It isn't Pixar but if you have never seen Kubo and the Two Strings it is on Netflix and it is a must watch imo

Since Wreck-It Ralph is a very good movie, I'd say it's more of a luke warm take. It would definitely belong in the 1st tier of Pixar movies.

On that note, Big Hero 6 is another excellent non-Pixar movie that would teeter between their 1st and 2nd tier.

I just saw it with my kids and it is DECIDEDLY more for children than Incredibles 1...which is the least family friendly Pixar movie by far. That movie features multiple murders, the desecration of a corpse, adult males trying to kill young children with machine guns, and a young boy laughing hysterically as men die from an explosion he caused.

I enjoyed it MUCH more than Incredibles 1, though admittedly, not the biggest fan of Incredibles 1

woman raised a dumpling and then ate him. super weird but I was stoned as hell so i thought it was funny.

Loved the movie. Liked the story a lot and it was real fun all around. Probably put it over Incredibles 1

There is a montage during the credits showing how they did the skeleton scene.

The movie is a towering achievement in stop-motion animation.

yea it was super weird and I wasn't really a fan hell the one before Coco was weird as fuck and felt like it dragged forever. Pixar shorts for me are normally a one and done. some entertaining enough that first time though

Just got back and loved it. Yes, it was geared towards and older crowd, but that’s what made the first Incredibles so great — it was just a great movie, not a kids movie that adults tolerate. This one was extremely well done and I’m glad Brad waited for a script he was happy with, although the twist was entirely predictable and I kinda figured it was coming. Either way, it’s instantly in my top five Pixar films, probably because the first is my far-and-away #1.

Read a little article on it yesterday and am pretty concerned about all of the feels. Apparently Tom Hanks said he couldn't do his lines for the ending while looking at the writers and had to do them with his back to them. Then Tim Allen said something about the ending being difficult to do. I am hoping all of this is just because it's the end of an era but not something tragic.

    6.5 maybe 7/10.
All the Disney references were great everything else was meh, and it seemed like a lot of the movie was cut out.

Well this movie shouldn't be a emotional punch in the gut:

Back when this film was first announced, Scanlon (who directed Monsters University) explained a bit more about it. Basically, he never knew his own father, and only knew what he looked like through home movies. But then, one day, he found an audio tape of him saying the words “Hi” and “Bye,” and his imagination was ignited. Onward jumps off from there, with two brothers who have the same thing happen to them. Except, this time, they are in a world that used to be magical, but isn’t anymore. “Over the years, it kind of went away as machines were invented to take its place,” we wrote last year. “There aren’t any humans; instead, the characters are elves, trolls, and sprites, and unicorns are everywhere. (They’re like rodents.) Mushroom houses line the streets, but they have satellite dishes on top and minivans in the driveways. It’s described as both modern and familiar, but also fantastic.”

"In the film, we're going to tell the story of two teenage elf brothers whose father died when they were too young to remember him," Scanlon said. "But thanks to the little magic still left in the world, the boys embark on a quest that will allow them a chance to spend one last magical day with their father.
