All of this is relative. We the North go through 4ish months in the teens so yeah a 90 degree day would be rough — just as y’all go into hibernation when it dips below 45.
Well if you're used to it and don't have to wear heavier coats, wouldn't it make more sense for those that are not used to it to wear more layers/heavier coats?
Yes, it does, I wasn't throwing shade, I just chuckle. Hell DrunkJester is one hell of a dude. Same as guys from the south laughing at our lacking frat gear game.
Anymore I throw on a few lightweight baselayers and a light hoody. Haven't worn a winter coat yet this year Originally from south Florida and northern colorado is much easier for me to live in though I have seen comfort indexes say Sofla is significantly nicer.. fuck that
I could never live in Florida. I would need to shower four times a day from the amount of sweat that would pour out of my body.
Honestly the worst part of any of this is the dramatic weather change. It went from 30’s Tuesday, to 50-60 Wednesday/Thursday (melted all the snow), then last night we got about 6-7 inches dumped on us and it’s currently 12 degrees. Every damn time I get nasal drip and want to murder someone
Base layers really are the key. I used to laugh at people spending money on "under armour" but I'll be damned if i don't a own a fuck ton of stuff from all the brands that are lower layers. I hate wearing heavy winter coats so thin and effective has become life.
I like a good wool baslayer. I found some ibex and icebreakers on sale and bought enough to get me through the next 20 winters. So long as I don’t get extra shmedium sized again.
Same here. Those plus Woolrich and Orvis comprise my entire winter wardrobe, I think. Plus a Barbour jacket.
That's tough, but fair. I am definitely weak when it comes to cold temperatures. I'm from the Gulf Coast, and I start getting cold when it drops below 60. I just experienced a week or so of temperatures in the single digits to low teens in southwest VA, which prompted this purchase. I'll move to D.C. in the fall, where it will get just as cold if not colder. If I have to dress like an Inuit to walk a couple of blocks without feeling like I'm getting hypothermia, then so be it.
Been a good day: Most of the Sonos setup was courtesy of my wife's annual continuing education allotment for 2017 being repurposed
Somehow missed this. It's sweet that you thought I might be from a desirable location on the Gulf Coast. I'm from the Mississippi Gulf Coast. The only folks that come to our beaches are gamblers and cajuns. Not that I don't love where I'm from. But it's not Florida.
I'll allow it, but 2/10 on the snowfall. That's weak shit. Not to mention roads are mostly clear. Shocked you made it to work. Spoiler
Oh I'm not at work. That beautiful view of the intersection is out my living room window. You're right, this isn't much snow at all. But there are wrecks everywhere. Two of my coworkers had problems trying to get to work. One got in a wreck. I'm going nowhere. It is funny though, my parents in south Mississippi have gotten more snow than we have this winter.
Shit looks icy even from that picture, One nice thing about getting 10" at a time is we never really get ice just snow pack until a melt off. Enjoy your day home. TMB and netflix can be a hell of a drug.
hahaha, Honestly I ass-u-me-d that he had a big ass house in the burbs. I'm double jealous now. I love the city life.
Debating on whether to buy this Filson log carrier on sale at Domestic Domestic. I don't have a fireplace or anywhere to burn wood. But this thing looks like it would boost my testosterone and make me grow more chest hair. Like something Ron Swanson would have. As you can probably tell, I'm really enjoying this snow day. Spoiler: Log carrier
Moves out in August, bought a house in Blacksburg. Not sure we’ve met per-say, but I bet we shared the elevator.
It's a pretty good shop. You just have to avoid the Arkansas stuff, unless you're into that type of thing.
Thoughts on wearing a sweater with a suit/tie to a wedding? Going to a wedding tomorrow night on the North Shore of Lake Ponchartrain. It's outdoors and supposed to be in the low 40's after sundown. Since I've gone from 3XL to L I can no longer wear my nice overcoat, and at this point will probably wait until next winter to buy one so I'm thinking sweater. Or just get really tanked prior so I can't feel the cold.
