god no. gen 4 in full, or at least 95+%, probably won't hit until next March or so I'm guessing. they did spot the cross-gen evo stone though, and the Japan PoGo account said we'd get another Kanto event this weekend to coincide with the release of Let's Go so people are thinking we'll be able to do those first few gen 4 evos like Magnezone, Electivire, Tangrowth, Rhyperior, etc.

I need rhyhorns. I had a moment of stupidity yesterday and decided to power up two rhyhorns and used all my candy. I have a perfect rhyhorn and was saving the candy to evolve him.

It's an ok choice because you don't have to worry about it getting a better move from some weird event/day down the line like you do with Rhydon/Rhyperior

Here's a solid breakdown of what's safe to evolve now without fearing a new move or shiny release:
    =============

Rhyperior is definitely not safe. Shiny not released, signature move not released, 3-stage evo... but it IS useful now, so could evolve a few and save a few for Rock Wrecker.

Togekiss... who knows. Could be CD. Shiny Togepi is out, but we're still waiting for a damn fairy fast move, so it's not very useful anyway... I'm holding out on this one.

Magmar... good stats but charge moves hold it back a bit. Could wait and hope for Overheat or Flamethrower. It probably won't ever be the best fire type, though, so could just evo.

Porygon-Z could definitely get a CD/exclusive move. 3-stage evo, 10k hatch, and lacks a normal-type quick move to make it relevant. Might evolve one, but I'm waiting on the best ones.

Dusknoir is pretty safe, probably won't ever be very useful.

Weavile seems pretty safe. No shiny, but it has great movesets, both dark and ice.

Roserade seems pretty safe, good movesets for poison and grass, and shiny is out.

Honchkrow seems pretty safe. Shiny is out, and good dark moveset is available. Could save one in case a better flying move comes out, but not like Murkrows are hard to find anyway.

Mismagius... just go ahead, it won't be relevant no matter what.

Gliscor... just go ahead, atk too low to be useful

Electivire... could potentially get a CD, but it already has TS/WC so should be fine evolving and using now.

the only thing that you 100% must evolve is a Mamoswine because it's the best Ice type by a million miles and there are dragons all over this gen. everything else you very likely either have the best of or 2nd best, which is always fine. like Honchkrow and Weavile do <10% more DPS than Ttar but have half the bulk. Electivire is the same with Raikou (and if you have an elite Raikou or two you've already invested serious candy).

True, although Dialga is weak to Ground so a Mud Slap/Bulldoze Mamoswine should do well even with the mediocrity of Bulldoze. Plus Rayquaza will eventually get its day in the sun again and I suspect Bagon will have a CD very soon which means Salamance all over gyms.

that Meltan research is pure ass and the Fossil types in part 8 are horrible unless you live in a lucky biome. if I didn't finish (well finish today or Wednesday) I wouldn't until they had another Rock event because Fossil pokemon just don't exist around here.

on a side note, got a shiny Growlithe yesterday, very happy about that.

The fossils are spawning literally everywhere (I've caught like 80 Anoriths over the weekend) because of the boosted event, as long as you get to that step during the event this quest isn't even close to 20% as bad as all the reddit complaints are making it seem like it is.

so after literally not seeing a wild shiny (non-boosted) since August, I caught a Growlithe about 5 days ago. Arcanine is one of my favorite pokemon so I was happy with that. Little did I know today would top it with not only two I really wanted but are otherwise severely rare in my city's biomes.

    Note the time.

Yea, I'm gonna make a 2nd Blast Burn Charizard and Frenzy Plant Bulbasaur but no more unless I get an amazing IV/level because gen 3 starters outclass them. I've got a team of Metagross so I'm just gonna farm candy to keep them boosted but having only one Smack Down Ttar, I've got a couple quality Larvitar I'm going to boost. Everything else is pretty meh for moves but I welcome the candy and chance for shinies.

Just random. Nothing is buffed right now.

Interested in seeing the shiny rates next weekend (Buffed spawns all weekend, not sure on shiny rates). I'm guessing they'll only be buffed during the 3-hour rewards window (if at all), but they *COULD* be all weekend long.

