They're uglier than fuck but I like altras. Most comfortable sneaker I've ever owned. Pretty much eliminates any sort of description of casual though. They're truly hideous looking.
I second the Salomon longevity problem. The shoes just got “loose” quickly and treads wear abnormally fast.
The treads are kinda like mud tires if you do a lotta highway driving...don’t last if you do a lot of pavement stomping. The pair I have just for trail lasts a long time. Once i retire that pair and move it to weekend/weedeating/errand shoes they go slick fast. But by then the insoles are kinda fucked anyway.
I'll probably buy them again because I like them and that's what matters, but they get ratty pretty quick for me.
That’s How I feel about my vasque sundowners. They are a good cut, but for the last two pairs then leather has split and crumbled way too fast. But they fit me so well I cave and buy them again.
My outsole started coming off mine about 5 miles from my truck. I ended up having to rip it off and walk 2+ miles on the bare leather. FWIW, it held up.
It fucking sucks. But so does buying a mattress or anything that isn’t ‘fun.’ Those are also your most important purchases. That shirt you wear once every 3 weeks has drastically less impact on your life than tires or a mattress. Having said that, it’s why I also like to spend money on wine and whiskey (because, yes, they do suck). But necessary expenditures suck and are the ones you should suck up and spend the most on.
Within reason. Obviously it depends on the vehicle you drive and how you intend to drive it, but there are plenty of reasonably priced tires that will be as safe/safer than super expensive tires if properly taken care of. Big fan of spending money on shoes and mattresses, though. Both make me happy.
It looks like one of your pics is not showing up for me, but you don’t like Andygator? Edit: Good eye, by the way.
I just started with Sonos by purchasing a Playbase. Enjoying it so far. Probably gonna dive right in and develop a Sonos ecosystem.
Make sure you explore Alexa-Sonos combo. They did a fantastic job. Anywhere in my house now I just say "Alexa play ___ in (whatever room)" and bam instant music in that room. Its so convenient.
You should take a look at the speakers on outdoorspeakerdepot.com, they are owned by the company that also owns m&k speakers and carver audio. I took a flier and ordered a pair of in-ceilings from them for atmos duty. They actually use high quality parts in the cross over, have pretty good measured frequency response (I checked with an omnimic) and are dirt cheap. Main reason I took the chance was that the crossover appeared to use way better parts than everything in the same price range from guys like polk. Also I saw your ht list in the other thread, you should upgrade that shitty ass klipsch sub to something else, and with all that ORIG money get a receiver with proper room eq as well...
Danner makes my favorite boots. Been wearing the Quarry 2 GTX comp toes for most of 10 years to work in. Almost zero break in time for me. Hope you are as satisfied as I have been. I have been through more pairs of laces than boots in the last decade, and I feel like that speaks to the durability of their product.
Is there a TV buying thread that I just can't find? If not, does anyone have a rec on a 65"+ that's under $2,500?
My theater room is above reproach. I got a noise complaint from my neighbor last week. I was watching the second to last Star Wars movie with my daughter the day before we saw The Last Jedi. My theater room has extra insulation, then we have a gap between our houses, then I presume she has insulation, and through all that she heard it in her house. The crystals on her chandelier were rattling. I was so proud.
Cool, that means someone with more television knowledge than myself should have no problem recommending the best one.
https://www.bestbuy.com/site/search...as&iht=n&seeAll=&browsedCategory=abcat0101000 have fun; TVs are cheap as shit right now.
Thanks man. I don't know that a 75" would work in this space, but the 65" for like half the price? Sold.
Others probably know better, but You really can't go wrong with the "big brands" Sony, Samsung, LG.... Definitely invest some of your budget in audio. and if wall mounting do not get suckered into buying shit from Best Buy or one of those. Cords and everything else can come from Amazon.
I bought a Samsung KS8500 last year(Feb) and went back and forth between the sony and lg comparable models. Still need one more for the media room. Love the sony 930 model. I think that's the one I'd buy if I were you. edit, or the sony 900. I think I'd go with the 900. 930 is nice but more.
I’d highly recommend the new Sony line. They are Alexa compatible and are amazing. “Alexa turn on office TV” “Alexa turn on ESPN” “Alexa turn up volume” Don’t have to worry about the kids hiding the remote any more. https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B01M...ny+tv+2017&dpPl=1&dpID=41BzAMz8IpL&ref=plSrch
if you're willing to pay for it (and it's under $2500 now, so you should be), the LG OLED is the definitive answer.
best picture quality, actual real blacks, not just dark gray. there are times when my TV is on but the screen is blank while watching something that I'm worried it shut off before something else shows up on screen.
My patio TV bit the dust today - need something in the 50" range. Cheap, but would be good outdoors - any recs? The TCL roku TV?
I almost bought an OLED but decided against it. Too much at the time and with it being organic based.. what happens when that shit starts to die. You'll start losing pixels? They're the best picture, agreed. My Samsungs blacks are off and that's the only thing about it that I'm not happy with. The Sonys get pretty black and it really depends on where you're going to put the tv and which you like. My tv is in my living room and its super bright in there and so I went with the brighter tv. Media room has one window that has limited sun coverage.. So, I'll go with a tv that can get darker. check this site out. really good info. https://www.rtings.com/
No idea on true outdoors but I really like the TCL we bought for tailgating and it has survived rain and snow but only in small doses.
Oh, I agree with that, I’m not advocating spending the most, more of avoiding spending pennies on the dollars for ‘all terrain’ tires. Especially in an area like I do. Rain for 4-5 straight months and next to the mountains and the snow and turns. Buying shitty tires and not getting them rotated, regular maintenance is stupid as shit.
Not hiking boots but absolutely life changing: Ugg All Leather Ascots. They make sweet love to your feet. I catch myself looking forward to going home and putting them on. I think I got the idea from someone ITT. THANK YOU!
It has been cold as a witch's tit in NJ since before Christmas so maybe it's the wrong time for me to comment and I've only had them about a week but I've had no problems with sweaty foot so far and I've been wearing them with wool socks. My feet are neither hot or cold, they're juuuuuust right. Ugg encourages wear without socks but much like you I'm concerned about sweaty foot and then the inability to dry properly and the accompanying funk so I'll always have on at least a no show. I was pleased to find out Ugg carries replacement wool insoles for these and many of their wool foot bed shoes/slippers so when the time comes I can always replace them.
