I moved to DC in August and said I’d give myself until Thanksgiving to decide whether to get rid of my truck. I used it a couple of times after I first moved to go to Home Depot and Lowe’s, but not since then. Pretty sure I’m getting rid of it. Reading these posts makes me happy that I don’t have to worry about making the financial commitment to a new vehicle. That’s not something I ever thought I would say growing up in rural Mississippi.
Ultimate luxury doesn’t typically come in confined packages. Once that digital dash boots up and you take off, its like coasting in a spaceship. If you’re set on an SUV, may I suggest the Rolls Royce Cullinan that was just released. The built in tailgate seats will be perfect for Death Valley Saturday’s.
Not sure that's a downgrade. Right now the XC90 is the leader in the clubhouse for me, though I still want to test drive the new Tahoe (current Tahoe driver) first. The price difference isn't drastic, but the Volvo has a much better tech package, IMO IYAM.
pulled into the parking garage this morning behind an X3. Parked next to her and the driver was drop dead gorgeous. hope that helps
I bought this 2 weeks ago to drive back and forth to work. 1997 Honda Civic, 223,000 miles with a complete service history from my mechanic, runs like a clock and I got it for $1400.00. 32 mpg
But then I bought this for $600.00 today because the invasion has already begun: It's probably overkill.
What's the best large domestic SUV right now? Expedition, Yukon, Tahoe? My mom is looking and my dad has tasked me with the hunt. We are a Ford family but she seems to want to buck the trend. She drove an Edge she loved but thinks is too small. She want's all the bells and whistles, anything foreign that I should look at? I take stake in this because I buy her cars from my dad when she gets tired of them at like 20k miles and she moves on. I keep pushing her to a smaller Mercedes or something because she loves to flex on her friends but she has a desire for something bigger. Price range is like 70k.
Lincoln Navigator. I’ve heard good things about the Platinum Expedition which would be closer to the 70k price range. Also, the Mercedes GLS if she wants to go foreign. I like the look of the Infiniti QX80, but at this point I’d wait until they refresh their interior and infotainment system, which is dated.
She had a Navigator years ago when I was in high school I fucking loved that thing, Not sure my old man will come off the coin though. I've built the one she wants and it's like 90k. I'll check out a GLS. I nearly bought a used one years ago before we started in family recycling.
Power is not an issue. The majority of days it never leaves the house. And he she has like 0 HW miles. Ride does though. She loves the way the Edge drives and hates the way the truck they have does so I need to find a happy a medium.
That's what she currently has, she is pretty ardent about not getting another for some reason, I think it's great.
Not really weird. My dad tasks me with this stuff because she will believe me. If he suggests something she'll complain he is being cheap, if I do she will generally take my sales line. He obviously wants to spend the least possible but he also wants something she'll like. It's weird in that I am an only child so we have a weird dynamic and both parents know i know how to play the other. Did the same thing with a steel roof on their house not long ago, I'm like the family arbitrator.
Where are the Sonos experts? My living room can't be wired easily for surround sound, does anyone have the whole package(link)?
yes hello - I had this setup in my living room, but that TV was being used mostly for Disney Junior so I moved it to my bedroom, complete overkill but I like it. May add a bass again in the living room, but it still sounds good without it for normal TV watching. Also, have Sonos throughout the rest of the house including the smaller playbar (the beam) and love all of them.
No issues at all, one speaker has to be wired to your router and it creates its own wifi network (something like that, but just put a Play 1 by your router). The playbar is connected through an optical audio cable, the new beam can use an HDMI and an ARC (?) connection. I'm not an audiophile, or very technically savvy and it's easy as can be to set up and operate.
Just a remider that Sonos is not truly wireless they still need plugged in. I’ve seen people not account for being near an outlet.
I have a Beam and multiple Play 1's/One's and do not have any directly wired to a router. The only wiring, aside from a power outlet, is the HDMI cord for the Beam. Not sure if Playbar is different in that respect since it's older. I do have issues with the Beam where the audio is out of sync with the video (e.g., hearing something before the speaker's lips move). I have tried various tricks to try and correct the issue, including adjusting for the delay in the Sonos software and adjusting my TV's audio settings, but have not found a perfect fix that works for all inputs. HD Antenna seems to be worse about this than Apple TV, despite the Beam being plugged directly into the TV.
Have it. Speakers are bad ass. Just make sure you have 2.4 channel on your router. I have mesh and from time to time have issues. I'm going to hook up my old dual band router as well and use it just for Sonos to solve the problem.
It’s been a while since I’ve looked into it- but I believe you can run all Sonos wirelessly, but if you’re able to hook up 1 with a wired connection you’ll have better performance. Have Eero mesh as well.
Mine are all wireless on a mesh network(Orbi) and they work fine. Have a Beam in the basement for the kids TV, a sonos one in the living room, and a connect:amp powering the outdoor speakers.
There were some sunglasses posted in here a few months back that i bought and immediately lost. I can’t find my receipt but was hoping someone might repost so I can buy them again.
steamengine Shady Rays were posted here recently, along with another brand. I bought the Shady Rays and have been happy so far. Good quality polarization at the $30-40 price point so I don’t mind if they take a beating.
Volvo XC 60 is in that price range, but about the same size as the Edge. But them massaging front seats. I’m fighting off getting one for Mrs. Fafa fofo.
Her current Explorer has the massaging seats, i accidentally turned them on once and it freaked me the hell out. Now I love them when I borrow her car.
I got the Playbase a couple months ago and it's awesome. It has surprisingly good bass but I'm still going to get the sub. My end game for my living room is to have a Playbase, sub, and two Play 1's. Question is to you guys who have more of the products than me at this point....do I get the 2 Play 1's next or the sub next? I could just buy all at once but in my mind I want to spread the purchases out a bit so I don't feel so guilty for spending that much on their stuff.
Having multiple speakers around the house was the best/most used upgrade for me...after that, I'd say the bass, then add the rear play ones for surround.
If you have a play base with sufficient sub right now, I’d get the Play 1’s and then the sub. I’m going to be purchasing a Sub soon myself. The Beam doesn’t have enough bass IMO.
