Up 6-1 bottom 4th...come on no sweep!
if im Rutgers, i've already thrown everything i can at toal to give him an administrative position with an offer to take the 10th staff position once it opens up
they walked harris. good reputation to develop 3 games into the season.
top 7 up 13-6
edit to add that I'm at a bridal show bored out of my mind, sorry for spamming.
I just posted a long ass thread in the Rivals basketball board if anyone wants to read it.
Might have to go to some games this year to check out Harris. They really need to build an actual baseball stadium, I think there's plans for that somewhere online. Maybe the Toddfather helps out after his new contract.
Worked for Crazy Jimmy.
Those Bosco kids are so in awe of the man I could actually see him being a big recruiting factor. Lewis's QB coach would be a better fit from an X's and O's standpoint though. Would be great if he came in a mantz-like capacity
Congrats my man. I'm so glad I didn't have to go through any of those!
Lol they weren't cheap either
I don't understand how Thiam has started almost every game this season, its almost like playing 4 on 5
We are so annoyingly close to turning the corner in bball and winning some games
17.5 minutes per
.327 from the field
.301 from 3
Am I missing something? He doesn't seem like a lock down defender either. How does he get so many minutes?
Keep in mind he is a freshman and a 6-9 small forward with excellent length. I remember Kadeem Jack sucking bad his first 2 years here.
We have to develop these frosh or we will not survive. I honestly hope we give pike 5-6 years minimum. What he's had this roster do, to me, is amazing. I'm looking forward to seeing what kind of improvement we see next year. There's only so much coaching you can do last year in the spring and summer when the guys are so badly conditioned they can't even make it through your practices.
Sure..Jury is out on mensah but I'm hopeful he is a guy who can hit FT's, easy 2 point shots, and a great passer...We do need that badly. But gettys was a good grab. Omoruyi was a good grab (had a nice night the other night). The 4 star mamadou was a fantastic grab (I pray he reclassifies and replaces a transfer). Baker seems to me like a good grab (He's a scoring machine on a squad that could easily go to other guys to score..Yet they trust him in the clutch. Another 30 point night the other night). I'm fine with the recruiting thus far. This 2018 class will be a big test and we are in with a lot of 2019 names (hoping we get mulcahy).
Like pikiell said to the one guy I was working for while he sat next to him in the stands. He did a lot with a lot less talent at Stony Brook. Basketball is one sport where SOMETIMES you can get away with coaching up guys who are seen as inferior. It can at least get us to over .500.
Lax keeps rolling despite losing Charalambides and Trasolini for the year. ckl22 would be proud
Sitkowski to Miami..Fuck him. Let's go all in on Leary
Damn, that's a kick in the nuts.
sitkowski stings only because they locked him down before he visited us for spring practice.... I think we would have had a good run at him had we got him back on campus, now im not so sure
With another grad transfer on the team (plus ST addition at worst IMO)...that brings my schollie chart to 90 if every freshman shows up this summer...
Looks like Ash has some more Flood dud's to run off in spring
Thank goodness. Mitchell and Gus by themselves make our special teams a lot better. I don't mind having Hicks/Martin insurance. They can't get complacent now or they lose all shot at the nfl.
I really dislike how lazy the flood kids are
Ouch... According to Dohn, Sitkowski had been texting local area kids gauging interest in some sort of mass commit / staggered group commit to RU but didn't really get the response he was hoping to from other top kids :/ Sounds like that was a big reason he cooled on RU
That is bad news dor receuiting overall
We offered the st Joe's QB
Was at the basketball game last night. As flawed and untalented as this team is, we were within 2 of Maryland in the second half. How these kids can't work on their shots is incomprehensible to me. I remember being a fat, white 16 year old drilling 3 after 3 shooting in my yard. Granted it wasn't in a college game, but still. If 2 of either Nigel, Mike, or Corey shot 40+% from deep, then we would have won many more games this year. We just can't compete because we have NO shooters. And Thiam is such a liability, he's so bad and shaken during games that I don't ever see him being productive. I think we string together a bunch more conference wins with the whole team back (minus Getty's) and hopefully Doucore or a grad transfer becomes available.
