Early NSD might make this a little tricky but I’ll post these as they come in. Jarrett Paul Power 5 Offers: 2 We beat out: Virginia Pros: Has the size to play any position in the secondary. Plays physical. Likes to mix it up at the LOS. Decent open field tackler. Great length. Cons: Seems a little stiff for CB. Footwork gets him unbalanced and out of position. Needs to be smoother in/out of breaks. Overall: His game and football IQ improved a lot from junior to senior year. I think his size, change of direction and speed make him best suited for a future SS. I think he’ll need 2 years to develop but he will probably emerge as an eventual starter at S.
Christian Izien Power 5 Offers: 1 We beat out: No one Pros: Has very nice agility paired with good speed. He is explosive with the ball in his hands. He has good vision and is patient as well. He can take it the distance every time he touches the ball. As a WR he’s not afraid to go over the middle and as a defender he’s not afraid to tackle. Cons: Very short for this level. Might be 5-9 at best. Not sure where he fits. Is he a good enough route runner to play the slot? Does he play big enough to play CB? Overall: He’s a really good athlete who can play on either side of the ball. I think he is fantastic and will play wherever there is a greater need: WR or CB. He has some Janarion Grant in him (tweener who’s an asset in the return game). He will be a strong role player here wherever he lines up. Good offer to improve depth.
Matt Rosso Power 5 Offers: 2 We beat out: Princeton Pros: Good athleticism for an OL, which is evidenced by his HS production on the DL. Decent size and very good quickness. Cons: Plays high. Doesn’t use hands well. Needs to bend better. No power generated from his hips. Overall: He’s a project. He is quick and athletic but a very raw OL. I know he camped but I am having a hard time getting excited about him based off his film. I think he has potential to be a contributor later in his career but I think this is a kid that gets recruited over.
Raiqwon O’Neal Power 5 Offers: 17 We beat out: Maryland, Indiana, South Carolina Pros: Great frame with very long arms. Really athletic and can really run for his size. Makes a lot of hustle plays. Finisher. Quick enough to get to the 2nd level . Cons: Waist bender. Doesn’t get off blocks that well as a defender. Needs a stronger lower half to generate more power on contact. Footwork sloppy in pass protection.Needs coaching. A little stiff and plays high. Overall: Lot to like about O’Neal. He has a great frame, great athleticism and is long. He needs to develop his strength (especially in his lower half) and his technique (raw right now). Once he puts that together he will become a multi-year starter here, only a matter of when. Very good out of state pick up.
Artur Sitowski Power 5 Offers: 26 We beat out: Miami Pros: Fantastic size. Good arm strength. Very quick release, he gets the ball out so fast. Can make a lot of different throws. Everything about him screams big time. When he steps into his throws he looks fantastic. Good eyes and does a really nice job of keeping his eyes downfield when stepping up or scrambling. Completes a lot of throws into tight windows. Cons: Footwork gets messy. Deep ball could be better. He’ll struggle at the next level with a rush if he cannot fix his happy feet. Pocket passer, not a big threat to run. Overall: This kid is a damn good QB and has NFL draft pick written all over him. He’s the best NJ QB I have seen in a long long time. He has a great combo of size and arm strength and his release is lightning quick. He has areas to work on (setting feet, deep ball) but his upside is 1st round pick if he can put it all together.
Kessawn Abraham Power 5 Offers: 1 We beat out: No one Pros: Explosive with the ball in his hands. Not afraid to hit. Decent open field tackler. Cons: Very small. Size is a big concern, as is projecting where he plays in the future. Defensive highlights didn’t impress me. Overall: I think his best chance of playing here is on offense, although I think his hands are questionable. He’s an explosive kid but I think he’s a better fit at the FCS level.
Isaih Pacheco Power 5 Offers: 8 We beat out: Pitt, Maryland Pros: Has a very unique running style. He runs like he’s angry at the ground. Good feet, balance and vision. Very good acceleration, agility and elusiveness. Dominated weak competition. Could probably play as an undersized S too. Cons: Will need to adjust to running from the TB position. Looked a little stiff to me. I didn’t see homerun speed on film. Overall: A lot to like about Pacheco. He has average size and lacks elite speed but he will be good at picking up tough yards. He runs very hard and has tremendous elusiveness and acceleration paired with good vision. I’m not comparing the two, but that’s how Ray Rice was. I think Isaih has a bright future here and as he gets stronger/thicker he can develop into a starter.
