he's speaking of "Book of Life" which was made by 20th Century Fox. It was really well done and really fun. It also deals with Dia de los Muertos and the afterlife/Mexico. So yeah, I'm pretty meh on seeing Coco.
Thought Coco was pretty damn good. Not top tier Pixar but really solid and better than anything else from Pixar the past 6-7 years except Inside Out. For those that have seen both, how did this compare to Book of Life? I'm assuming Coco was different enough to continue with it after BoL was released.
watched it earlier today and thought it was a solid a- it could be pixar’s best work visually they nailed dia de los muertos and the colors and artwork surrounding it the story was solid and i liked the twist
Coco looked great. Thought 1st and 2nd acts dragged a little. 3rd act was fucking amazing. Coco singing with Miguel at the end?
bad pixar news... Spoiler https://www.nytimes.com/2017/11/21/business/media/john-lasseter-pixar-disney-leave.html
Alamo Drafthouse themed shit. Probably going to see this Wednesday just because of the Mole Cast Iron Bake. And because I love the Pixar
Of all the names that have come out in all the sexual misconduct stuff this is the first one that shocked me. Just promote Pete Docter.
oh and hey thanks for the heads up on the frozen bullshit before the movie the people that were surprised and wanted to enjoy it couldn’t because every little boy was freaking out in the theater
Haha I walked out half way through. Went to the bathroom, got a candy and a beer. Came back. And it was still going on!!
went wednesday night. medium drunk and some top tier edibles. loved it. not my favorite pixar movie - probably around #5-6 but that's not bad considering pixar's movies. can't wait until it's torrence and I can watch it with some mushrooms. those spirit creatures were lit af. Spoiler at the end when coco is forgetting papa chorizo... she looked like fucking Yoda. 3 of us sitting together saw it at the same time. and after seeing that and my buddy saying "remember me you will" in a yoda voice - that tearjerker scene turned into a really fucking funny one. I'm fine with it. liked the twist and learning a little more about the tradition and culture than I knew before
No. In Toy Story, Buzz doesn't know he's a toy....yet he acts like a toy in front of Andy or any other people.
1. Why Does Buzz Lightyear Freeze If He Thinks He's A Real Space Ranger? - Toy Story Pixar The "Plot Hole" The main plot in Toy Story revolves around the fact that Buzz Lightyear, a toy, believes himself to be a real-life space ranger - and he's the only toy around who seems to think in this manner, otherwise we might not have a story. To the annoyance of Woody, a cowboy doll, Buzz goes about acting as if he's a real hero, and refuses to accept that he's actually just a plastic plaything. If that's so, though, why does Buzz "freeze" like all the other toys when a human being enters the room? he Simple Solution The writers of Toy Story have steered well clear of this point, because it's not necessary that they really explain it, and they obviously didn't want to get involved in the endless semantics surrounding an rather pointless issue. That said, there's a reasonable explanation lurking at the heart of this "plot hole" anyway: in Buzz's case, the reaction to "freeze" is purely instinctive - pre-programmed, if you will, into his subconscious. Consider that, for a moment, Buzz thinks he's a real space ranger - that doesn't necessarily mean that he thinks he's a real human being, though. Technically, he has no real concept of what an actual human being is, otherwise he'd be going insane upon realising that he doesn't have a heart, doesn't need to eat, and doesn't go to the bathroom. Which means that he's in a class of his own entirely, and one with its own set of rules. Though we know that all toys, by default, opt to conceal themselves from human beings, it's no surprise that it comes instinctively to Buzz, because - ultimately - he is still a toy. This doesn't, however, clash with his belief that he's a real space ranger: for all that we know, his concept of being a space ranger might actually account for his "freezing" - when enemies that look like human beings make themselves known to him, freezing is presumably what Buzz has been "pre-programmed" to do. It's just a matter of perspective.

straight rankings suck imo. Need tiers as well Tier 1 Toy Story Ratatouille Wall-E The Incredibles TS3 Inside Out Up Tier 2 Monsters Inc TS2 A Bug's Life Coco Tier 3 Finding Dory Monsters University Cars Cars 3 (should be below but the story was good enough to put it here. The Shameless Merchandising grab Cars 2 The Good Dinosaur Tier 99 Brave
they use a point system with people on the staff ranked their top 10 films and then the point totals were made (10 points for 1st, 9 for 2nd etc.) If you look at the list with points, it kind of tiers (I should have included points). I broke them into tiers when the point discrepancy jumped between 2 movies ~200+ Toy Story 270 Wall-E 241 Finding Nemo 229 ----------------------- Up 205 The Incredibles 198 100-200 Ratatouille 171 Toy Story 3 158 Inside Out 150 ------------------------ Monsters Inc. 128 Coco 113 <100 Toy Story 2 88 A Bug's Life 55 Cars 38 ------------------------ Brave 13 Finding Dory 3 Monsters University 2 --------------------- Cars 2 0 Cars 3 0 The Good Dinosaur 0

I didn't love Brave but I enjoyed it fine. Definitely wouldn't be in the bottom tier with Cars 2 or 3 for me. I think mine would go something along the lines of (and I tried to rank them in each Tier as well): Tier 1: Toy Story Finding Nemo Coco Wall-E Tier 2: Incredibles Up Inside Out Cars Monsters Inc. Ratatouille Toy Story 2 Tier 3: Finding Dory Brave Toy Story 3 Monsters University A Bug's Life Tier 4: Cars 2 Cars 3 Good Dinosaur
I'm behind the game and finally get to watch Coco now that its on netflix. These rankings have me in anticipation
