Making my 2nd trip to Europe next month which is more than most people I know that aren’t picky eaters
I missed your score. Are you saying you disprove my theory? I just feel like I came a long way the more I traveled and got used to trying things without necessarily knowing what all’s in it etc. When in Rome and such
I've never been outside of the country and my diet growing up was pretty bland. Score for me was a 1 or 1.5. Sorry about your theory
One outlier case doesn’t disprove a theory. Sorry about your misunderstanding of the concept of theory
Diet was bland growing up and that’s why I eat whatever now I think. Sort of a rejection of years of boring shit. And I’m just morally opposed to food waste and picky eaters.
Grew up eating horrible bland, over cooked food. Everything was always burned and all meat was cooked until well done. I didn’t know steak was good until into my mid to late 20’s when I finally had a good medium cooked steak.
Zero. I’ve eaten bbq’d grasshoppers so there’s no way a raddish is going to keep me down. What a boring list. At least put some real food dilemmas on it and make it interesting.
i legitimately am, yes it’s the only food allergy that i have that i know of, and i like almost every dish that has cabbage in it. i’d just rather not deal with that
Oh that’s how I eat it now for sure. Just saying I’d never had a steak not well done before I ever had a medium so it was a shock to me.
4 Both olives, pickles and raisins Pickles could probably be pulled from my list in certain situations
Now we’re cooking! I dislike it and will probably never eat another stick of it, but I could see myself having a dessert where it’s just one ingredient or a garnish to round out the flavor. I was also thinking of the uncommon proteins—ie, fish eyes, tongues, livers, hearts, kidneys, haggas, blood sausage, etc...—or truely bitter fruits and veggies like chard and noni. I had a fried pigeon in Paris that was dyn-o-mite.
Pigeon was originally brought to the United States as a food animal. Hearts and gizzards are great. Liver is meh. I’ve made venison heart several different ways and it is just lovely.
Different wild game I’ve eaten and liked: Elk Antelope Deer (white tail and mule) Grouse Quail Pheasant Duck Turkey Never had goose, bear, moose, squirrel, or rabbit but I want to change that. Cooked up deer mountain oysters in November. Basted in butter. Those were also great.
brain is for sure where i would draw the line. i'd have to take other stuff on a case by case basis. something like fermented shark, for example, just has zero appeal. and probably a no for stuff that's not really a meal per se, like drinking cobra blood.
0. Those are all pretty common foods. Only things I've ever turned down were for moral reasons. Bosintang (dog soup) and Shark Fin soup. I had beluga once but wouldn't do again. Worst thing was fermented walrus.
This is the rabbit hole this topic sent me down... what would I actually not even try when traveling. I remember being a teenager and watching those “Faces of Death” videos where they locked a monkey into the middle of a table, smashed his head, and then ate the brain. That’s gonna be a no from me dog. Spoiler: super graphic and will make you sad/mad This is the footage, some band I guess used it as a music video actually better than the original audio.
I like pickles and I like fish, but I will not eat pickled fish. I won't try it. That's my line and I don't care. I'll shovel sushi, oysters, shrimp and cooked fish into my mouth with both hands, but fuck a pickled herring. I've had haggis and blood sausage and wasn't impressed, but I tried it.
brain, blood, raw things that pose a serious parasite risk (drunken shrimp for example) are big no-nos for me
