My son and I went to a gym not far from our house, he battled and won it for us (Team Red). When he finally won it, he said, "OK, dad. It's ours now, put one of your Pokemon in there". When I did, I saw a name I didn't recognize, which was odd considering he had just won it a few seconds ago. Look up and there's a dude in a car a few feet away. He sees me look at him, smiles and salutes and drives away. This shit is pretty fucking cool.
I had the same thing happen to me. My highest level CP was ~100. Then I realized you could use the Stardust to power up your Pokemon (something most people probably already know). I dumped a ton of Stardust into my biggest Pokemon and got him to ~500CP. The biggest I've seen is ~900.
Just downloaded. Never played Pokemon before, but this seems pretty fun. Can I start a group with friends so we can all do it together? brolift
Anyone else have trouble having nothing show up on there map? Last thing I read was I needed to get poke balls at a poke stop but I've driven all over today running errands in a large city and every time I check my map there's nothing Makes me think my phone isn't smart enough
It's the summer. Kids are out of school with nothing else to do but sacrifice pidgeys to power up their pidgeots.
can someone explain to me in less than 3 sentences what this game is and why people are going nuts over it
you become a pokemon trainer but you actually to go out & traverse your city to accomplish anything; like a real pokemon journey.
I live about 10 minutes from a university than i go run around some. Place is a goldmine for the there's several gyms and like 20 plus stops. Even more incentive to run
People get to be the character they played on a game boy game they loved when they were younger. Augmented reality makes it like you are in the game.
I don't know who decided where to put these gyms and pokestops, but they put a gym at the memorial to Jack Kevorkian.
I live in a predominantly black neighbor & there's a church every 3 to 4 blocks which means there's a pokestop every 3 to 4 blocks; 3 gyms within one block of the supermarket; this is awesome.
Literally caught a pokemon in my kitchen just chillin by the stove. Not sure what he was doing there. There's a gym in my building and I can't go until level 5? The fuck is this shit? How do I get to level 5?
This. Easiest way to level up is to catch and transfer everything you see. Though you need a few pokestops handy to refill pokeballs. You run through them really quick.
Update: After catching a pokemon in my kitchen, I've caught another in my bathroom. Will keep you all updated as breaking news develops.
Saw someone on Reddit mention stocking up on some extras then waiting to transfer them in until you use a lucky egg and then get double XP for it to level up quick
Their servers keep experiencing errors. I downloaded this and we went for some ice cream and I was catching things left and right
I've been driving around SoCal last few days.. Plus spent $10 and bought/used Lucky Eggs & Incense, plus took advantage of others using Lures.
Pulled into a fire station parking lot a block from my house to catch a few that were running around. ....almost hit a firefighter who was walking around the parking lot locked into his phone doing the same thing. We nodded and continued our search.
Spent 20 mins in the hood of Columbia for a squirtle. This app is making me go places I never would voluntarily go.
Looool someone dropped a lure at the park next to my house and there's 10-15 nerds out here catching Pokemon. My app isn't working otherwise I would be one of them :( Just people watching now and it's fascinating
I used to have an Android and never spent real money cuz I used to do a bunch of Google surveys. A majority of those more powerful Pokemon came from leveling up and finding strong Pokemon randomly while driving. Plus the Santa Monica pier was a crazy fuckin hot spot! Coronado in San Diego, Long Beach, LA in general has tons of places to catch beasts. I've seen 1000+ Pokemon all over, LA especially.
Just got back from the mall. Easily 100+ people roaming around catching Pokemon. The popularity of this game is insane. My best is a 486 cp pidgeot. It sucks tho. Such weak attacks.
- yes, you need lots of candies to evolve things BUT you get 4 per pokemon you catch(3 initially, 1 for transfer). it's not quite as bad as you think but evolving is a big deal, it's meant to feel like an accomplishment - you can catch already evolved pokemon in the wild, they're just rarer - hatching eggs provides lots of stardust. start walking(or biking) - if you map doesn't seem to be working, force close the app and restart it. usually happens if the app hangs in your background too long. - you will start to see higher CP pokemon in the wild as you level. the people you see at the gym with a 900 either dumped all their stardust into one pokemon or they're level 13-15+ and have 400-500CP pokemon running around them. you'll get there too, just be patient. finally got a Squirtle today in the wild. picked Charmander and found a Bulbasaur the next day but was headed home and this guy popped up on me with 2 footprints on the bar so I tracked him down and snagged him. I haven't gotten a full day off yet so tomorrow I'm really gonna do some walking around and finally pop down some Incense. Going to try to go from level 8 to 12 tomorrow.
