Re: are there enough punk music fans to have an official punk discussion topic here jesse michaels was but he was in op ivy under the alias Lint he was also in rancid and transplants and does his own thing now which was posted before. No band matches Op Ivy though for me. Also liked Lars Freidereksen9sp) and the bastards for those that liked rancid
Re: are there enough punk music fans to have an official punk discussion topic here my bad. he wasn't the lead singer but he was definitely in the op ivey
Re: are there enough punk music fans to have an official punk discussion topic here Correct leftnodoubt he def was and was a major part of them as well as rancid two very influential punk bands.

Re: are there enough punk music fans to have an official punk discussion topic here listening to the flatliners album so much The Flatliners - New Years Resolutions
Re: are there enough punk music fans to have an official punk discussion topic here Fucking love the new album... but the album sounds to me exactly like what American Slang would have been if The Gaslight Anthem would have let the Springsteen comparisons overtake their sound. The Springsteen sound on this album is just ridiculous and look at the photo on their Myspace... the one dude looks exactly like he's trying to be Brian Fallon ha
Re: are there enough punk music fans to have an official punk discussion topic here I probably mentioned this a ways back, but everyone should kop the sole album by guns n' wankers. Such a great album.
Re: are there enough punk music fans to have an official punk discussion topic here Hey guys anyone listening to anything new? been on an indie kick lately but was listening to Alkaline Trio and figured it was time to start seeing whats new on the punk scene.
Re: are there enough punk music fans to have an official punk discussion topic here As I start to listen Im instantly attracted to this band, ruteel you might have heard them before. Listen to Savage- http://www.punknews.org/bands/rainoverbattle
Re: are there enough punk music fans to have an official punk discussion topic here lemme throw this in too big fans now..... http://www.punknews.org/bands/smalltownriot
Re: are there enough punk music fans to have an official punk discussion topic here H/T, just peruse this thread, you'll find some good shit. Check out a band called the Line's album, auricle. It's not well known, but it's my favorite punk album of all time.
Re: are there enough punk music fans to have an official punk discussion topic here been in this thread for a while, punk is actually a genre I know a lot about and where to get new music but with so many different bands its hard to get ttime for everything. Pops had me listening to punk/ska when I was born. He played in a couple bands actually they are having a pretty big show tomorrow here in SC with all the older more influential punk bands getting back together and performing, Will be the first time ive actually seen him play live other than fucking around in his studio. /lookatme http://www.facebook.com/event.php?eid=122525897775295&index=1
Re: are there enough punk music fans to have an official punk discussion topic here On the phone, so I can't open your link. Which bands are performing, and who did your old man play with?
Re: are there enough punk music fans to have an official punk discussion topic here would be surprised if you recognized the names cus they were underground type of stuff in SC but The Sex Mutants Up-Tight Plus another band I cant recall. If you ever check out a band thats kinda punk/horror ska/similar to the misfits but not called The Independents they playe dwith him and still play. Good band and good guys too. I have baby pictures with Tim Armstrong, Joey Ramone and Johnny, and a shit load of others. My parents would put on punk shows at the local American legion and had some huge names play. I could sit and listen to their stories for hours on.
Re: are there enough punk music fans to have an official punk discussion topic here That's pretty damn awesome. I still love Rancid's albums up to and out come the wolves.
Re: are there enough punk music fans to have an official punk discussion topic here forgot to add that The Independents were managed by Joey Ramone and had a major record deal on the table he told them to decline because he knew for sure there would be plenty of other offers. Joey died shortly after and they never got a major deal again lol heres their myspace page with their music on it if you get to a computer and feel like checking them out. http://www.myspace.com/theindependents recommend listening to little blue and do it again as well as others.
Re: are there enough punk music fans to have an official punk discussion topic h can someone list some of the better mainstream (only ones I would know) punk songs over the last 10 years or so. I need to KOP
Re: are there enough punk music fans to have an official punk discussion topic here fucking love nofx
Re: are there enough punk music fans to have an official punk discussion topic here Ok so what was mainstream to me most likely wasn't mainstream to you but here's some suggestions just based on what is on my iPhone there's obviously so much more I could add but this is long enough. Enjoy. Against All Authority- all fall down, another fucking song, just an obstruction. Really I love all of their stuff. Anti Flag- easily my favorite band but bright lights of America, discord your government, the great depression, hymn for the dead, no apology, no borders no nations. Bad Religion- really everything for them as well but against the grain, American Jesus, atomic garden, infected, Los angeles is burning, social suicide, sorrow, suffer, 21st century digital boy. Bouncing Souls- anchors aweigh, sing along forever, gone Choking victim- crack rock steady, five finger discount, suicide, 500 channels. Defiance, Ohio- this is more folk punk but great....enough Dropkick murphys- so much to add here but, bar room hero, boys on the dock, fortunate son, the gauntlet, good rats, heroes of the past, Johnny I hardly knew ya, knock me' down. Good riddance- boys and girls, darkest days, flies first class, man of god. Guttermouth- can I borrow some ambition, contribution, my girlfriend, secure horizons. Leftover crack- born to die, clear channel, gay rude boys Less than Jake- boring town, city of gainseville, overrated, science of selling yourself short, really another ban you want everything you find. MXPX- responsibility, good friends are hard to find, punk rock show. Rancid- one of my most influential bands by far an id say download everything. Maxwell murder, dope sick girl, time bomb, fall back down, out of control, red hot moon, roots radicals, ruby soho. Star fucking hipsters- immigrants and hypocrites, only sleep, two cups of tea, 9/11 was an inside job. Street dogs- back to the world, Jakes, last call, not without a purpose, hard luck kid. Streetlight manifesto- every song Swinging utters- the lonely, outside life, troubadour, '39, haven't seen yourself in years, back to you. This bike is a pipe bomb- like defiance it's folk punk. Better off dead, drunk punk, body count. Tim Armstrong- wake up, hold on.....I enjoyed all of his solo stuff. Youth brigade- fuck you, alright then, reason why Alkaline trio- their agony and irony cd and crimson was pretty good. Operation ivy- must have over everything else. Every single track you find. NOFX- pretty much all the tracks listed above in my post Screeching weasels- another good band There's so much more and I want to go on and on but I won't.
