CFB pods- shutdown fullcast is the best one imo. Not too heavy on the analysis but more on the funny and weird about the sport Others- My dad wrote a porno - British pod that talks about a guy's dad who decided to write an erotic fiction novel. He and his friends write it and make fun of how painfully awkward it is Bodega Boys - Desus and Mero had a podcast well before they had the show, this is the second iteration of that 2 Dope Queens - Jessica Williams from the Daily Show and her friend Phoebe Robinson host a stand up variety show where comedians do sets and also random celebrities come and do guest spots
The 8th Anniversary Comedy Bang Bang ep was amazing. I'd say 2.5 of the 3 hours we're really funny. I don't know if Nick Kroll was intentionally saved for the last guest but he provided a nice boost towards the end. The guy who played Chief made me laugh out loud multiple times.
My true story for the day: When I was in college I was actually co-workers with that guy for about a year. He was kind of a condescending dick back then, too. But I do like the show.
Putting aside whether the State met their burden, or any evidence rules etc, do you think Adnan actually did it?
No I don't. I have no fucking idea what actually happened that night but Adnan killing Hae then burying her in Leakin Park in any version of Jay's story never made sense to me. My best hypothesis at the moment is that neither Jay nor Adnan knows what actually happened and BPD was able to coach/lean-on Jay into giving some kind of story they could work with. They needed the high school girl's homicide case closed ASAP - truth be damned. Even that theory has holes... it's a big clusterfuck for sure - to the point I'd be a little surprised if the State even wants to take this to a new trial.
They leaned on Jay until he gave them some kind of story to work with....like the exact location of her car.
Don't have the time to dig for it now but if I'm remembering correctly, there is definitely evidence that points to the cops knowing about the car before he mentions it during his taped interview that was preceded by hours of un-taped conversations. Have you listened to Undisclosed?
The other witnesses (1-2 ppl) that were at a house and then Jay and Adnan show up acting weird, especially Adnan (or whatever the exact testimony was) worries me. It's the witnesses that have nothing to lose and aren't really involved that I trust the most.
The UD crew was able to cast some reasonable (imo) doubt on whether parts of the events they recalled that from night were actually from that night - what the opening of Serial hits on. If Adnan had a healthy, competent lawyer I don't think he would have been convicted (or should have been). The State's premise of a Muslim honor killing still pisses me off. Adnan liked girls, parties, and weed - a far cry from an ISIS wannabe. Then compound that with denying a 17 y/o bail because he is Pakistani and "may flee the country like those Muslims are known to do after honor killings" and I've got a big middle finger for the Baltimore's(America's) criminal justice system.
Ok, I've listened to the majority of these Knifepoint horror podcasts, and it is remarkable how many of them are similar: "My name is Peter Jesselson. I am a paranormal researcher and I was taking my yearly retreat by myself in some desolate, snow covered retreat...when I decided what I needed to do most...take a hike alone very close to dusk. After all, I needed to clear my head of the thought of the serial killer in the area..." My 2 favorites are "sounds" and "rebirth"
After listening to all of the 8th anniversary, Tim Baltz is so great. I saw the CBB when it was in Portland and he was a guest. He is so fucking funny.
I'm a sugar daddy...I like to pamper ladies. Do a boolean search about sugar daddies at your local libraries.
I thought it was Mike O'Brien when I was listening and followed up to make sure. They share a very similar voice but I agree, Baltz was great.
Found out that you can listen to Chapo Trap House on Sound Cloud. https://soundcloud.com/chapo-trap-house
Was driving through Baltimore last year and went and checked out the burial site, Woodlawn and best buy. Whoever put her there was not a smart person or was in pure panic. After seeing the spot it's absolutely a place that I'd wander around right off a jogging trail. The area is also a flood plain and their is trash and debris everywhere. Makes more sense that they didn't check every item for dna.
This is the premise if you're trying to write a kh story. The author freely shares his work and you can use it how you will. Soren Narnia is a pseudonym and the guys twitter reminds me of david Byrne's interview with himself on stop making sense. He makes no money off knifepoint and the dude is just extremely odd and interesting.
I have started listening to the Bodega Boys and it makes me laugh my ass off. Way less serious than everything else i listen to on the podcast front but definitely a great time
Cannot seem to find on the app. Got a link bruh bruh? Edit: jk should have kept scrolling. Will give it a listen on the treadmill tonight
Anyone else listen to the Dollop? Two comedians. One reads a story from American history, the other has no idea what the topic is about. Great stuff. There is some hilariously crazy shot in American history.
Yeah.... Canadian accents are great. I listened to the first season, and was entertained. I want to say more but don't want to spoil anything.
Probably been discussed here before but changing to 1.5x speed has been game changing. Get through a lot more content, didn't take long to get used to, now 1.0 seems slow. Will bump it up to 2.0x soon if I can.
I'm at 2x currently and I still can't stay caught up with everything I want to listen to. Definitely a game changer though. Without it, my playlist would have to be much smaller. Probably need to bump it some more.
Speaking of Drew Tarver, y'all should listen to "Thanks For The Ride". It's him and a couple people drunkenly having improv awkward conversations in Ubers to fuck with the drivers.
I'm assuming most of your podcasts are comedy based, as are mine. Timing is everything and I can't speed it up for that reason.
It makes the presenter sound like he's sucking on helium. Comedic timing or not, I can't listen to a sped-up cartoon voice for 30-45 min straight. Every time Rachel Nichols is on the LowePost she brags about how she listens to everything at 2-3X speed to conserve time...and then spends the remainder of the podcast saying absolutely nothing of substance about anyone else other than herself.
Or casts with multiple speakers, or dramatic shows... Plus there's a retention issue too. Have you ever had any speed reading training? It's great exercise to become a better reader, but you can't sustain it indefinitely. You eventually reach a point where you're seeing and processing the words but your recall plummets. As you progress from 1.5X to 2X and past that, you may be able to still hear the individual words, but your mind doesn't have enough time to process the material in the ways that aid memory.
I tried 1.5x with "The Audible" (Mandel/Feldman podcast) today. I think I can get used to this. I need to consume content faster. As I add podcasts I end up listening to less music.
Who listens to daily news podcasts? I have a rotation of the Economist, BBC, and NY Times. I would like to avoid the politically polarized hell hole of American news organizations. Anyone got recommendations?
NPR Up First is pretty good. Whatever were the top 2-3 news stories they recap in about 12 minutes. In time, I think it needs some expansion. Some days that's far too much and other it's far too little.
I started on pods at 1.5x, but when I tried 2x it seemed impossible to understand. Now, I've been 2x for the last year or so. Listening to 1x seems like slow motion. I don't listen to many comedy pods, so the 2x works for me just blowing through content.
