Jovic officially loaned back to Frankfurt for the rest of the season. Hard to fathom how poorly managed some of these new additions have been but at least he’ll be getting regular minutes again
Ødegaard to Arsenal for the rest of the season The way the youngsters have been managed is nothing short of breathtaking.
Hazard out. Again. For another 4-6 weeks. Club isn’t winning shit this season so it’s whatever in the short term but there are serious fucking problems beyond Perez coming down with Covid.
Didn’t fully realize just how bad Valencia are this year, what a fucking free fall. Nice to see them coast to an easy 3 points for a change, but Carvajal only lasting 25 minutes isn’t good
Benzema hurt and out tomorrow too which means only 9 first team outfield players are available which is v cool
Julian Naglesmann from Leipzig is the hot coaching commodity at the moment and has been rumored to be a frontrunner if Zidane steps down. Apparently the club contacted him back in '18 after Zidane left the first time but he admitted he wasn't yet ready for a job like that nothing ever materialized. Would be an exciting hire for sure but his system is based on a super energetic high press so something would most definitely have to give because Real's current roster isn't built for that type of style. Max Allegri would also probably get some serious consideration too. I think the higher ups have been impressed with the job that Raul has done with the youth teams & Castilla and see him as a future first team manager some day too but hopefully that's a ways off.
Sorry, not trying to give you homework. Just curious the perception around the club of what’s happening and what’s feasible.
Good question, not sure anybody knows for sure but they certainly lost a ton of match day revenue thanks to Covid. It doesn't sound like they're in any serious trouble like Barcelona appears to be but I imagine that it's going delay any major transfers until 2022. I don't expect any marquee signings like Mbappe, Haaland etc this summer. The new Bernabeu is supposed to increase revenue by something like $100M+ a year so hopefully any financial limitations will be short lived.
So a pretty important match this afternoon, and other than being without Ramos and Benzema and Hazard and Carvajal and Valverde and Rodrygo and Odriozola and Marcelo and Militao and having no first team right back and no first team backup for literally every other position things seem to be headed in the right direction.
lol was a hell of a shot but who in the world would have guessed that it'd be Mendy curling in a shot from outside the box to break a scoreless draw
I mean I'm glad they grabbed an away goal at the end but it's hard not to be disappointed with that performance given the situation. I understand that they're down half of the starting XI but it was pretty flat and uninspired in the final third yet again
ESPN+ is airing a Last Dance style documentary about Florentino's rise to club president and the Galactico era. First episode premiered last night but, naturally, isn't available in the US yet. Apeears to have interviews with players, coaches, club leadership, journalists etc so could be some cool insight into that era. Currently looking for a stream somewhere but here's the trailer
Have to get all 3 today or the league is probably out of reach. Nice to have Benzema back but really need Nacho & Vazquez to continue to play well and for Asensio to finally fucking do something to warrant his seemingly untouchable status.
He hasn’t been the same since he tore his ACL 2019. Not sure that’s all of it but certainly contributed to it.
Blew out his knee during the preseason last year and had to have ACL surgery. Missed something like 11 months and while he’s shown flashes of what he can do he hasn’t been able to maintain much consistency.
That ball falls right to Casemiro if doesn’t hit his arm, which is out away from his body. Have to call that
