just not good enough. Luka not putting it on frame, dumb VAR shit, then Benz not putting it on frame.
Will be interesting to see how much change there is this summer. If not for Covid and the extreme financial impact it had I'd guess we'd see a lot of these guys moved and squad given at least a mini-overhaul. That still might be the case, especially if Zidane does in fact leave, so we might be seeing the final moments of Ramos, Marcelo, Isco etc.
tbh I think how Madrid and Barça are steered through the next few years will determine their status for a good while. Remain the top two clubs in the world or fall off for a bit. So much financial instability.
It’s now official, Zidane has stepped down. Smart money would be on Allegri to replace him but there’s talk that Juve is going to fire Pirlo and wants him to return.
It’s the same graphic they used to announce Alaba. Apparently the club is saving money by cutting everyone in the PR dept.
Marca saying Ramos is now willing to accept the 1 year renewal that he’d be declining for the last 6 months so who knows. Also apparently the club is planning on playing in the Bernabeu next season while work continues. And Vazquez signed a 3 year extension last week which is good to see imo. He deserved it.
Wow can't believe he's really leaving but the club just officially announced a press conference for tomorrow where Ramos will give his farewell
Super sad about that one. It’s hard for me to think back and not see him being a central piece to this team. I wish him well going forward.
Fyi, that Galacticos documentary is finally on ESPN+ here in the US. I think it had only previously been available in Spain and South America
he admitted to holding out because he wanted a 2 year offer but his injuries and missed time/missing the Euro squad/Alaba’s arrival on a free meant he lost all of his leverage. By the time he had come around to accepting it was only going to be a 1 year deal the club had already ahead with plans that didn’t include him. Which for any 35 year old CB would have been the appropriate move but considering his leadership, accomplishments & what he’s done as a captain is still pretty surprising
Ødegaard was interviewed on TV and said that he’s been informed by the club that he’ll be returning and staying this season
I'm going to be really sad if/Varane moves to United. I'm going to be really furious if it's for only €50M.
Brahim back to Milan for 2 more years with a €22M option to buy. I’m sure we’ll be seeing a lot more of this in the coming weeks.
This is also very cool. I know each was working on their Spanishish citizenship in order to attain an EU passport but not being able to register someone/having to loan out Rodrygo would be a pretty wonderful development.
It’ll be sad to see him go for sure, but if he genuinely just wants a new challenge or to try something different then it’s the correct move to cash in now. He’s won just about everything imaginable in his decade at the club and doesn’t have anything left to prove so I’d wish him the best (personally, not club wise because fuck United) and start looking for his replacement, because I’m still not convinced that Alaba/Militao/Nacho is enough.
Sounds like Varane has officially been sold. A sad day for sure and unless they reinvest it in some effort to get Mbappe here this summer I’m not sure what the point was…
