I've been listening to these: Serial Sword & Scale Lore On some of the less creepy/scary episodes of Lore, I've let my kids (8 and 4) listen a bit because they love ghost stories and the like. But some of the material is a little too much for them. I've been on the lookout for a good Podcast that features scary/interesting stories that are more kid friendly, but the only ones I've found so far are either done by church groups and have some underlying evangelical bent, or a really terrible one by two young guys who are Goosebumps fans and not as funny/interesting/creative as they seem to think they are. Anyone have a good suggestion for a kid-friendly Podcast that won't bore the shit out of adults in the car?

I like Never Not Funny, HDTGM was actually one of the first podcasts that I got into so I'm obviously a huge fan (again, I love Mantzoukas so that makes it easy), haven't tried Womp It Up but Jessica St. Clair is pretty hilarious, and I generally enjoy Marissa Wompler appearances on CBB so I'll need to check it out. U Talking U2 to Me is fantastic but I understand their trepidation with doing new eps. Gonna be pretty hard to top the interview with the band itself. And in that same category, Analyze Phish is also great, particularly since I feel like I've played the Aukerman role many times with my Phish-loving friends.
What is sword and scale? The Lore episode about asylum's freaked me the hell out. (Of course I listened to it right after the latest episode of Knifepoint Horror and decided to google image search Dr. Freeman's lobotomy. Bad idea )

Sword and Scale is a true crime podcast. They cover a really fucked up story in depth each episode, often with interviews with people involved. Some of the stuff is really depressing and dark, though interesting as hell.
Listening to How Did This Get Made this morning, and they did an ad for how.fm, or whatever channel that hosts a bunch of podcasts. Anywho - one of the podcasts they featured was described as a Hardcore History spoof of Game of Thrones. Anyone know what it's called? Would like to give it a shot because that sounds phenomenal.
Haven't seen The Dollop mentioned here much. Great history podcast. One comedian picks an obscure moment or person in history and teaches it to his comedian friend. Some of my favorites include: Ten Cent Beer Night, The Willie Dee, The Fans of Philadelphia, Centralia, PA, Action Park!, Prince Albert Visits Australia, The Iraq War, Nim The Chimp.
I think I'm going to get tickets for the Portland show but I'm not sure cause it's on a Tuesday night and I live just over 2 hours from there and I have work the next morning
What am I missing on CBB. I listened to the Galifianakis one and thought it was pretty good, but nothing I would want to consistently use an hour of my listening time to every week. Do I need to just listen to it more and more to get the inside jokes to fully appreciate it?
Yea listening to it once doesn't do it justice. You need to understand inside jokes throughout the entire series as well as character backgrounds. It's all just call backs and stuff so without knowing a lot of the stuff that happened it can at points not make a lot of sense.
CBB is callback paradise. The backstory behind people like Cake Boss and the Dalyverse characters are so hilariously convoluted.
I'd go listen to shows with Paul F. Tompkins, Andy Daly or James Adomian doing characters for a flavor of what the show is. If you google best CBB episodes, you'll see a bunch of shows listing those guys. If you can't get into those, it might just be something you don't dig (which is totally fine).
I've been listening to the Great Debaters, pretty funny 30 minute show where two comedians debate pointless topics.
You Must Remember This just had a really good episode on the House of Un-American Activities Committee. It's pretty appalling how anti-semetic and racist they were.
Need a good financial podcast. Any suggestions? I am looking at money management, investing, etc. I need something that is easy to listen to and not on some crazy level to where I've got to try and decipher what the mother fucker is saying.
Planet money is pretty good. It's not really for personal investing though. Is that what you're looking for?
I'd enjoy it more if they didn't CONSTANTLY break out into song. Sing at the beginning and Suddenly Seymour at the end.
Really overall economic stuff. They'll go into stocks sometimes, but it's NPR, so they have stories on random stuff. The description: Money makes the world go around, faster and faster every day. I think he's a moron picking the Snow case for his second season. Myths and Legends is pretty entertaining if the subject matter interests you. HOWEVER THE BESTEST is Limetown... Just started it. Also, has anyone listened to Welcome to Night Vale? People love it, but I gave it a solid 4 hours and am perplexed why anyone would like it. Yes, the ambiance and world are cool. That's where it loses my interest, because there is no real plot.
Started listening to Doughboys. Comedians Nick Wiger and Mike Mitchell and a weekly guest review chain restaurants. Fun stuff.
Wanted to like it too. Concept was cool, some interesting scenarios, but, yeah, I was just waiting for something to happen.
