quests are pretty great and give me a lot more reason to play this. i hope they have a lot/all of the legendaries available as 7 day rewards so i can get them since i don't raid.
So moltres encounter is the first 7 day reward for field research (plus some items). I hope these legendary encounters rotate weekly or at least monthly. Would suck to keep seeing moltres. Then again if that flee rate is high I'd be irritated if I didn't get another shot the next week...
I'd be really surprised if it didn't change weekly and if the special research didn't renew with a new 'mon monthly. Changed my time zone this morning to get the Moltres and got a 71%
i feel like they'll need to a longer time for mythical quest if they're going to handle special research the same way they handle raids. i think part of the draw to field research in general is that casual solo players can do them and get great rewards they would only get by raiding and being more hardcore about the game. and being that they're casual, it seems pretty rough to only release mew as a reward for a month and force someone to evolve a magikarp amongst the other tasks in just a months time if they're fairly casual about the game. personally i hope they either release a new one every quarter or release them every month but only allow you to start new quest after finishing up old one so that you can still get mew.
The field research breakthrough Pokemon encounter will change monthly. Niantic said the theme of this month's research if Fire Pokemon, so next month will probably change to Ice or Electric.
good to know. guess that's why i always get "catch 3 fire pokemon." as for mewtwo, how do i get an EX pass? do i have to do legendary raids for them, and should i just raid at sprint stores or something? back when i was raiding i could never get one, yet it seems like people are always doing them these days.
There are extremely nerd detailed breakdowns of what qualifies a gym to be EX-Eligible, but long story short if you don't want to read S-Cell breakdowns and check OSM for which gyms near you are in eligible cells are you just raid Sprint/Starbucks gyms as often as you can.
There are a lot more ex-raid eligible gyms now. Just in my immediate area we've went from 3 locations to I think 11 in the past month Sponsored gyms - Sprint/Starbucks "Parks" -- If it doesn't have a nest, it's not a park. And just raid at those locations as much as possible
What Pokémon do you guys keep in you’re storage? Do you try to save one of everything? I’m thinking of transferring everything under 90% IV or that I won’t ever use....
I only keep a living Pokedex (1 of everything) for anything that isn't meta relevant. i.e. multiple Ttars, multiple Dragonites. I also only keep 1 of every legendary because lore, fuck the cheating ass kids that play with 6 Mewtwos by transferring shit back to themselves.
Basically the same as Ian 1. Up to 6-9 each of meta-relevant stuff and legendaries 2. Shinies (except the event shinies that I'd have loads of...I delete most of those) 3. Any IV of something useful I've caught that's already at level 34-35. e.g. I have a Lvl 35 60% Dragonite 4. 100% IVs (or the best I have) for the rest of my living dex
I'm keeping 100% IV mons, any high level useful mons, stuff I can mass evolve for exp, and all legendaries (apparently if I wait until there's a 2x candy event I can get twice as much candy for transferring). But then again I've been playing for like 2 weeks.
I'm talking about the actual handheld games, some people played with honor and caught only 1 Mewtwo in their Red/Blue, some kids were asswipes and begged their parents to buy a second gameboy, a second cartridge and link cables and transferred Mewtwos over and over again to themselves.
Go out after 10pm your local time...hit your major cluster areas/biomes. E.g. for me, there's a biome in the Meijer and Best Buy parking lots that usually has 4-5 shuppets at once during those hours. For the event, I just did a couple laps through my downtown area
Whats the story with the weather part of the app? It's been pouring all morning and has just said cloudy in the app the whole time. Always seems to be off. Really need some magikarp and lotad...
Updates every hour makes more sense cuz I have accuweather on phone and definitely was saying rain on there.
That and it will change from sector to sector. E.g., we know where the weather boundary near the downtown area I play in. If we're raiding and looking for a weather boosted raid, we'll send a car a couple of miles south to check. Even then, it's often wrong or "wrong" where it could be multiple things, but seemingly chooses the wrong one, like Cloudy/Snowy, where it shows cloudy in the middle of a damn blizzard
This event that just started gets someone like me, who only knew the original 151, kinda back into it in hopes of completing the Dex.
been Magnemites and Machops everywhere tonight and I love it, didn't have a Machamp or Magneton yet, had literally seen one Magnemite ever
Yeah absolutely stock Machop candy this week. I saw around 20 in the couple of hours I was out after work just doing a few raids and getting dinner. By the end of the week you should have a few high IV Machops to choose from and plenty of candy to evolve and max if you want
If they're in short supply for you, I'd concentrate on your high level/high IV generalists that you use the most and are most likely to be useful in the future. For me, that means: Regulars- Dragonite (outrage),Machamp (dynamic punch), Ttar (Stone Edge or Crunch) Legendaries - MewTwo (shadow ball), Kyogre (blizzard), Raquaza (outrage), Raikou (wild charge)
Yep. Everyone remember to pinap it. It's not a 100% catch rate, but it's a 0% flee rate. May take you 20 balls, but the extra candy is worth it.
think i got it on my second ultra ball throw last time, hopefully i'm just as lucky this time. also i wasn't a fan of this kanto event till i saw all the magikarp spawns outside of water biomes. that double candy + pinap + frequency of spawns is so great. gonna have mew before i know it.
yea i got about 80 Magikarp candy yesterday just driving to/from work and seeing them pop up at traffic light stops
Kanto event + cloudy weather + double candy = I’ve gone from 100 to 700 machop candy in a day and I’ve barely played. Had my phone out at a brewery last night and they were everywhere. Walked outside today and there were 3 chilling with a machoke at the stop closest to my house.
I really need some Dratinis to start showing up, I've only gotten 3 ever. It's windy outside and says dragon on the weather thing but nada
