But if not next year the pieces are in place for the year after that! Then I remember me and my father have been saying the same thing to each other about basketball and football for the last 15 years.
I don’t think Hoops was terrible. Idk what you guys expected. There wasn’t much depth and once a few guys got hurt at once it was a wrap. I look at the Big Ten tourne and there wasn’t one team where I thought, OMG that might be an ass beating. That’s major progress. I WISH I could say that for football.
Heh. I put up a post to lenparisi telling him to stop talking about his kid in the football threads. Looks like John O deleted it. Floppy pussy
A group of 4-5 Rutgers fans a couple of rows behind me were escorted out by security, one of them extremely forcefully by 4-5 guards.
The 3s they are hitting are frustrating as well because it’s always from half court, off their back foot, under tight coverage, wrong hand and one eye closed O and at the time when they need it the most
My wife just proposed that there should be a limit to the number of three pointers a team can hit in a game before the rest are only worth two.
Seriously, they played their fucking asses off. It just seems that any fucking schmuck can nail a 3 against us. I hope Corey sticks around but that’s a complete crap shoot. Eugene has really impressed me. Mamadou is solid if out of foul trouble. And Geo is a hell of a pickup. Gonna miss Williams and as frustrating as he is at times, really going to miss Freeman.
I standby this. Very proud of the team. Pike can squeeze every ounce out of what he has. He is building a young nucleus as well with Geo, Issa, Eugene, Kiss and Mathis. I think we go dancing in 2020.
a tough regular season, but a hell of a tournament. being at the garden was as fun as i can remember rutgers basketball being. corey was incredible for 3 straight days. he and the seniors will be missed. only 5 guys on next years roster will have played in the B1G tournament, and i'm looking forward to seeing what the culture looks like now that all of Eddie Jordan's guys are gone. I agree with Skoolie that 2020 could be the year if Pike can get these guys to play together at a high level. once corey declares, we will be left with Souf as the only PG on the roster and will need help right away.
Corey Sanders looked like an NBA caliber player the past three days. Was inconsistent in the regular season, but he really turned it on in the B1G tournament. Really proud of how our guys fought, now we just gotta hope we can find a way to... 1. Convince Corey to stay (doubtful) 2. Convince the staff to stay (probably a pipe dream) 3. Convince Souf and Bullock to GTFO (doubtful) 4. Finish this class strong with Hyatt/Strickland The future is definitely bright for RU BBall regardless of any of those four things happening though
We need to trade doorson for a true point guard (not this souf bullshit). He's a luxury and we really need a pg more than him. We gave him his four years on scholarship..don't owe anything else. Plus..Sam said myles Johnson is apparently killing it in practice. I also think we as rutgers fans should just spam Bullock and souf's inboxes and tell them to get the fuck out..grass roots project to clear roster space. I'm afraid my proposal would immediately be deleted if I said it though. It's not like they did anything wrong and the degree is most important to those guys..I'm just a selfish dick.
I'd be surprised if Bullock stays. I think Doorson would have options as a grad transfer, although honestly I want to keep him. I think Souf probably stays unless he's desperate to play at D3 or something. So I think we'll sign a PG to replace Sanders, maybe Strickland, and I dunno who the other guy would be. C: Doucore, Johnson PF: Geno, Carter SF: Thiam, Kiss SG: Mathis, Harper PG: Baker, recruit, Souf That leaves 2 spots. We'd definitely take another wing, would be nice to get Hyatt. Probably another big for depth if Doorson leaves, otherwise 1 spot for a grad transfer or straight up transfer in. The risk if you take too many 4 year players, you have less ships free in a year though. Where are the reports any staff are leaving? It's pretty clear Corey is gone, although maybe this run and maybe European teams aren't that interested? Douby leaving was a done deal after his sophomore year, but he changed his mind and came back.
i guess it's worth it if he wins a national championship. anything less than that is a failure if you choose to forgo winning a title in the best conference in the country.
There are no rumors yet that staff is leaving, but i think they all aspire to be head coaches and will pursue openings in the off season. i don't think Doorson leaves, but i suppose he might look at a kid like Johnson at UVA and pursue a roster spot with a contender. As far as recruiting, we definitely will need a point guard. after that i would predict the best available grad transfer scorer. i agree with your point about roster flexibility, and the staff has put a lot of time in with the class of 2019 already.
i mean he was in the quarterfinals..guy cant gut it out? And like sam said...lots of donors and supporters flew out there basically solely to see him go for that title. If he loses then fine..but to just say "naw im good im not gonna compete"...wow haha. Guess i'm just used to the days of standout athletes being tougher.
didn't we kind of sign up for this though? the whole reason he left psu was because he felt pressured to wrestle when he was injured.
The kid and his Dad are psycho. We knew what we were getting, this is how we managed to get him to begin with. RUseaweed2 apparently the reason we got him (as per the rivals MB last year) was that Suriano and his Dad wanted him shot up with something illegal so he could wrestle when he got injured. Pedo St doctors and coaches said no and the kid and Dad basically took their ball and went home. It doesn't quite add up if he just pulled himself out of the B1G championships, but either way I think that family is crazy.
Was told today Pacheco is pretty legit. Very strong and explosive and already added 15 pounds. He is going to see carries in the fall IMO and has the opportunity to possibly even start later in the year. O'Neal is also very strong for a true frosh. Looking forward to spring ball starting and of course Ash's cone of silence that limits as much exposure as possible (sarcasm).
I was kind of lukewarm on Pacheco until I watched full games of his senior year on youtube (offensive plays). It's cool that his team puts full game tape online. After watching I was sold, he has that X factor on the field that not many players have. He was a threat to score literally every time the ball was in his hands and did so in a manner that translates to D1 pretty decently.
So I wonder which of our players let that PoS juwan Johnson into our facilities. My guess? A flood guy since it's probably someone from the same recruiting year.
Agreed. it’s one thing to allow former players or nfl players in to the facility but Johnson still plays for psu. Side note it’s cool that Eli and Brandon Marshall were working out on campus
I haven’t heard anything else either. I can’t imagine Ash was happy about it though. Since players organize these workouts, coaches just kinda trust them not to invite active opponents to them. Sam said this is likely the last time Johnson gets invited on campus, signaling to me that the coaching staff wasn’t happy about it
