I find it hard to believe that you find it hard to believe. Vets graduate with degrees that cost as much as "normal" medical degrees, but they make about a third or a quarter of doctors while not being respected as real doctors. They work long hours and are often on call. Many shoulder the responsibility of running a practice. They're around death... all... the... time. And the kicker to all of that? It is understood that choosing death is the way out of pain.
I don't understand the vet tech thing. They help way more than they kill and when they do need to put an animal down it's probably the most humane thing to do a vast majority of the time. Like any other job, I'd imagine dealing with morons and assholes is their biggest pain in the ass.
Yeah, there’s zero chance vet techs have “one of the highest suicide rates.” Vets I get to some degree, but I think it has more to do with its similarities to the other professions that typically have the worst mental health like medical doctors, lawyers, dentists, financiers, etc.
It can be but it can also be hell because clients can be ungrateful bastards who have no respect for veterinary medicine
Kinda jealous TBH. I'd get plastic surgery to have one put in. I'm Irish so no water bottle sized third leg to relax on.
Having dated a vet tech for a short stint I can tell you they don't get paid much and she was downright clinically depressed, not to mention crazy.
I spent $256.50 at my vet on Tuesday for my dog's annual shots and checkup. The entire process took 10 minutes. My vet also drives a $130,000 Maserati. So yes, your statement checks out.
