    Red Sparowes are great. Their latest album is fantastic, but you can't go wrong with any of them. They did a split with Gregor Samsa so I'll post some of their stuff too;

    Young and Old - Gregor Samsa

    post-rock is really broad, so i'm guessing you mean like the instrumental type.

    the best MONO album is their collaboration with world's end girlfriend (Palmless Prayer/Mass Murder Refrain).

    Bumping for later. Listening to Russian Circle's Melee now. Contains cello, I like. Sounds like the end credits of a disaster movie, though.

    Alot of the instrumental stuff is going to sound like "soundtrack music" to those unfamiliar with it -- and partially because that's what its derived from, to a certain extent. Post-rock owes a lot to kraut-rock/komische music which was German artists and art-rock/ambient artists like Brian Eno. Many of whom were involved in making soundtracks at some point in their career. Some of these artists are approached to do soundtracks as well. But I wouldn't let film inform your opinion of the music, but the inverse (if at all possible).

    After listening to some of the posted songs, I dl'd just about everything in here. Perfect music for studying as a lot of it is instrumental.

    Awesome. Now we should get together in Nashville, drink high-grav beers and wax philosophical about the value of post-rock. :D

    Haven’t really listened to this stuff in years. I guess I’ll have to dig back through it. Post Rock pioneer Mark Hollis died recently.
