What kind of habits we trying to build in 2021? For me: -25 books -write Goodreads and letterboxd reviews for what I watch/read. -keep up my training for climbing so when I can travel again I'm ready to go. -commit to cooking at least one super involved new cuisine/meal a month -spend consistent time on my art projects
Yep. I failed at getting into creative writing last year so taking a different approach by having a more focused approach to my writing and see where that takes me. Plus, I've never been good at articulating what I like about movies and TV shows and books in an intelligent way so will be good to practice that way.
The GOUT 12 thread used to have to be started new 1-2 times a year as it would get so big there would be loading issues. Those were simpler times.
I’ve always had the same problem with reviewing stuff like that but not with products, for example. I mean I’m not writing several paragraph or several page reviews on products either, but I’ve never really found a way to express why I like a certain show, movie, or book. I kinda think in a way it really involves one being able to adequately express their feelings. With a product it’s really just expressing how it does or doesn’t meet a utility, it’s normally not really an emotional experience reviewing a computer mouse, a keyboard, phones, headphones, etc. But reviewing stuff like books and visual media isn’t really about the technical aspect unless you’re looking at it from a technical aspect like an athlete studying film, for example.
Agreed. Plus, even when looking at the technical aspects, I'm not knowledgeable enough about those aspects to comment on them. E.g. I really enjoy the color and tone of Blade Runner 2049, but can't really do it justice with an accurate description in writing.
What kind of bagels? I had an everything with butter for breakfast and paired with a pour over Kenyan coffee from a local shop. /tweet
