Fuck yes. pnk$krtcryna$ty still waiting on that Jizzy Pearl biopic
Big Queen fan.
Fat Bottom Girls is my theme song
Oh boy does that look good.
Everytime I saw a side view of Malek I thought, “Oh wow, he really looks like Freddie Mercury,” and then they’d show him looking at the camera and I was immediately reminded, “ oh no that’s The skinny uncle fester looking guy from that TNT show I don’t watch.”
Wasn't Sacha Baron Cohen originally supposed to play Freddie? Heard there was some beef over not getting an R rating.
Still excited tho
He would have looked a lot more like Freddie.
Yeah I guess Cohen wanted a kind of grittier history and Brian May et al want something a little more feel-good iirc
That is correct, just not sure why it didn’t work out.
Would’ve been weird but he really looks like Freddie Mercury. If he pulled it off it could’ve been such a great way for him to get recognition.
Internet has to go and get all sensitive about it using nothing but a 2min trailer. Studio using the term “life-threatening illness” instead of saying AIDS and there being quick clips of “romance with women” and no gay sex
Movie looks great
He said in an interview that May wanted to whitewash a lot of the crazy shit they (Freddy) had done and, for some reason, Freddy's death was the midpoint of the movie and the second half was about their post-Mercury experience. I'm hoping that's been changed because its fucking insane if true.
Yeah that’s goddamn ludicrous
Cohen would have won an Oscar
That trailer Looks great. I know what I’m doing on my birthday.
Saw the movie this afternoon. Feel like it was a bit of a letdown. Malek was great though. Him reenacting the entire Live Aid performance step for step was pretty awesome.
Did not see but the one critic I heard was that it was rushed and felt like it. They really did not dig into the characters.
She was disapointed with the movie.
Radio guys I listen to watched it last night and felt exactly the same on all three points.
Yeah feel the same way. Definitely rushed. Instead of trying to throw the origin of each of their hit songs in, they could have focused on just BR, then more into the band breaking up and getting back together — leading into live aid.
They never broke up
Felt like a two and a half hour Queen concert. Which, don’t get me wrong, the music is great, but it just felt a little shallow. I was ready for it to be over by the time the Live Aid show started.
I botched that bad. Thought it came out next weekend. But Thanks.
iirc the surviving band members had no interest in a real substantive movie and squashed any attempts to do so
Correct. They would only approve a romanticized version so that’s what was made.
This is a pretty big take down of the movie and the likely agendas of the other band members.
man, his bandmates are resentful shits
Heh. All I'll say is that I thoroughly enjoyed the movie that was actually made as opposed to the one that wasn't. And going by ticket sales and audience feedback, apparently millions of people around the world would agree.
This is the same attitude that led to two decades of the Big Bang Theory
Heard opinions from both end of the spectrum, did not see it but my gut feeling from hearing what people are saying is that it’s an enjoyable movie but far from a masterpiece and not close enough to reality.
Jesus, what a bunch of cunts
Why did they hate him so much?
quick name a band member not named Freddy and tell me all about them
I bet hipsterjoe feels extremely stupid right now
you didn’t tell me all about them as per my request so whoopsadasies somebody really screwed the pooch on that one I won’t say who but it was you
I get it but not really at the same time, he made them famous and rich. Without him they never make it so big. I guess they don’t see it that way.
Because I was so busy hitting respond so that you knew I was quick on the draw
Brian May is such a back vocal type of name.
not sure what the rush is
this thread is about as popular as the remaining members of queen
For the record, Brian May has had a success perm for 40 years now
he’s also an astrophysicist and one of the best guitar players of all time but is quite the asshole
I thought Freddie Mercury was an astrophysicist and one of the best guitarist of all time. And quite the asshole too
it’s a common misconception but Freddie liked astroglide and was fond of assholes in the literal sense
Was definitely rushed but I enjoyed rocking out to Queen and that recreation of the Live Aid show was awesome
It isn't real life. It is fantasy.
I don't know if they really hate Mercury. A lot of it is probably just a function of the living members of the band being around to make sure they look as good as possible while Freddie just isn't here to do the same. That's what tends to happen in these bio pics when the subjects are alive and involved.
Oh yeah? Well how come no one got upset when Bon Scott died halfway through the AC/DC movie?
