Quick question about Coldhands

    I'm about 1/3 through AFfC but I have a nagging question

    Is Coldhands Benjen Stark? I know this most likely won't be answered in FfC since Samwell is the only Nights Watch storyline in this book and he's moving to Oldtown. Is it answered in DwD?

    Simple yes or no answers or light speculation will do.

    i think he is, therefore he probably isn't

    but one thing that makes me think he isn't is: (don't remember what book this is in)

    even with his face wrapped up, thought bran might have recognized something about him

    should i unspoiler this?

    I agree with this as well. I tend to think he is someone older than Benjen though.

    I thought that it said he was very old, but maybe I'm remembering wrong. It could've been talking about how he got killed by wights/others, and I just assumed he was old :idk:

    In ADWD it is said that he lost his life long ago, but no reference point was given so we're not sure how long "long ago was"

    More theory:

    It is known that the ability to warg runs in the Stark blood. There are some theories out there that Benjen Stark was killed and then warged into the nearest wight similar to Varamyr warging into the one eyed wolf when his physical body died. That could mean that the wight was killed long ago and now Benjen is inhabiting its body. Not sure if I believe this but its an interesting theory
