Only way I would ever consider moving Sharpe is if we could pair him with Nurk and that fucking contract and get an AS or someone on the cusp of becoming one in return

i still don't like the Murray pick though it is humorous that we sniped him from the Kings at #24. I would've much preferred Leonard Miller or Nnaji.

I went into the draft week so optimistic we would pull off some big trades but realty hit Wednesday morning when it felt like things wouldn't happen. I envisioned us trading for Zion and Jarrett Allen plus resigning Grant and Thybulle and having a pretty damn good rotation.

This was a really good breakdown on Scoot:

I think Brandon Miller has a better avenue for being good (high floor with his shooting and high ceiling with his size) but I'm excited to see Scoot after re-watching a bunch of highlights.

It's clear to me we need to trade Dame now so I'm hoping he (privately) requests a trade. That sucks to realize - again, I thought we could build a good team this offseason with him - but Scoot/Shaedon/future draft comp from Dame is a really good starting point. My biggest fear is that we try and build a winner now (resign Grant, trade Simons) because I just don't think that's feasible with where I'd expect Scoot and Shaedon to be at next year. The problem is Jody; it seems like she'd be willing to just let it ride with Dame and earn the income from having a superstar player. Please, no trade with the Bulls for Lavine or Derozen!

Saw the 1080 fan poll on Twitter asking if we should focus on Miami/Brooklyn or get the best return. 65% are wanting the best return

Love Dame, he was definitely loyal beyond the current norm, but I’m in no way going out of my way to make him happy and getting back less in return. Enjoy that Philly weather, if need be.

Don’t seem why the Blazers would want any combination of Herro, Robinson or Lowry just a terrible trade haul

This is my guess at the move that'll be announced in the coming days. I do think they end up getting Dame to Miami.

Portland gets Jovic (2022 Miami 1st rounder) + rights to Clowney (one of Brooklyn's 2023 1st rounders) + 2 future 1st rounders from Miami + 1 future 1st round pick swap option from Miami + 1 future 1st from Brooklyn. They take on Duncan Robinson ($54M/3yr left) and expiring deals in Dinwiddie and Lowry (both buyout candidates or maybe traded again at the deadline).

Miami gets Dame, Nurkic, and Keon Johnson as a throw-in.

    Brooklyn gets Herro.

It's not a fair price in the end but Jovic+Clowney are promising prospects who are both 6'10 and you're also getting out of the Nurkic deal with this move.

getting crazy with the trade machine....

    Screenshot 2023-07-05 at 11.44.31 PM.png

Boston seems like they still need to make a move as they're down two rotational guys from last year and have added just KP (who played >60 games for the first time since the 2016-2017 season last year). What if they try and get in on the Herro sweepstakes? They have lots of picks and this trade machine doesn't even seem to count the ones they received for Smart. (Ignore the Stepien rule thing... the trade doesn't work with Jaquez Jr anyways so I wasn't particular about the specific firsts that would need to go out from them.)

Portland gets two picks and a swap from Miami, two picks from Boston, Miami's two recent first rounders, and a couple of contracts/players in Brogdon and Robinson that could be worth a pick in the future.

Miami gets Dame and keeps Caleb Martin. They unprotect their 2026 pick to OKC to facilitate the trade. For their trouble, OKC gets Pritchard who wants out of Boston.

    Who is saying no here?

Would you guys do this? I'm mainly wondering about the Herro for the Pistons parts. You're getting 3 firsts and 2 swaps from Miami, along with Duncan and Jovic (the rumored deal that's out there with some extra draft capital).

Essentially, would you rather have Herro or the random lottery tickets that are Wiseman, Bagley and Livers. I'd do this if I were the Pistons, but we can't trade 1st rounders until 2029 and I don't think I would trade that one in our shoes for Herro. I never really considered it before today, but Stein and Haynes apparently reported that we were a potential third team in this deal and I'm trying to figure out how/why.

I actually had a different attempt where I added the Knicks (who own the Pistons' protected pick through 2027) as a fourth team. That would have sent Bogdanovic to NYK, Fournier's $18M expiring to POR, and Nurkic and DET's first round pick to DET.

I think that bridges the gap on Herro's value and is kind of the best POR could do, but at this point I'm not sure what the Knicks are getting out of that.

No, I don't think so. As you noted, the parts from Miami are basically solidified (though I'd also want their new pick Jacquez Jr) so the trade here is Herro for Wiseman and Bagley. I don't think that's really workable for Portland as those guys are closer to, "sign cheaply on a short-term deal to see if a change of scenery helps" young guys and not, "let's acquire these guys to pair with our young guys" young guys. Obviously Portland doesn't really need Herro but he's still more valuable than those two IMO.

(Also, Portland already had a chance to acquire Wiseman last year for the GPII exchange and decided on a bunch of second round picks instead. While the contract situation is different this offseason, I still don't think he's someone they value and I don't think his skillset really fits what Portland wants with the PnR both offensively and defensively).

Now if you want to start talking about Duren, then I think Portland is all ears.