Maybe sitkowski should've hit up some out of staters instead of the jersey kids..Lacewell, qadir white, bleich..Seems were doing decent with a bunch of nice prospects who are in the neighboring states
Fwiw I still think we have a shot. Miami is still targeting an in state guy at QB I think. If he picks Miami it'll be a new ball game.
great way to end the regular season - beating a bubble tourney team. maybe we can beat nebraska again at the start of the B1G tournament, followed by a matchup against a northwestern team we've played close. a man can dream.
Where were these 5th grade teachers when I was in school?
I first read this as "Where were these 5th graders" and was like whoa Teel wtf
No surprise but Ashnault looking awesome. Up 6-0 with over a minute of riding time with 1:00 left in 1st
Ashnault B1G champion 15-2 dominates
Riding time pushes it to 15-2. Just completely dominated. Will be rooting for him to make some noise at NCAAs in a couple weeks. Heil is a monster and is the clear favorite but will be rooting for Ashnault (assuming Pletcher doesn't face him but if that happens a loss is expected for us)
A Heil/Ashnault rematch would be
Gravina wrestled through a dislocated shoulder
Hope Brendan bucked that.
Probably our best recruit since Ashnault
Janzer won a state title too
I love seeing the way the wrestling program has evolved into a national power over the last 10 years.
I went to one of the better HSs in the state for wrestling (Southern Regional) and we had a ton of top wrestlers in my years there. None of them even gave RU the time of day, even though everyone knew Scott Goodale because he was the HC of our rival (Jackson). We had kids to to Pitt, PSU, Lehigh, Maryland, etc over Rutgers in my years there and kids would laugh at the idea of wrestling at RU. The main reason why is because in NJ you've gotta be a winner to build buzz, plain and simple or else people will always think the grass is greener out of state.
Goodale has brought that to the banks and he's gotten us to a point where if there is a top recruit in the area, we're gonna be in on him. Regardless of HS they attend or if they have a personal connection to RU or not, we'll be in on them. This is 100% because we've got a great, charismatic coach leading the program and results that catch the eye of wrestlers in state.
I definitely think this trend will continue with our other programs as well moving forward as we've been slowly but surely making legitimate commitments to improving our athletics department under Hobbs and the B1G. I see a lot of those same qualities Goodale brought to a middling wrestling program in both Pikiell and Ash, and I hope both are given enough time to accomplish what I think they can.
Goodale is the man, he knew being a former Lock Haven wrestler he was getting killed on the recruiting trail so he went out and poached Pritzlaff. Under recruited guys are developing and recruiting looks good. This was a successful transition year with only 1 senior, two true Frosh and some backups unexpectedly becoming starters. It's only going to get better with our home crowds and new facility on the way.
This was pretty good from a few months ago at some HS banquet
Well, former RU great Steve B made himself look like a fool today, only to be followed by our troglodyte fan base. Complained Ash didn't let him do Pro Day (nvm he finished playing 4 years ago). I seriously cannot stand ex guys who show up for more than one Pro Day. It is completely embarrassing and tells me they cannot get employment in the real world. People don't get picked up from a second Pro Day after a year with no football. It's really sad the opportunity some of these guys squander...Last week I tried to help an ex-player with rental housing. Guy works at Foot Locker and substitute teaches (no teaching degree). Impossible to help him qualify for anything. Like WTH...
You motivated me to finally fix my TMB account.
There was a guy, I won't say who, who went to the same HS as me. A few years ahead of me. Fundamentally a good kid, but kind of a dumbass. Kicked off the team by Gary for stupid shit but they still stayed in touch. This is maybe a decade ago at this point, it was one of my first jobs. One day this guy comes in as a temp. Super polite, does all the right things for the most part, but makes one stupid fuckup and he's gone. I think that must be the story of his life.
