Of course, sane people know that. I'm just flabbergasted that the insane can't put two and two together.
Doesn’t Bill Simmons talk about reading Conspiracy Reddit’s. How long until he asks Joe or Sal something about Bill Gates tracking chips followed up with “I’m just asking the question! I’m not saying I believe it.”
His explanation of pulling himself out was "Q said he that he hacked into and disabled FBI supercomputers named after the 7 dwarves and now everyone's computer has faster internet, and that didn't sound right"
He said it’s the only reason he goes to Reddit which is incredibly well adjusted behavior for a 50 year old multimillionaire.
Unbelievable that guys wife would listen to his crazy shit and be like “That’s nice hun,” and just go back to her crossword puzzle. I’d end that relationship with the quickness
So maddening. “The people that violently stormed the Capitol to overthrow American democracy aren’t the pro-dictator censors, the people trying to figure out how to stop it from happening again are.”
I kind of can. I’ll stereotype them by how they look. Most look like they don’t have anything of substance in their lives. They found something that made them feel superior. It’s probably difficult for them to accept it was all a lie and that they are in fact as stupid as they have always been told they are.
Its so fucking sad and really goes to show just how far the rot of the American Conservative movement goes. Family members just flipping a switch and cutting out their loved ones if they dont believe bat shit crazy conspiracy theories.
I can't imagine spending every waking moment trying to convince yourself that reality isn't a thing. It must be exhausting.
Ended up watching the 3 day special and I’m somewhere believing this might be someone in the Trump orbit that created Q to rally people around Trump. If not created it at the very least ran with it. Now I’m not saying the shit isn’t crazy but that they ran with the crazy to have idiots believe in Trump. I think there are too many weird coincidences to not think someone in trumps orbit isn’t or wasn’t involved. Hope that makes sense.
It's a pretty typical cult/end times conspiracy theory setup. I don't think someone in Trump's orbit started it, but they certainly capitalized in it. Alex Jones and the like have been pushing similar shit and managed to monetize it to the tune of millions of dollars. Once they added in actual religious end times good vs. evil prophesies, the popularity rise went meteoric. They have broadened it to include every conspiracy theory. It's become a numbers game. A choose your own adventure hodgepodge of cognitive dissonance.
Yeah the religious "end times" shit is very important to this stuff. Fox News was pushing "we're in end times because Damascus is under attack like it says in the Bible" 8 years ago. Still waiting on that one to play out. For a lot of people American Christianity has become a cult and it needs to be discussed as such. https://www.motherjones.com/politics/2013/09/fox-news-syria-war-biblical-prophecy/
I'm a follower of Christ and am in a science field so I find the Qanon beliefs to be insane from both directions. The religious stuff is a selective use of out of context teachings to provide cover for the activities of believers and leaders (this has happened in every religion to some degree). The anti-science shit is far easier to disprove imo but, when you combine those beliefs with misguided religious fervor, it becomes damn near impossible to move the masses.
Lot of folks are white Christian versions of those Muslim zealots that they love to hate. Like the Spider-Man meme but different shades of suit.
Reminds me of that line from Charlie Wilson's war: Joanne is, nominally, a conservative Christian. She’s an idealist whose motivations seem to stem from her faith, and she frames the fight as a “Christian imperative.” What does she say when Charlie asks her to “dial down religion” because he’s worried her God talk could jeopardize fragile partnerships he’s formed with largely Muslim countries? “I can’t modulate God’s will, sweetie.” Gust tells Joanne that he’s Russian Orthodox. “That’s still Christian,” she says. “That’s a relief,” he deadpans. But Gust is far more skeptical than Joanne. When she asks him, “You don’t see God’s hand in this?” he answers, “I don’t see God within miles of this.” In an effort to get an important congressman on their side, Charlie and Joanne take him on a tour of an Afghan refugee camp in Pakistan. The congressman, apparently deeply religious, is moved by what he sees and promises the Afghans aid. When the Afghans begin the Islamic chant that translates to “God is good,” the congressman joins in—in English. “I talk about God for one simple reason,” Joanne whispers to Charlie during the rally. “We need Him on our side.” “Sooner or later, God’s going to be on both sides,” Charlie whispers back.
