Lots of different threads with people discussing getting through quarantine while still maintaining workout routine and eating healthy. Figured could consolidate like some of the other threads popping up. I’ve just purchased 50# dumbbell, 60# kettlebell and a plyometric box to try and get some workouts in that aren’t all running and body weight. what’s everyone else doing?
Peloton. the app has weightlifting, out door running, hiit cardio, yoga and meditation workouts along the cycling.
I've had a home setup for years as I hate the hassle of actually going to the gym and I'm not concerned with putting on mass. Currently rolling with adjustable dumbbells that go up to ~77 pounds, an adjustable bench, pull up bar, few bands, and a yoga mat
Weather here in Charlotte is nice, still getting a 4-5 mile jog in daily. Also, I made this kale salad just now
C2 rower, weight vest for pull ups and dips at the local park, and dumbbells up to 40lbs. ought to keep me occupied for the duration Thinking of buying a haybale so I can go to town on it with the bastard sword I bought in Prague in 1998
Limited to a pull up bar and 15 lb dumbbells so running, pushups, pullups, bodysquats. Using the weights with squats and super setting the tougher bodyweight exercises with whatever I can do with the dumbbells :/
Wife is flipping her shit she can’t go to her cycling class. Peloton is about to blow up more isn’t it?
Adjustable Kettlebell (8, 12, 20, 25, 35, 40) 35lb dumbell, other random ones speed rope backpack with 4 25lb bags, basically use to replace barbell movements
Buying a C1 rower and bikeerg is better than peleton but that's just me, also don't have the monthly fee. Have both, they kick your ass.
Tore my first 1 up but this is 1 of the better pieces of equipment I've ever had. https://www.sanddunestepper.com/buy-now/
those provide a great workout, yes, but it’s hard to beat the interactiveness and variability of the peloton
Haven't been doing shit except walks with the wife and kid and I feel terrible. Thinking about using her resistance bands and doing push-ups
I miss my gym. My best friend owns it and a group of guys I went to HS with had a workout group. We are text chain only right now
yeah it sucks. found a new performance gym a few months back and am friends with all the trainers now and have been working out with them. working out at home is fine but not even close to as fun
Burpees, lots of them, if you don't want to run. I swam a lot because I get tendinitis in my foot if I run too much (which is still fine now) and they just closed the aquatic center I use yesterday. Just bought an exercise bike, but hell I really hope I can get back to swimming soon.
Have a decent amount of home equipment: bench, dumbells, kettles, bands, heavy bag, jump rope, foam rollers. Going to go on a “CV cut” and do some real high intensity 35-45 sessions. Will mix in 1 day of yoga. Will intermittent fast too. Hope to drop 10lbs. will jump right back on my bulk and heavy lifting when this is over
I don't really drink booze at home, or bourbon straight up ever. This would be as good of a time as any to start I guess ...
think i might just get fatter to give me something to do when the gym restraint is lifted but we’re still working from home
Been on 5x5 for a couple of months, still weak as shit, but not totally pathetic. Splitting wood for no good reason getting a bunch of plant starts going
Trimmed some dead tree limbs w/ the pole saw and surfed a bit today. Saw 3 other people in the water and we maintained our 6 foot buffer and bonded over Trump being a dumbass.
Today I bought an adjustable kettle bell and resistance bands up to 200 lbs. Going to turn my 10x10 patio into a "home gym." Pre-quarantine I would practice yoga almost every day, studio class 3-4x/week, the rest would be a 20-30 minute home practice. My studio and 2 of my favorite teachers are all doing donation-based classed via Zoom (badass app), have done that a few times, so think I can maintain that. I generally eat healthy, but my biggest worry is booze. Always going to be easy to excuse a few drinks with nothing to do tomorrow.
Got my Exercise bike plus a pretty good amount of dumbbells and resistance bands. I need to find a tae chi instructional video so I can do something to keep me calm in this long situation. Maybe learn meditation
Peloton for me. I am trying to keep my routine intact as much as possible so I am still getting up between 5 - 5:30 every morning to workout.
Don Saladino (trainer for Ryan Reynolds, Sebastian Stan, etc) has been going all out on instagram with body weight and minimal equipment program guidance. He just published a free 4 week bodyweight program last night. I have a few pairs of dumbbells but I also have some tendinitis in my elbow so I’m going to try the bodyweight program for a little while. https://instagram.com/donsaladino?igshid=15z6rdju08lf
