the great mystery in my life is why like almost all the Guthrie’s closed like 10 years ago. That place was the Floribama equivalent of Canes.

Over expanded too fast and the dude running shit got out of hand for a bit. They are doing it right this time around. Their chicken and sauce are the best.

The Guthrie’s in Gainesville being in a gas station didn’t help its cause, but a gut box was an elite drunk food option.

The gas station model is how they are rolling for many of their locations now. The best location here is in a gas station. Outlasted the original location.

I worked at a Guthrie's in highschool and was promoted to manager almost immediately, NBD, AMA. The story I heard was Guthrie's busted because the kids were using it as a piggy bank, renting private jets, funding the party, constantly and literally had their hands in the register.

I am guessing the franchise must have been founded in AU because that is how they have always spun it from a marketing stand point. The piggy bank thing absolutely happened. Hell their regular employees were using the register like that too.

 

I always thought it was weird that people called the Gainesville store “Gooth-rees.”
