Sitting at an airport bar and a guy just bought everyone sitting here a shot of tequila. Probably at least 20 people. Boom day.
Yes. Cats are great. Get a Maine coon if you can, they tend to be pretty friendly cats. And two is better than one, especially if you get young ones that still like to play a lot. That way the kitty can have a buddy to play with.
Cats are pretty low maintenance. Clean the litter box and hairballs, put out a bowl of food and water, and you’re good to go. Unless you get a rare one that likes a lot of human interaction, it’ll mostly be content with you leaving it the fuck alone.
Thanks for your feedback and questions - I have poor experiences with cats in the past. Cats my ex-wife brought into our home. I don't think I'm a good cat owner. - Thousands of dollars spent on multiple cats in the past when they got tumors, only to see them go through that surgery and shit and then it comes right back. Really sucks (for them and the owners) and really expensive. - Expensive. Don't want to put pets into the budget, having to make room for it elsewhere in the budget. - Don't want my 1300sq ft condo smelling like cat shit all the time - Final reason: The condo association doesn't allow pets. Sure, could get a cat and keep it secret from them, I'm sure other owners here do. But fuck it, that's the final reason I can stick to as to why we can't get a cat. and certainly a dog wouldn't be allowed. ALSO my kids live with their mom half the time and they have 2 cats at their house, so they thankfully already have some pets in their lives. ALSO my mom lives nearby and they have dogs, cats, snakes, fish, chickens, and who knows what else. probably guinea pigs and other random animals from time to time. We get lots of animal access when we go over there.
I have pets but I get the no pet thing. There are some fuckin weird people about dogs on here so don't pay attention to them
I married into two cats and love those little fuckers like they’re my own, but I think we are done after they move onto the great salad bowl in the sky. Between litter boxes, shredded furniture, piss/puke everywhere, etc, I’m ready to reset with the no pet life for a bit.
They shouldn't be pissing and puking everywhere I mean I've had cats for 30+ years of my life and this phenomenon never happened
Cats are stupid in their own way but they won't ever piss indoors if they have another option. Like Ever.
We have dogs but my preference is not to have a pet that actively shits or pisses in the house. So we don’t do cats, rodent, rabbits, lizards, etc. I feel it is a very fair compromise
sometimes if you change things up on a cat like move or bring in another baby/cat/dog/etc they will mark as more of a fuck you kind of thing
One of mine has done it before (neutered female) when I moved her into the house and when we were out of town for more than a few days. It’s not a regular thing, but it can definitely happen
Owsley hates this but I let my cats do what they want in the backyard during the day. They're inside from like 8pm-5am. It's not like they enjoy the litter box. Honestly it seems like they fucking hate it but ymmv Typically they are occupying arms of couches and chairs outside and inside of that time period though
My female cat has peed outside of the litter box for 10 years. (She pees on puppy pads scattered throughout the house.) I’ve spent thousands of dollars trying to figure it out. It’s not physical, it’s behavioral. We’ve had the Atlanta version of Jackson Galaxy come over multiple times and she couldn’t fix it. The end result from vets was she is very anxious and needs kitty benzos. I’m not pilling a cat daily so we just deal with it. But I appreciate the blanket statements.
You've spent thousands of dollars on trying to figure out why your cat is pissing in your house? Like how many thousands?
My cats always use the litter box for pissing. Puking, on the other hand, is a different story. Though they largely limit it to the room where we keep the litter box and food/water because that's where they sleep and chill 99% of the time. Only time they piss outside of the litter box is if they get scared really bad, just like humans will do sometimes.
