so i pick 3rd in a 12 team league, money on the line, Rb friendly league with 1 pt per 10 yds rushing, 6 for tds.......no points for receptions.....just 1 pt per ten yards receiving......and 1 pt per 25 yds passing with 4 for td thrown......... who should i be looking at? ....I am assuming Peterson will be gone and possibly Turner..... is Jones - Drew my best option at this pick?
That's standard scoring, btw. MJD and Forte are your two options. Forte's the safest pick out of those top 4 guys, so that's who I'd take. I think MJD is going to have a *HUGE* year, but there's still that lingering doubt about whether or not he can carry the load on his own without Fred Taylor there.
i took mjd over turner in my league, with the exact same scoring, fwiw. the falcons play one of the toughest schedules in the league, and turner will struggle to put up the same numbers as last year.
on that same note, Forte and the Bears have on of the easiest and run friendly schedules in the league this year, as do the Vikings
Yep. I think there are only two completely safe RB choices. One being Forte and the other being Brandon Jacobs. You'll miss a game from Jacobs every year, but he's a workhorse, doesn't have Derrick Ward there anymore (though Bradshaw is still a nice option later in drafts), and no one will be stealing his goalline carries anytime soon. Jacobs is one of my favorite value picks towards the beginning of the 2nd round.
in my work league (10 team) I managed to get Jones-Drew, Deangelo Williams, and Steve Slaton with my first three picks.........am i a lock to win?.......I have a much more serious draft on the 7th of Sept. with people that know what is going on.......hence the start of my thread and I pick third in that league.
Just found out that I will also be picking 3rd. Not sure who to go with yet. How many of your first couple picks do you guys use on RBs? Obviously if all the QBs are coming off the board you need to adjust your draft strategy, but I always seem to get a little giddy and try to go after an upper level WR or the best TE, instead of trying to get a serviceable RB for my backups.
Complete misnomer. If all of the QBs are coming off the board, let them. That's just 2-3 more rounds you can wait on drafting your QB because the other teams won't be drafting backups until late. Half of my draft strategy is dependent on all of the other teams having either their TE or QB filled and me being able to wait a few rounds to draft a guy like Jay Cutler as my starter. As for your draft....1 RB and 1 WR in the first two rounds this year. That's the official advice.
So based on everything you've read, you're saying go best RB and best WR? Would it be wrong to go best RB at both spots? It's not a points per reception league, so does that factor into not taking the best QB available for my second pick? So assuming AD goes first, who would you pick at the 3rd spot?
If someone like that drops that far, take him regardless. Other than that, I'd go RB/WR, assuming a big WR you like is available at your spot. Roddy White will likely be there and he's the guy I'm targeting in my big draft where I'm #4 (pick 20 in 2nd round)