the core of the conspiracy theory is pretty old https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Protocols_of_the_Elders_of_Zion
I don’t know what you’re saying here. Are you saying someone (Q) couldn’t have co-opted that to their core belief? I think I lie in the someone not directly connected to trump created Q but then the trump team ran with it with the belief that it would help him get re-elected. I am not arguing that it’s not completely bullshiit.
i'm saying this stuff has been floating around in the ether for a long time and it's probably a coincidence that trump of all people became the hero in all of it
Ugh. Yeah anti semitism bullshit isn’t new. But, Qanon and their bullshit is fairly new. Just because it shares shit with old bullshit doesn’t make it not “new”. It’s not a coincidence that Trump is their hero because it (Qanon and pizzagate) where specifically created to make Trump the hero.
if you actually read the Q drops instead of trying to parse the definition of the word new, you'd see that they're way too incoherent for this to have been some grand plan
lol okay my dude. All I said is (after watching the vice special on it) I think the Trump campaign or someone in his orbit attempted to use this shit to help him in his re-election efforts. You’re the one with the “these antisemitism tropes aren’t new” breaking news. Shit literally no one has argued.
I haven’t watched that doc yet but saw a lot of Anti-Q Twitter accounts were ticked because it didn’t do a good enough job of flat out saying “this is batshit crazy and can all be proven wrong.” As far as Q-origins on page 1 I posted the QAA pod where they break down it down. It starts with bat shit crazy Steven D Kelly. He claims to be an ex-CIA operative that has mastered remote viewing and found an underground metropolis built under the Getty museum. This metropolis is inhabited with over 100K mole children which a satanic cabal of global leaders uses to rape and feed off their adrenalchrome. He was planning to amass followers to “launch a storm” against this cabal and the Getty (even though there’s a secret nuclear bomb in the metropolis as defense). He basically establish the foundational Q-canon. He made all of this up before the original Q-drop. Between that and Q the Podesta/Pizza Gate started and people online linked that to Kelly’s theories. Then late 2017 Paul Furber posted the original Q-drops on 4chan and started throwing all this shit in a nonsensical blender. Russia was huge in spreading this to all forms of social media. Then the Watkins formed 8chan/kun (because their kiddie porn got ran off Reddit, then got ran off 4chan after they went there) so they could kiddie porn in peace from the Philippines. They convinced Furber to come to 8 Chan then stole his handle/log-in. Linguists have proved that the early (4chan) Q-drops don’t match up with the drops after the move at all, but the 8chan drops match up exactly with Watkins other posts.
I think they could have grilled the people better. Like the part about Dems being lizards and shit. Its like Christianity. If you're a believer, you have to believe all of it. You can't believe in Jesus and heaven and not the supernatural stuff like walking on water and coming back from the dead. Its the whole package. Q is the same way. You can't believe in the Deep State and a pedophile ring and leave out the lizard shit. You can't leave out that Trump was POTUS for 4 years and nothing was exposed. If Biden and Clinton were lizard pedophiles, it would have come out during the election. Call those fuckers out. OK, you believe in the deep state and pedophile stuff. Now what about this lizard alien shit? Let's talk about that.
FWIW the Qanonymous podcast people seem to agree that it was weak. I've only watched the first episode.
this isn’t the same as saying they all believe the exact same thing. Yes there are core beliefs (like with Q) but there are some differences. I found the doc interesting. I don’t know enough to know if it was poorly made,
It was interesting. It skipped over a lot of stuff and didn't call out the people for being bat shit insane. I get why they did it, they need them to cooperate and go on camera, but damn they were just like "ok ok cool." They could have argued their bullshit claims with facts and let them try to reply in real time rather than just letting it ride in person and then putting a screen that says "oh yea everything he said was a lie." Call it out on camera. Make them explain it in the face of facts.
