castro and podcruncher (paid app but you can catch them free every couple weeks) are also good alternatives
The Accent is strong but after fighting through the first couple hours on a cross country road trip brain normalized it. Stories are great and worth it.
I agree when I first started I could barely get through the first episode and stopped afterward just saying I can’t do this. But after I hit a rut with no new podcasts I went and listened to the whole Teddy Roosevelt series and I just got over his accent. Every time I listen to the podcast again I have to acclimate to it but you do acclimate eventually. And no it’s not Dan Carlin but it’s still interesting stories told in an expansive way. The Sandcreek/My Lai massacre combo podcast he did with the Martyrmade podcast guy was very good.
Fwiw this doc on Netflix is as good, or better, than most true crime podcast I've personally listened to..
Highly recommend Crime in Sports. Two comedians pick a different shithead athlete each week and humorously go through their career both on and off the field
Atlanta monster which I found uncompelling, primarily because the guy that was convicted comes across as guilty and manipulative as shit.
good Doc about an innocent man that was mentioned in the staircase doc https://www.wral.com/news/local/documentaries/video/10950827/
I’m still not 100% certain there weren’t multiple monsters during that time period. Plus, some missing kids weren’t considered as possible victims. But I really want to know what happened to the reward money. That’s the most interesting grift.
Maybe he didn’t do all of them, but he was clearly a big time manipulator, and his story never felt consistent.
I listened to Up and Vanished but I just couldn't stand listening to Payne Lindsey's voice anymore. He is a caricature of every Southern frat boy ever.
Anyone listen to in the dark? Really liked like the first 5 episodes of season one but now it’s really dragging on
I felt the same way about season one, but started season two and it's really, really good. You could tell they were completely thrown off by having the guy confess.
Anyone listen to the RFK tapes? The first episode was pretty good but don’t want to start getting into it if it goes downhill.
I do to, I’m not really convinced of any conspiracy at this point. Probably some boneheaded mistakes by police after the conviction but not really feeling the conspiracy side. I’m enjoying Coverup on Chappaquiddick right now, was skeptical since it was done by People magazine but it’s been good so far.
It's an investigation of the death of child at a fat camp in Bastrop, Louisiana in 1996. The only piece of evidence they had to go on was a package of Flipz Dark Chocolate covered pretzels that was recovered near the body. The curious thing was, this particular item wouldn't be released by Nestlé until 1997. Did I miss anything devine?
Doing a trial of Stitcher Premium and my god at the gold in the Comedy Bang Bang archives. Also for other Earwolf fans, check out Offices & Bosses and Big Grande’s Teachers’ Lounge if you get the chance both are damn hilarious.
Binging on Up & Vanished, but have listened to only 1/2 the casts. It’s good. Just could have been half as long. Also caught up on Truth & Justice. Pissed at S5 being drug out before “the pause.” Need this shit to get moving.
In the Dark season 2 is fucking infuriating. I’m up to date and it continues to get worse with every god damn episode. I can’t help but to listen to Sword and Scale but I cannot stand that douchebag host. Fuck I hate him.
I’m enjoying the Gizmodo podcast The Gateway about a controversial new age cult leader, it’s been a good listen so far.
Daves of Thunder is back after a seven year hiatus. Comedy pod by a Hollywood sit-com writer and a guy that works at the NFL network. Probably my favorite podcast ever.