Jalen Jordan Power 5 Offers: 7 We beat out: Georgia Tech Pros: Runs well for a big WR. Great size and catch radius. Does a good job of creating throwing space on short routes. Cons: Doesn’t high point the ball. Hands need improvement. Doesn’t play as big as he should. Raw. Production on tape wasn’t what you would expect from a large HS WR. Overall: Lots of upside. Flex TE is his best bet in college and he has a high ceiling there. He could wind up growing into a full time TE but I think he offers some matchup problems as a flex TE. Once he gets two years under his belt he will help RU in the passing game and offer a large target in the slot.
Paul Woods Power 5 Offers: 3 We beat out: Wake Forest, Temple Pros: Displays really good hands. Adjusts to the ball really well, can snatch it out of the air and high point it too. Cons: Average size and speed. Competition looked poor and he wasn’t dominant. Really question his speed at the next level. Overall: Very hard for me to get excited about him. He has average speed and I think his tools limits his ceiling to a 3rddown possession WR or a guy in 4 WR sets who can move the chains. I would be more interested in seeing him get a look at S.
Zihir Lacewell Power 5 Offers: 5 We beat out: Pitt Pros: Great size and speed for LB. Good in pursuit and great closing speed. Good athlete. Great ball skills for a LB. Confident player who flashes nice potential. Cons: While his skills are good, I wasn’t very impressed with his film. Needs to tackle better. Needs to learn the LB position and buy into it. More potential than production right now. Raw. Overall: I think he has a lot of upside. Great size and speed for the position but he needs to buy into being a LB and more importantly he needs to learn how to play it. He has the size, speed and skills to become a very good starter later in his career but he’s not a sure thing.
I know I said I’d be with BPA rather than a fringe FBS DL, but I can’t imagine us taking 3 guys destined for TE this class
Still not buying Jordan and Robinson as TE's, a flex TE is basically a WR. When the Giants drafted Evan Engram pretty much all of his snaps at Ole Miss came in the slot. That's how I see Jordan, Robinson I think can play outside.
Matthew Thomas Power 5 Offers: 2 We beat out: Wake Forest Pros: Decent athlete and flashes good hands. Cons: A raw tweener who didn’t stand out against poor competition. Plays high, doesn’t really bend. Overall: I just can’t get excited here. I think this was a reach by the staff with a plan that he bulks up and can become a quality depth guy inside in a few years. I think that’s his ceiling but I see him getting recruited over.
Daevon Robinson Power 5 Offers: 6 We beat out: Baylor, NC State Pros: A very athletic guy with nice size that can translate to multiple positions. Has good quickness and good hands. Plays cocky. Decent job running routes. Can really run after people on defense. Impressive tape. Cons: Might be a tweener at TE. Could be a little quicker as a WR in and out of breaks. Overall: Robinson is way too athletic not to take. I could see him starting at WR, TE or even DE. He will play early here. I think he’ll start at WR and we’ll see if he grows out of the position. He can be a very solid possession WR or a real vertical threat at TE if he grows. Great pick up. NFL talent.
Deion Jennings Power 5 Offers: 1 We beat out: Temple Pros: Likes to hit. Decent open field tackler. Pretty good ball skills. Good athlete and good cover skills for a LB. Cons: Not a DB and has marginal height/weight for a LB. Doesn’t excite me on tape. Not fast now and he will need to bulk up, so concerns with how he plays with added weight. Overall: He’s 100% a development prospect at LB but you can see why they took him. His hitting ability and cover skills can make him a solid LB lining up in the slot vsspread teams. The concern is if he can add enough quality weight and still maintain the speed he has. Coin flip if he pans out. His ceiling is limited to a quality depth guy in my opinion.
