Man I really miss his Hawthorne Radio podcast. Found so many gems through that. One of my favorite listens but he hasn't done many during COVID.
good morning sunday morning live at Nazareth church (‘65). they played freedom highway for the first time at this show which is p cool.
I really want to catch Verocai live at some point. I fucked up by not making it to LA the last time he was there.
Listened to it on my laptop and liked it. Listened to it on my big sound system and it's just delightful.
DOMi & JD BECK is out now. Anderson Paak, Thundercat, Herbie Hancock, Busta, Mac DeMarco features. It’s solid
i have been waiting for them to release something forever. Small YouTube clips just aren’t enough. Just so young but ridiculously talented. I believe I read they are signed to Paak’s label.
Gonna be in NYC next weekend... Khruangbin/Vieux Farka Toure, Badu/Phony Ppl, Nate Smith & Kinfolk, 3 nights of Mono (incl his bday when there's likely to be serious guest power) and Ray Angry and the Producers Monday thing. Had to bag Napa but at least I got this.
Have had on repeat. Great features and lets them work while being approachable for folks who’s otherwise be turned off by their shared weirdness
Show was ln. I was packing a lot in so I left before the end. They're a blast. At first if seems a little underwhelming - it's mostly instrumental obviously, and since they're all about the groove it kind of feels like there's no drama. But as the set progresses things seem to get funkier and funkier, and eventually you realize you've been satisfyingly head nodding for an hour or whatever. They had their whole light setup on point and there was lightning in the sky - it was all pretty awesome.
