I've powered up an Espeon and a Cloyster, which in the new combat calculations should be fantastic vs Dragonites.
But if people don't play them (1 per gym max) then it doesn't matter. There's going to be a Dragonite surplus now, far more than anything else, because there will simply be more Dragonites than gym spots. Difficult to say currently. The rules surrounding gyms now have changed so much even if they didn't change the numbers part of it I think Dragonite and Ttar would matter less. The best defenders theoretically are just going to be the hardest to counter, which are currently Blissey and Snorlax. Rhydon, Gyarados, and Dragonite all have gaping double weaknesses now so it remains to be seen what happens to them. The only thing you could safely power up now are Machamps, Ursarings, and Donphans with 1 or 2 Fighting moves. The last two won't get STAB but again, SE matters way more now. You'll be playing Go like you'd play the real game and finding the best counters and if they happen to get STAB or have some Resist then all the better.
a ninetails with solar beam, in gyms, could be a fun surprise for some people when it wips it out vs their *insert water type here*
have a Machop with 86%IV level 18 waiting to be evolved right now but kinda hoping for a little better one
Gyms look different now but still under construction. That archanine with electric moves could be dangerous as well
there's apparently a glitch or workaround, evolve those flagged pokemon and the red strike goes away according to reddit.
IV borderline doesn't matter anymore other than the minor stats boost. there's not going to be fighting over spots anymore. yea they show up with a line through them. nothing confirmed but thoughts are you won't be able to use them in gyms or if you do they maybe have awful moves or something. I never spoofed, I just used a browser window with a map to tell me where to go. I was always physically at the spot the pokemon spawned at, I just had the foresight to know it was spawned there because of a map. no app was involved ever. I checked just in case and all 500+ of mine are clean. some others in here may or may not be so fortunate, though, depending on how far back they choose to take it.
So they should already be marked now? Guess I'll take a gander. Probably can't use a gligar or something, big deal.
Took down a dragonitr, was about to take down a gyarados next and all I get is an error after the fight begins. Restarted app and all. Ugh.
Have a guy in a valor and one in instinct. Love having two accounts. At a conference currently so I had to pop out to get the two gyms that are on the beach right outside the conference room reach. It looks like the mons will die in a day if someone does not feed them berries.
One guy is almost full health still and the other is about 80% health. Only been an hour. I am guessing some mons live longer than others. Anyone know the reason one type is "dying" so much faster?
its been an hour and a half about and now at 50%. At this rate he is gonna die before I get a coin. Color this update stupid unless someone goes and feeds him berries every 3 hours. Especially when I leave town.
was under the impression, perhaps a stupid one, that you could just hit the golden rasperberry or any berry for that matter wherever you are to feed your gym pokemon and didn't have to travel to the gym to do it. not the case?
When a Pokémon is put in a gym, it doesn't start with max motivation You can't add a Pokémon when a gym you want to protect is under attack You can click on the bottom-left icon or the team symbol on a gym to spin the disc (/u/acarrick ) Spinning the Disc of a gym gives 2~4 items. Being in the same team as the gym gives one more item. Spinning a Gym's Disc counts as a daily stop bonus (/u/Madigari ) Badges don't seem to be available yet (the players are supposed to get more items from a gym's Disc if they have this gym's badge) Badges are available now Gym's Disc doesn't give Raid Pass yet You can only feed a pokémon 10 berries until it is full, we don't know how long you cant feed another for (/u/let-me-think- ) +20 stardusts per berry fed (pinap, razz and nanab all give +20) (/u/BaileyBechtel ) There is an indicator when you click on a Pokemon : battles won, time in gym and berries fed (but this one doesn't seem to work) Pokemon GO+ can't spin gyms (/u/Pacman327 ) Pokemon that spawns near a Gym aren't on the radar (/u/Alphionn ) You can hold 20 gyms at once (/u/Constyy ) CPs go down at the rate : 1 per 2 minutes When a Pokemon's CP are red, it means that the next defeat will kick them out from the gym Feeding a Pokémon (yours or an ally one) can give you a Candy of that Pokémon
they need to update item drop numbers hard. it's going to require crazy amounts of spinning to keep your guys fed and occupied in gyms. everyone will be all over gyms for a few weeks as well so don't expect to get much of a reward for your work. gotta wait until the hype dies down and strats become better. also pretty good chance they'll rework some of their formulas anyway so things become easier.
No one will feed a rydon vape or grydos. I see Blissy and Snorlax sitting at all you can eat buffets. That puts high value in putting in a rare Mon. Might start using the Heracross more.
now that there is no prestige is it worth keeping any "mid level" mons? I have over 600 mons and a lot of that army lies between 1500 and 750. I am guessing the 10 hitmonlees and 20 vapes are worthless now. Maybe 6 or so 2500 plus vapes i can keep but the rest are junk now?
yea I've got a 1400 Muk with Infestation/Dark Pulse that I'll pump up now. others can feed your mon (and vice versa). 1 coin per hour. Prestiging is dead. Clear that space if you want. Might want to wait for a double candy event if you can afford the space. Hitmon's will be glass cannons now.
early thought is higher CP mons have their CP decay faster although it should level off at a point. this is done so all defenders can spend a reasonably equal time in a gym if all other variables are equal. In for Defenders (no particular order): Chansey (yes really), Wobbuffet, Tentacruel, Umbreon, Lapras, Steelix, Miltank, Hypnos, Donphan, few others Out: Gyarados, Rhydon, Dragonite, Golem all of which suffer massive weakness to Lightning, Water/Grass, Ice, Water/Grass respectively. Tyranitar may or may not fall in the same situation with its massive weakness to Fighting types depending on whether or not your area has lots of said type (my area should still be good to use a Ttar).
they're beta testing raids, they've already said the requirements will drop when they fully open. everything they've done in gyms has been to open the experience up to more people there's no way they'd do the opposite with raids.
How bout my porygon2 he finally useful? 1 coin per hour equals a ton of turn over and yes they want high cp draining fast so the low guys like wobuffet and coral dude and a few other high D mons might be good defenders.

Raids seem fun. They don't seem to be terribly stingy with TMs either as you'll see from the video. Rewards are totally randomized to you individually, though. the mons themselves most likely follow hatch rules (IVs roughly 76-100, CP maxed at 20) since I know what a hatched Snorlax CP looks like and it's in line with the video. they don't seem altogether tougher to catch or anything either, I imagine the special ball functions probably like a Great ball. someone on TSR subreddit managed to solo a Machamp earlier as well so that's possible. I imagine only Snorlax and Blissey will be incapable of being soloed (I think you could maybe solo Snorlax with a Machamp lineup but for all those 40s they had shit for Fighting types). notice the Snorlax was 4* rating but Machamp is a 3*.
Every new gym you visit. Each gym has a badge you get from spinning it. You level up the gym badge more you fight at that gym. Not sure what you get for leveling up though.