Eddie Lewis Power 5 Offers: N/A Prep We beat out: N/A Prep Pros: Does a good job creating separation. Runs very good routes, constantly setting up defenders. Good agility and makes people miss after the catch. Cons: Very average speed. Body catcher. Overall: Lewis is basically a smaller possession WR. He is going to get open because he runs routes so well but he’s not a vertical threat. He will play in 3-4 WR sets and probably be a nice reliable role player at WR here. Think Quran Pratt.
Avery Young Power 5 Offers: 4 We beat out: Maryland, Army Pros: Great size and great ball skills for DB. Tackles really well and was highly productive. Cons: Barely any senior highlgihts. Not sure if he has the speed for CB, might struggle vs quicker WRs. Overall: This was a very under rated kid. I’m surprised more colleges weren’t falling over each other to get him. He has great size, great ball skills and tackles really well. I can see him starting at CB or S in the future. Excited about his commitment.
Jamree Kromah Power 5 Offers: 1 We beat out: Old Dominion Pros: Good length, great closing speed. Good first step and decent speed. Bends around the corner well. Cons: Plays high and lacks pass rush moves. Needs to be coached up. Looks raw. Getoff slow. Overall: Late bloomer who flew under the radar. His junior tape is him playing DT and TE. He doesn’t look like a D1 player in it. His senior tape he makes 28 stops behind the LOS. This is a kid with nice upside and good length who is learning how to play DE. With some coaching and S&C he can help us get to the QB on 3rd down and certainly play in the rotation. Starter potential late in his career. I like him.
Thanks for all of these RUskoolie For those of us that don't follow recruiting as much as we used to these are really great and concise summaries.
Jalen Chatman Power 5 Offers: 1 We beat out: No one Pros: Has nice speed for a QB. Quick release. Winner. Shows an ability to extend plays. Throws well on the run and can hit a lot of routes on the route tree. Cons: Weak arm. Short and frail. Ball floats on longer throws. A lot of his throws are timing routes or over the middle of the field in HS. Wonder if he can see that area at the next level. Overall: Played excellent competition and had video game numbers as a junior. Has good speed so can be a threat in the zone read game. Arm strength is very average but his release is quick. His size probably scared most teams away but if he was 6-3 he would have a lot of offers. I think he will be a kid who just works and will get his chance to shine here at some point (think Chas Dodd). Good offer to build depth and increase competition.
King thinks psu will find a spot..meanwhile they land the #1 player in the nation lol. Rot in Tulane.
hes a steal if we get him but im not too worried about it if he comes or not. we recruited well at lb and its another spot we can use to flip alaimo or bring in another DL. we are in trouble right now in a 3-4 d, banks was the NT and we need one, maybe 2 more guys there.
IMO we will switch bank to a 4-3 in another year. I think the staff moved to a 3-4 because of our DL personnel.
makes sense, turner is not an NT at this level. i can see bateky move down and after we lose wilkins and him this year we go to a 4-3. well have prev, turner, duggen, bordner, thomas and maybe a few TBDs at dt.
heres a question..why the hell did burnham decide to do the commit tweet for mimes the other day? Other schools could easily figure it out hence the late pitt and bc offers. The writers could have probably kept it under wraps for two days too (Sam was blaming rich and hunt for losing mimes yesterday since they just posted the news)..the strategy should have been to just have it announced on signing day (unless the kid posted on his twitter and i missed it)
I think it’ll be a QB coach. Doesn’t make sense for Ash to show his cards when he might have 3-4 coaching spots to fill, including an OC
So we signed 18. I know the magic number has been 22 but in the NSD show with Mike Quick, Adam Caultry mentioned we would sign 4-5 more. which is 22 or 23. If we assume Hillman is going to be 1 that means we have 3-4 spots left. We still need DT, presume McDonald and Sutton sign (I would be fine if Sutton doesn't) and just forget about Mickens and King, we've dropped them as far as I'm concerned. It will be an interesting 6 weeks. Hillman McDonald ??? (DT) ??? (Best available) ??? (Best available) That's my hope.
If true, Kromah isn’t playing until he’s a RS-Sophomore. He needs to add a lot of weight to make a difference inside
if harper jr works hard in the strength and conditioning program, he has a chance to be pretty good for us:
My neighbor is playing the loudest music ever right now. About to flip a shit on this fuckface. I don't know why I'm posting this here.
