I don't really "stay" out there, but I've had friends that went to UC Davis so I've hung out there a few times and I stop in Vacaville to get food/gas all the time on the way to Tahoe.

I'd rather work the job I have now than work for the city lol. But yeah, Yakima blows but I have a pretty legit job. Plus a lot of my friends are here.

the pnw economy sucks hard. im not sure i'd recommend moving without something lined up unless you have a lot of money, connections, or are willing to bust your ass hustling to make a living until you can get one.

but if you are going to move, do it in the early spring. the pnw has four distinct seasons (although a lot of the country would  at what we call winter), but you'll want to experience the entirety of the summer/fall here for sure. g.o.a.t. weather + activities.

btw, t-minus 1.5 hours until touchdown in SEATAC, then a 30 min. flight to pdx. boooom.

Just flew from Omaha to Phoenix (stupid small Omaha airport) and into Portland Oregon! Clear day and I was able to see the Twin Sisters Peaks all the way up to Mount Hood (with Jefferson and others rising in between, and yes besides Jefferson I was able to name them off one by one in the while in the plane...I'm a bit of a mountain nerd to be really blunt). The plane turned slightly and bang there is Mount Adams, St. Helens and Rainier as well. Amazing to believe because of the drastic rise of the mountains that you can see that many different peaks from an airplane window. Most awesome scenery type thing I have ever seen. My nerd level and love of mountains was swagging hard.

Now off to get a microbrew, some food of the fish variety and go explore downtown until my buddy gets off work. Then its time to see amazing strip clubs, breweries, the packers kicking the shit out of the 49ers and a party in Astoria. Most excited I've ever been for a vacation.

:idk: I like mountains. Skiing, hiking, visual beauty. People that don't like mountains would be much more weird imo.

Asking my buddy tonight. I'm sure he has ideas but if you have a place you would recommend without a doubt I'll ask him.

Welp, my buddy needs to get off work. I pulled my luggage around so many blocks downtown that the wheels are almost completely worn down.

I'm just amazed at the number of people walking the streets. Also the number of hotties :beerchug:

The Oregon Historical Society was also badass. Probably the best historical society I've seen.

I would but back when I lived in Lincoln I was one of those bikers. Of course I was one that used trails at all possible times and actually stopped at lights and got the fuck over. Those that don't obey the road rules can/should be ran over.

Just joking around, although a lot of them in the Seattle/Portland areas give zero fucks about the traffic around them/obeying rules. But my roommate actually got clocked by a truck two months ago that tagged him at 30 mph. He was stalled in the road waiting to turn. Thankfully he had his helmet on (which a lot of dipshits don't) so he got off with a broken back.

That would suck, hope his recovery goes smooth. But I agree, gotta wear a helmet.

Should be great weather all week up here. Assuming you are into micro-brews and strip clubs you have a lot of work cut out for you this week.

We are hitting up 3-4 microbreweries tomorrow. My old roommate (kid I'm visiting) goes to Oregon State to learn to brew beer and make wine so he works at a winery and we both love good micros. I made sure I told him we need to hit up a good strip club. Also hiking and hitting up a party in Astoria on Saturday (I'm praying to god that I can hold them off on the party until after the Husker game).

Besides the day we are hiking I will be drunk the entire time. Heading to Deschutes here in about 15 minutes. :beerchug: I haven't found one of their brews I don't enjoy so I'm looking forward to it.

The one downtown is great and within walking distance of a lot of other good bars and breweries.

Henry's Tavern has something like 100+ beers on tap. I always recommend it to people who visit.

The beauty of Oregon. if you get a chance, hit up bend mid march. That's usually about the time of Bend winterfest, cheap motel rooms, mountain 25 min away, tons of fucking awesome craft brews and (of course) tons of drunk hot snow bunnies.
