We will see where this goes. All genres have protest songs. Post your favorites here. Thought about bringing it up in the Jesse Wells thread but don't want to swamp that with other stuff. Here's another Arkansas guy I'd love to see team up with Jesse for a tour/single/anything. Nick Shoulders, probably started to blow up a little bit last year after touring with Sierra Ferrell for a bit. Former punk rock guy turned folk country. But a lot of socially conscious music, some great art and reading from him as well. Post your recent favs and your all time classics. FDT
Another Arkansas guy on Nick Shoulder's record label Gar Hole (recommend all their artists) just put out this single, think he'll be announcing an album in a couple days with a new single.
Ohio - CSNY Man In Black - Johnny Cash War Pigs - Black Sabbath Land of Confusion - Genesis Beds are Burning - Midnight Oil Sunday Bloody Sunday - U2 Another Brick in the Wall (Part II) - Pink Floyd
This was written about trump in 2016 and it's even more poignant now obviously. Saw this guy open for dbt in Atlanta and the song blew my mind.
I appreciate the sentiment and I have definitely grown as a person. Im sure theres lot of language and maybe some posts where I used some regrettable words but we've mostly matured and moved on from that. But my distaste for the American political system was often construed to be chud like behavior. And I never thought arguing with the trumpers was effective (it wasn't, most were just banned, which was the right call). And other than a short period of wrestling with faith/catholicism from senior year of HS into Freshman year of college, I've always been a progressive minded person. I wore pro abortion bracelets in catholic HS. I voted for Obama twice, including my first time voting. I was a Bernie Bro. I can thank my dad (and mom) and especially his taste in music and his job affording us the opportunity to travel abroad at an early age for expanding my world view. But I can see how discussions on this board have been fruitful for some so I'm willing to engage a bit more. But mostly I try to spend less time online now. Anyway, sorry if I've ever been a dickhead. I probably will be again. It's in my nature.