A few other random things, beyond the people I actually knew on campus: one time Nate Leonard showed up at another job early in my career. It was at a warehouse, and he tried to sell us to take a lease on another warehouse he was repping. I ran into Jabu once who was a financial advisor I believe. The daughter of a prominent former Rutgers person is pretty high up in my company. I once ran into Leonard and the McCourty twins at Menlo Park Mall. One time I was at a booth at a job fair at Rutgers, this was 2012 or so, and a guy from the athletic department just dropped off a stack of resumes for all of the graduating seniors. I don't remember who it was, but one of the DBs, he was a walk on who played a little ST I believe, was a computer engineering major and a pretty impressive dude.
And I think I've said this before, most of the male athletes I know were meatheads, but none bad guys, just 100% only there for sports. I'm including one famous guy here, and one other guy I think you probably know pretty well. The wrestlers at the time were pretty normal, but that's when our program sucked. A lot of the women athletes were actually really smart. Heather Zurich was totally cool and normal. There was this golfer you guys never heard of who was really smart.
edit: I was looking up my post history to try to remember who the resume guy was. Separately, I remember I sat on the bus once with Papa Beckford, really nice dude. Nate Robinson was a fucking idiot.
A timid Asian kid dropped his tray once at the dining hall and Kenny Britt yelled at him to pick it up, 5 second rule.
Being in college at the same time as Kenny Britt was a fucking treat.
I dormed in Davidson on Busch my freshman year. Not sure if anyone here has even been in Davidson (doubt it because it's a shithole on the outskirts of campus), but the dorms are shaped like an "H" with the middle section being the common area. I woke up one morning at like 10, walked out into the common area and Kenny Britt and Kordell Young were just sitting on the couch chillin'. Most random thing I ever experienced at RU. Still have no idea why they were in an all-freshman dorm (they were juniors at this point). Only connection my dorm had to the football program is that Eric LeGrand's old girlfriend lived there. So fucking random.
I work in the same building as Jabu and see him all the time. Really nice dude, seems to be doing well.
Aside from the brand new ones, I've been in every single dorm building on campus. What an accomplishment
Congrats on the sex
I did fire inspections
Somehow Kenny is only 28 and about to get a huge contract this offseason. Dude is gonna be broke or in jail within 2 years of being out of the league though. I'm honestly shocked he hasn't washed out of the league. On Hard Knocks this summer he flipped a golf cart ripping it around camp at night and somehow walked away completely unscathed and everyone thought it was hilarious, just dumbass Kenny being dumbass Kenny.
I don't know how's he's made it to 28 though. I saw him a bunch on campus both before and after he graduated. A couple gems I remember:
I was eating lunch in the Cook Dining Hall and there was all this hootin and hollerin coming from the entrance and lo and behold it's Kenny and a bunch of his boys. Kenny is in timberlands, baggy ass jeans and a wife beater. He and his boys start chanting some shitty rap song and Kenny takes off his shirt and starts spinning it around. He then just drapes his shirt over his shoulder and gets in line for an omelette like nothing happened.
This second story must've been from his rookie year in Tennessee. I'm waiting for the bus at Scott Hall and Kenny pulls up in a blacked out Camaro/Charger to pick someone up. He's leaning on the hood of the car and mean muggin until his boy walks over and they both get in. Kenny stomps on the gas and rips down college ave going like 60 in the middle of the day during a weekday. Moron was lucky some idiot didn't wander out in front of him.
terranova you are thinking of Wayne Warren
Not all athletes are dumbasses. Certain sports are more brainy than others. However, it's just sad the opportunity a lot of them have and they are too ignorant/dumb to capitalize on it. Employers love hiring athletes.
I will say there are a decent amount of RU Athletics Wall Street alums.
Yeah we are big on Wall Street.
Needless to say there were a lot of Britt being a dumbass stories. I think he may have gotten it out of his system though with getting older and being a dad.
I lived in the suites so I know Davidson well. They were a shit hole. The only good reason they existed was that the Davidson Dining Hall was a closer walk than Busch Dining Hall.
Anyway, if Eric LeGrand's old girlfriend is the one that Gregory Echenique also dated then that's probably why Kenny Britt and Kordell Young were hanging out there...