Re: are there enough punk music fans to have an official punk discussion topic here Banner Pilot - Farewell to iron bastards Lawrence Arms - Fireflies
Re: are there enough punk music fans to have an official punk discussion topic here Lots of very good bands on that list. Guttermouth is up there as on of my Fav shows. Guys have a ton of energy on stage.
Re: are there enough punk music fans to have an official punk discussion topic here Bones Brigade @ Wet Willy's , Blue Tile Lounge R.A.M.B.O. - The War On Self Esteem R.A.M.B.O. - Kids Who Mosh Like Assholes Must Make For Selfish Lovers Bones Brigade - Evil Dead Filth - Today's Lesson dead kennedys - moral majority
Re: are there enough punk music fans to have an official punk discussion topic here So for the lovers of ska punk like me' I highly suggest you go to purevolume.com/havenots and download their album for free I've had it for a while now but just saw a thing over the weekend about them letting people download it for free.
Re: are there enough punk music fans to have an official punk discussion topic here Here are some hardcore punk/crusty ska/reggae bands that I like. This stuff is all definitely punk with ska influences, just a little different than your typical ska. I think I already posted some Against All Authority (first album) and Choking Victim/Leftover Crack earlier in the thread. That's good stuff. I know some of this stuff leans more toward metal but you guys should at least give it a shot. Mouth Sewn Shut - WW3 is coming with Lyrics Mouth Sewn Shut - Methademic Choking Victim - Living the Laws & Ska Rock Steady (hidden track) Leper-Wild and Free Leper - Sedition Not Sedation REAL REGGAE - NO!!
Re: are there enough punk music fans to have an official punk discussion topic here not bad stuff, not exactly my thing but not completely horrible where if someone was playing id be like change that shit. The first leper the first mouth sewn shut and real reggae would be the best of those i.mo
Re: are there enough punk music fans to have an official punk discussion topic here right on. I figured most in this thread wouldn't be real into it. I feel the same way about a lot of the stuff posted in this thread. Just not really my thing. I grew up listening to punk and still do, but over the years I started getting into heavier and heavier stuff. Now I listen to/play more metal than punk but really there is such a fine line between the two and they crossover so much. At least that is how it has always been in the underground punk scenes I've been involved with. I have nostalgiad many, many times in this thread though.
Re: are there enough punk music fans to have an official punk discussion topic here Some more post-punk; Public Image Ltd. - Death Disco Joy Division - 24 Hours ( Peel Session - 1979) Christian Death: Cavity - First Communion The Birthday Party - Happy Birthday
Re: are there enough punk music fans to have an official punk discussion topic here Super late on this thread Didn't Guns&Wankers change their name to Snuff due to legal reasons? If that's the case they had some great stuff on some early Fat Wreck Chords compilations back in the day. Punks my go to music. Going to see Guttermouth in August for like the 20th time and am debating between going to the Oregon vs Tennessee game in Knoxville in Sept or staying home to see Millencollin for the first time. I'm mostly a SoCal punk/ska guy with my favorites being Rancid Operation Ivy NOFX Guttermouth Social Distortion Lagwagon Mad Caddies Pennywise Reel Big Fish HomeGrown Cigar - From Eugene OR. Good Riddence Swinging Utters Buck -O-Nine Then from the rest of the country/world Bouncing Souls Less Than Jake Suicide Machines -Destruction By Definition is one of the best skacore albums ever Pixies The Casualties Reverend Horton Heat Reagan Youth Propaghandi Dead Milkmen Violent Femmes Whole bunch of others but can't think of anymore.
Re: are there enough punk music fans to have an official punk discussion topic here Better late than never and you musical tastes are very good sir
Re: are there enough punk music fans to have an official punk discussion topic here I have a tough time getting into most of the post-punk stuff that I've heard. I do like some of it though. The stuff you just posted kind of reminds me of Crass in a lot of ways. I like some of their stuff but never really got into it too much. Do you have any crust punk or d-beat punk stuff? Or would most of it lean more on the black metal side and fit better in the metal thread? No big deal either way, just curious.
Re: are there enough punk music fans to have an official punk discussion topic here I used to listen to these records constantly back in the day. I still love both albums. These are some of my favorite songs from them: Against All Authority - Destroy What Destroys You Walking Revolution - Destroy What Destroys You - Against All Authority Lifestyle of Rebellion - Destroy What Destroys You - Against All Authority Choking Victim - No Gods No Managers (their first EP too) Choking Victim - 500 Channels Choking Victim - Fucked Reality Choking Victim - Infested
Re: are there enough punk music fans to have an official punk discussion topic here New avenged sevenfold is really good. I thought the last album was just ok, but this one just bangs ala city of evil.
