Set of 4 stainless stemless lidded wine cups. Aka, the adult sippy cup. Not dishwasher safe but we end up hand washing most of the wine glasses anyway.

I scoffed when I saw them in the cart at Costco but have quickly come around:

Same, I like it chilled sometimes but I had a wine snob tell me "red wine should never be chilled" and I have only kept whites in there since. I might give these cups a try.

I’m not big on whites but am also radically democratic when it comes to my alcohol consumption, so (more than) a few chilled whites slip past the goalie. We don’t normally chill reds unless they’re a rose, moscato, dessert wine, etc..., but I don’t mind a chilled red either.

We got these because we try to hang out and eat most of our meals on the patio, and Lady Pokes can’t stand bugs in her glass. Also figured they’d be good for camping. And our dogs have a sixth sense for spilling reds on the outdoor furniture. Temperature control wasn’t high on the list of priorities, but they do a decent job at that too; not like a yeti coozie but good enough. Since we bought them I don’t think we’ve used the glass set once.

    55° F

The ideal temperature range is between 45° F and 65° F (and 55° F is often cited as close to perfect), though this isn't an exact science. Don't fret too much if your storage runs a couple degrees warmer, as long as you're opening the bottles within a few years from their release.

Ray McKigney You NYGator and any other desk enthusiasts.

Sure thing. Here are a couple of before/after photos, with added captions for context.

    Before
    Old Desk, Old Setup (~2013):
This is from Target (maybe they call it a "writing desk"?, I forget). About $50. That's an ancient 27" monitor for scale. Nice sliding keyboard drawer. The front face of the draw folds down, so its functional, while still hiding the keyboard tray.
    IMAG1016.jpg

    Old Desk, New Setup (2018)
Same desk, different room. I upgraded to dual monitors (and happened to have played around with vertical orientation briefly). Generally neat/clean, but not much usable space. DVI cables are unplugged because I was breaking down my setup to transition to the Uplift desk. I still have the old target desk, it has held up fine - it is my printer stand now.
    MVIMG_20180814_174929.jpg

    After
    New Desk, Setup 1.0 (2018)
    • This is the Uplift Standing Desk (V1, superseded by V2, out now) with 60" Rubberwood in light brown
    • $500 via pickup from their factory showroom in Austin. I lucked out in my research in that the brand of desk I wanted just happened to be located in my hometown, and only 5 minutes from my home
    • The keyboard trays were not sturdy enough for my liking, hence keyboard being placed on the desktop.
    • Blah setup. I only had this setup temporarily. I prefer landscape orientation.
    MVIMG_20180815_192153.jpg

    New Desk, Setup 2.0 (today)
    • I added the locking under desk drawer ($150, expensive, but worth it).
    • I use two large mouse pads because I don't want to knick the surface. Yes, it doesn't look as nice, but I often have a tablet or phone set on the left side, hence looking like its intended for an ambidextrous user. My surface is in much better condition due to extra protection.
    • 4 way height memory might seem like overkill, but I use 3 of them, and my wife uses the 4th.
    • The Black wood/metal stand are random ikea parts I had. It really increases usable surface area given all of the equipment I now have on it.
    • That is 2x27" monitors for scale. Absolute units from Dell.
    • Cool feature in last pic - a built in power outlet on the surface of the desk.
    • White power cord actually is running somewhere else. The entire desk is powered by black cord.
    1467245663.png
    MVIMG_20191029_134733.jpg

Setup 3.0? I might buy a larger desktop.

I bought a pc mounting kit for my desk. I decided not to use it though, because I wanted more leg room and I can recess my pc further back and out of the way and the wires are long enough when I raise the desk. Last picture looks much better. That said, the stuff on top really detracts from it's look. Doesn't the desk have a warranty for surface damage? Objectively protecting it from scratches makes sense if you are doing it in a way that makes it look good, but if you are making it uglier by doing so then what are you protecting it from? The desk should be seen, IMO.

Yeah, I thought about that. Ended up mounting it, but could go either way. My custom pc case is rather wide and barely fits in the PC mount brackets. I want to drop my pc into a new case, but haven't found one that fits into my mount...newer pc cases are too wide. Ultimately, mounting makes cable management a little harder, to which I haven't devoted enough time to. The possibility is there, just need to block and tackle it.

Re the surface: I selected Rubberwood (which I'm not familiar with) because it was the nicest material they had in their showroom at the time. I didn't want a composite/laminate. Rubberwood is a softer wood that makes it more susceptible to dents and also moisture. I'm being overly cautious at the moment. Agreed, that the natural wood is beautiful on its own. If I was taking vanity pictures, I would definitely remove the 3 protective covers. Sometimes I eat at the desk too, etc. Is your varidesk laminate surface warrantied from scratches?

Yes the Varidesk is warrantied against scratches, chips etc for 5 years. Rubberwood is a type of less expensive wood that is very environmentally friendly. My guess is they do warranty it against those types of issues, but you should check. I also eat at mine. I literally live in my office and I have stuff all over the desk. I do use coasters, but the surface also has a waxy finish to it, which seems protective as well. I even bought surf wax just in case.

I built three PC's in the past couple of months so if you need any advice on cases let me know. I researched the shit out of them. Originally what inspired me to redo my office was the fact that I was going to buy one of these sit to stand PC Case desks. I decided that it was too much work and went the easy route on the varidesk and I couldn't be happier.

lucky you. My surface is technically considered factory seconds or something like that, but there were not any defects on the primary surface, only on the side that isn't visible when in use. Like you, I would say replacing would be more trouble than it's worth, just for the time and effort to disassemble and exchange. With a long term vision of going from 60>72" desktop, I'll keep that in my back pocket.

If you know of a case (less than 209mm/8.25") with a front panel usb-c connector, I'm all ears. Using Newegg sorting and PCPartPicker, I have not found a single one yet. I prefer all black but that's not in vogue anymore. My case is from 2012, so I would like one with more modern front i/o from both connector and speed, but I cannot due to the width of my pc mount bracket.

You got a great deal on the desk at $500,s o it makes sense.

Hmm, you are using good sources for case selection, so it may be a challenge. I just built a smaller NZXT case in black for my friend's son that came out awesome, but that width may be a challenge.

They never made my jaw rattle, but maybe someone with a rickety jaw may have a different experience.

They don’t get as loud as in-ear or over-ear phones of course, but they were plenty loud enough for everything I did with them except air travel. I found that on some planes if I sat in an area with more engine noise I couldn’t hear them very well.

Yeah, at least to a degree. They don't have full product lineup (e.g. every surface and size option) at that Anderson Rd showroom. The salespeople there are very knowledgeable and if you are willing to purchase there, they might throw you a bone on an accessory or alternate desktop if you are spending enough. They are more broadly an ergonomics company (crazy computer mice, stools, chairs, etc) but their biggest product is the uplift desk. I believe their sales and support team is based from Austin, likely warehouse/shipping too but I'm not sure.

They have (or at least had, I haven't been inside in 12 months and no longer live in Austin) an offer for local buyers. It was $500 for frame, switch w/ 4-way memory, and desktop of your choosing based on what is in stock (which might technically be samples and returns) but I found the one pictured above that I was happy with. My

They also sell new desks at full price, but the $500 deal requires you to choose from available supply and transport (e.g. no shipping) yourself.

edit: looks like it is now only $450. https://www.thehumansolution.com/austin-scratch-and-dent-special/

My dad went with white and a different surface, but is an absolute psychopath with his cables.