And just so everyone's clear...if you don't have a good squad of Smackdown Ttars, that should be your priority next weekend.

Meteor Mash Metagross is easily more important, they will essentially never be outclassed in a meaningful way and the only non-mythical challenger won't appear for literally years. Smackdown Ttar gets replaced this gen with Rampardos. However, double Dark Ttar won't be replaced until gen 6 so saving up a lot of candy to make a team of those would be very wise.

Steel attacking types are too rarely needed at this point, but you're not wrong, once you can build a full battle team of Rampardos. Just like having a fully powered-up team of Gengar, but will be a lot more difficult to get.

Also, I'm assuming that most people ITT don't raid like I do, so the odds of getting a team of high IV Rampardos aren't very high and the barrier to powering them up is too great. And Ttar still has significantly higher TDO*DPS

Metagross is an S-tier attacker, arguably the best in the entire game. Sky-high DPS (barely behind Garchomp, Rays, Gengar, Mewtwo), TDO that essentially only sits behind Lugia, Garchomp, and Arceus, and the best DPS^3*TDO in the game. The most resistances in the game, everything it resists it will hit for SE (OP as FUCK), equally adept at defending (for whatever that's still worth) and high value on candy means people will usually choose to feed it over others giving you gym time, and just an all-around do everything pokemon.

Zero reason not to make a squad of Metagross. Futureproof as fuck and good for essentially everything except a Moltres or Heatran raid.

I have both, obviously, but I'd still rather have a team of Ttars because they're more useful in the meta. Steel attack types just aren't really useful right now (or probably ever)

When you're comparing an attacker to Lugia, you're doing it wrong.

When you're comparing attackers without considering what you're usually attacking, you're REALLY doing it wrong.

Comparison to Lugia exists because Lugia has literally the biggest TDO in the game, you should know that. And typing is so overrated for anything but duos and trios in this game. Literally any gym falls over if you want it to, regardless of typing, and all raids die with enough people. You just posted a list that has Ttar and Meta on the same level, that more than proves my point.

Why do you think Mewtwo and Rayquaza hang around anyway lol, they're quality generalists and Metagross is the 3rd part of that trinity. You can basically take a team of any of them against virtually anything and they'll come out on top regardless of typing.

Literally no one uses Lugia for attacking. It's not a useful comparison for anything.

You're right that any gym falls over...so defense really doesn't matter and that's what would differentiate Metagross if it matters, because of its resistances.

What I said is that I'd have a team of both and that I'd favor Ttar in the current meta, which others agree with. No one I know has a Metagross in their sweeper party, for example.

You agreeing that Ttar and Meta are on the same level backtracks on your original stance.

I think we're close to the same opinion.

All I said was Meta was more worth chasing this CD. Beldum is a rare spawn, Metagross isn't in raids (farming Ttar candy is easy duo material and gives at minimum 20 candy), and Metagross is more futureproof (PvP will render Metagross infinitely more useful). Meteor Mash is an absurdly OP move and should not be missed on whatsoever, Ttar can be useful with non-CD moves. Rhyperior stands a whole 3% less in DPS (20.0 to 19.4), 0.6% behind in TDO (740 to 735), meaning a grand 3.6% in DPS*TDO and it's readily available without CD moves. I'm not downing Smackdown Ttar but I don't think you need 6 of them either, not with Rhyperior currently obtainable and Rampardos en route. Two or three SD Ttar will do you fine and many might already have that from the original CD.

If nothing else, Metagross is simply more rare to get candy for and should have more value for that reason. I think they're both important, I just think there's more to Ttar than Smackdown and he's easier to get.

Team I power up only 1 pokemon of a certain moveset and use rainbow teams for all encounters because spamming 6x ttars at raid bosses feels lame in a game that already has 0 depth.

get the "Hatch 2 Eggs" task and stack the Aero research until you hit step 8. I feel your pain, though, but unless we have a nest we have zero Lileep/Anorith and zero Kabuto/Omanyte least of all any Aero so step 8 was fucked for me if I didn't bumrush it, which I did.

I kinda get the feeling in a month or two they'll boost spawns back for a weekend and let people work on the quest again, they have to know how impossible step 8 is for a lot of biomes.
