https://www.thewrap.com/wondery-parts-ways-with-sword-scale-podcast-host-mike-boudet/ Sword and Scale is over for the most part. Dropped by wondry and sponsors so its going on its own behind a paywall until further notice. Sounds like long time coming for this guy.
Bill Burr is slowly turning into a whiny baby boomer on his podcast. It's rarely funny anymore. It's quite the bummer.
I listened to a dozen or so of them and could never quite get into them. Another podcast that could benefit from a good editor.
I've been listening to a lot of Behind the Bastards after this thread mentioned it as well. I feel like I can't listen to a bunch of them in a row though or they lose their effect. I prefer to be outraged anew at each one.
True Crime podcast I want to check out is To Live and Die in LA. Heard it advertised through Up and Vanished and am excited to listen to it, because Neil Strauss is telling the story. That dude is an incredible story teller, so I've got no doubt it'll be awesome. He's the one who did the writing for books like The Dirt with Motley Crue, How to Make Love Like a Porn Star with Jenna Jameson, and most importantly the infamous book The Game.
Lots of bolding and italicizing going on here. TLADILA (unnecessary abbreviation because I wanted to) is good, but it seems relatively open and shut imo. It’s better because Payne Lindsey from up and vanished is a shitty journalist who stumbled into a great story is only a producer and not involved in the narration.
Liked Burr’s pod a lot when I first discovered podcasts. The ranting is ok if it’s about dumb or lighthearted shit but the constant comedian victim complex about what they can and can’t say in the last couple years is so stupid. It’s literally the best time for comedy.
I finally deleted it. Really tired of him trying to rationalize that he doesn’t have a drinking problem. Feel like he just rants about the same shit over and over.
It’s ok, the story seems pretty cut and dry to be honest, there’s been one twist so far but it wasn’t entirely unpredictable.
I used to listen to it too, but I grew tired of the “oh this is so hard to exist what jokes can I even make anymore!?!?” schtick.

Up and Vanished fans.......jury selection today https://www.13wmaz.com/article/news...ounty/93-9144b4d0-d46a-4db2-a205-9a1c4dd43236
They went ahead and released the first episode yesterday due to some breaking news over the weekend. https://www.nbcnews.com/news/us-new...connection-1999-killing-two-teenagers-n984356
so much for all the conspiracies about that case I was reading about. suspect/defendant has no record though, which is crazy.
really weird. Very involved in the community, started a Christian based business, and his wife is a school teacher. Children seem to be very accomplished as teenagers. Strange case.
not to derail the thread, but I see A LOT of guys (on a weekly basis) turn to god after committing crimes, so this makes perfect sense. There are probably witnesses to say that he talked about his "past mistakes and troubled past."
Mike managed to get banned from his own subreddit and removed from his own show. My eyes rolled out of my head listening to his "persecuted free-thinker" manifesto. There's nothing profound about 20 minutes of shallow editorializing around 40 minutes of publicly available audio. The dude is an egotistical, misogynistic creep.
I haven’t listened to the sword and the scale in a long time, but I heard his burnout pod, and it was childish, and essentially shut me off to being willing to listen to any of his future material.
I loved the shit out of Sword and Scale. I've listened to every episode. He sounded like a douche in that manifesto thing and seems like a shitty dude, but I thought the show was great.
It used to be great. Then it became lazy and the majority of each episode was just court room or 911 audio
I forget the details, do they have any physical evidence on Ryan? Like did they find a burn pit or remains or anything?
State’s case was rather clear, which certainly doesn’t look good for Ryan. Bo’s charges: Dukes was charged with concealing a death, two counts of making false statements and hindering the apprehension or punishment of a criminal in the Grinstead case.
No burn pit. Just Bo’s testimony and the guy that Bo confessed to. I can’t remember if there were cell phone data or not. *Apparently they found a fragment of a finger.
Pretty crazy how the up and vanished podcast turned out. Went from some guys first podcast and super cold case to conviction in like 2 or 3 years. Its awesome the awareness that some of these podcasts bring to these cases.
