upscale but has good pizza. Check out Goldwater if you're into beer at all. Hush Public House is excellent but a little further north. Definitely worth the ride though (should be around 20 minutes without traffic).
Headed to Phoenix for the Open and the Super Bowl for a bachelor party. Planning Friday at the 16th hole, then undermined from there. We’re staying what looks to be even distance from Scottsdale and Tempe. Aside from VIP events that have $300 covers, does anyone know what entertainment we can expect around the stadium or elsewhere during that week? Any other tips are appreciated.
Prices everywhere for WM are ridiculous. Can’t even imagine how expensive it will be this year with the SB
plan on getting to the tournament before sunrise unless you want to wait in line an extended period of time if you’re sitting in the stands.
Short ribs or meat loaf. The chopped salad is also excellent and this is coming from someone who never orders salads out.
Out of curiosity, what's your itinerary for the weekend? Super Bowl + WM week is chaos. Guy planning it must have had quite the time. My best friend works for a large liquor distributor there and some of the stuff he's saying is wild. I guess someone rented out all of Maple and Ash for a night next week for $250k. Those bottle service girls who work WM during the day and then go to Bottle Blonde at night are going to clear an easy $50k over the weekend.
The only solid plan we have is WM on Friday. (Does getting there by 5:30 sound about right to get on at 16?) Day drink by the pool Saturday and probably end up in Scottsdale that night. None of us are ‘the planning type’ nor are we difficult to please so open to any suggestions.
I went on Saturday in 2020 and got there around then. Be prepared to full out run to 16 so you can immediately get into the stands. If not, a line forms and you’ll wait a bit to get in. You’ll absolutely get a seat, but maybe not the best spot.
Unless you want some very specific seats I would not worry about obtaining tickets. No one cares about the Diamondbacks or goes to games unless the Dodgers or Cubs are in town.
Yankee fan here. I've been to all of the games they have played out here since I moved (2016 and 2019) and was surprised both times that there weren't more Yankees fans there. Better crowds than usual for sure but both series were midweek and most recently it was a 2 game series with a day game. I'm sure it would look more like Cubs/Dodgers crowds if they came through on a weekend.
Went to one years ago and it was packed. My buddy is a huge Yankees fan and complains about the prices every time he goes.
Staying at the Arizona Biltmore now. Any advice on getting tickets to the Suns game tomorrow? Also, my wife wants us to go Sedona on Monday. I’m figuring since are bodies are still on EST we can make the drive up to be there by 8 am. Any advice for some simpler but great things to see. She’s super fit and im not looking for anything crazy adventurous with a 10 year old as well.
https://www.fs.usda.gov/detailfull/coconino/recreation/?cid=FSEPRD666629 Check out the Doe Mtn Trail, GPS coordinates at the link above. Would try to get there a little before 8 because people will be getting out with the weather finally being really nice. But if you can't park at the trailhead you can still park along the road so it's easily accessible. Not a super challenging hike and yet you'll see tons of great scenery. If you want something more challenging Bear Mtn shares that trailhead and is right across the road
Also look into Red Rock State Park https://azstateparks.com/red-rock And maybe Slide Rock State Park if it's open https://azstateparks.com/slide-rock
Suns tickets are outrageously expensive since KD came here. If you want to go just need to bite the bullet and pay up I've always liked Bell Rock for an easy hike. It's not difficult at all. If you want a sweet view while grabbing lunch go to the Hudson and sit on the back deck
Gonna be down at the ASU Thunderbird Intercollegiate next Friday. Walking 36 holes with Texas, ASU, TTU, OK St, UNC, etc
Ask your concierge about Suns tix and ask about Sedona as well, they might have a sister prop there or a rec for who to ask in Sedona. It will take 2+ hrs. min. to drive there. In Sedona, get maps of the best scenic drives / loops and you can hike where you like. An easy quick vista is the view from the top of Airport Road (I think that's the name). Then drive elsewhere where you can hike to the different vortices. Also, Sedona gets inundated with tourists and traffic can be a mess. Plan accordingly.
agree with Doe. not a crazy trail, has decent parking, and has great views though gains vertical quickly.
Tucson recommendations? Planning on seeing the sunrise at Saguaro NP West on Friday before hopping on a trail Probably can't go wrong with most Mexican options I'm guessing? NYTimes had Tucson on their list of places to see in 2023 with Barrio Viejo one of the neighborhoods mentioned
Breweries Id go with Barrio and Borderlands. Barrio had good food. Mexican places El Charro. Blanco Tacos. El Guero Canelo is pretty popular. Non Mexican-Playground, ZinBurger is good. Lindys or Bison Witches it's downtown. Mt Lemmon is cool drive
Countless good Mexican food options, if you’re gonna be on the west side coming off a hike Seis at Mercado San Augustine or St. Mary’s on, you guessed it, St. Mary’s Road are both legit. Good options across the board depending on what you’re interested in.
I would probably do Rollie’s or el guero canelo for the true Sonoran experience. Tito and Pep is good for small plates.Maynard’s is nice to sit on the patio if the weather is nice. Cartel or Decibel for coffee.
Debbie's Dispensary in North Phoenix has Grow Sciences live resin carts at absolutely incredible prices
Well, I am back for my yearly suggestions of where to eat in Phoenix. Staying at the biltmore again. Really enjoyed citizen public house last time. We are going back. Any suggestions would be great. Thanks again!
The same group behind Citizen has another restaurant, the Gladly, near the Biltmore. Similar menu to Citizen but it is open for lunch. I would try FnB if they're open this time. And since you enjoyed Citizen I think Hush Public House would be a hit. Are you trying to stick in that general area or willing to venture out a bit? Arcadia/Biltmore used to get a lot of the new restaurants but they've started to spread out a bit, especially to downtown Phoenix.
Never been there but I've heard good things. Bourbon and Bones is great, especially for anyone that enjoys whiskey. Mastro's if you really want to throw down some serious change. It's a chain though so I'd defer to one of the other options. Stockyards is also a cheaper (relatively speaking of course) alternative depending on how fancy you're feeling.
