the honest to god truth is the term “pit bull” is often just a throw away term for dogs that look a certain way. I’ve seen those two breeds as well as American Bulldogs called “pits”. Pits are generally mixed breed dogs. I had an American Staff who was an awesome kind but very protective dog.
the problem is the asshats who breed them to be huge and scary, not the dog. if you want to sterilize someone get rid of them. study after study shows pits are no more likely to be naturally aggressive than any other breed. mine is afraid of our attic fan, for example (she is half pit / quarter border collie / quarter Aussie)
I will say she chewed up our TV remote again tonight so I suppose she is naturally aggressive toward remote controls
she’s awesome. super sweet, fast, strong, and smart as fuck. gets into trouble sometimes when she gets bored but overall amazing dog.
