Sup guys. Not going to attempt tagging anyone since half the board ends up posting in here.
Only have the different thread icon to help differentiate until the other thread falls out of circulation.
Well hello new random thoughts thread. This is way cozier than the B&G thread
Here’s to another year of this thread killing the board
People who sit by themselves and read in coffee shops are weird
Looking forward to another year of killing this message board
This one is better
My first purchase of the year was a flight to Roanoke for the PSU-VT game.
Is there anything worth a shit in Roanoke #Virginia Tech Hokies?
Minor league baseball team, and a hockey team. There is also some outdoorsy stuff, but I can't think of anything that'll help you out much right now.
The Rose Bowl parade is on. I'd love to live in Pasadena. /random thought
Jimmy the Saint You're not going to stay in Roanoke are you? It's like 40 minutes away from Blacksburg.
ate some pancakes and grits at 6 AM this morning. Started reading NCFOM when I got back home
as I go back and re-read books this year, I'm gonna try to be intentional about writing down my favorite quotes so I can better commit them to memory and more easily incorporate them into my daily life
Hello at Random Thoughts Thread 2020 version
the post-holiday bender shit must be what child birth feels like
Yes we're staying at the Hyatt by the airport. No hotels left in Blacksburg.
Blacksburg seems to have even fewer hotels than State College.
Yeah it's gotten bad. Don't really mess with Roanoke so can't say. Hit up some of the VT message boards and they'll be able to tell you. Hopefully it's a night game as it should be and you'll have the whole day to check out the campus, downtown, and so forth.
A lot of breweries. I work there and live in Bburg.
Perfect, that's all that really matters.
AM radio, what’s up with that?
I always send people to The Homeplace https://www.yelp.com/biz/the-homeplace-catawba when they visit. Pay $15 (2 meats from fried chicken, roast beef, or ham) or $16 (all 3 meats) and they bring you out all the Southern food you can eat until you can't eat anymore. Gorgeous location, great food. Highly recommend.
It's about 20 minutes away from your Hyatt but you literally just hop on 3 highways (581 to I-81 to 311) to get there, not really complicated or anything.
Got a real good deal on the hotel, didn’t expect anything around being an airport hotel. This sounds perfect. Is this heading towards Blacksburg by chance?
you actually can sneak into Blacksburg the back way using the road The Homeplace is on but it's a one-lane winding road, much more of the scenic route. I would give yourself plenty of time for all of this to happen just because The Homeplace is usually busy and you're also going to be crazy full when finishing. if we get a night game or even 3:30, I'd maybe suggest The Homeplace for lunch and then you can take your time and casually drive in to Blacksburg and poke around before gametime. you really can't get lost too much, if you look on Google Earth or something you just stay on the road (Blacksburg Rd/Catawba Rd) and then you'd only need directions once you finally hit Blacksburg proper).
the benefit of this is avoiding I-81 traffic on gameday, which is shitty and that stretch of 81 is dangerous to boot. if you find yourself eating elsewhere or whatever, I'd suggest heading to Blacksburg via 460, which will take you a bit longer (drive through Salem, out into Shawsville/Elliston via 460 and up the mountains into Christiansburg then you'll meet 81 traffic and finish taking 460 into Blacksburg with them for the last bit) but it's a lot safer and virtually never clogged or slowed. sounds more complicated than it is, once you hit Main St. in Salem you basically just follow that into Christiansburg, merge onto Main St there then like a mile later merge back onto 460 and follow it to your turnoff into campus.
Man the parallels between Blacksburg and State College are incredible. That basically sounds just like trying to drive into SC. Pretty ridiculous we’ve never played each other.
I hope it ends up being a night game, Lane at night is a bucket list game.
we used to visit my dad's friend who was a VT professor
he lived near Radford right by the New River. Was always fun tubing there as a kid
Played Pickleball for the first time over Christmas with the family and holy shit was it fun!
But they don't have parades every day
I would buy multiple bottles of Zaxby's nuclear sauce if I could. Great flavor for a everyday sauce IMO
Love watching clips of this movie.... Definitely one of my favorite movies of the decade.
How good do you think Joe Brady is at Madden?
The most important thing I learned this bowl season was the correct pronunciation of VRBO.
A charcuterie board is just a way to get me to eat more food than I probably should without really realizing it.
I contend that’s not correct no matter what the owners say. V-R-B-O till I die.
I’m pretty sure it was V-R-B-O during the Citrus Bowl last year. I was there and do not recall them ever saying “verbo.”
Tik Tok is the worst. The absolute worst.
People that shoot celebratory guns in the air are scum. My sister's colleague died on new year's Eve from one when the bullet hit her in the neck.
Nurse in Houston died last night because of it. People suck.
Been off since 12/22, really don’t want to go back to work tomorrow
over/under on emails I’ll have to sift through is 125
He’s a 99
I'll take the over. I'm really not looking forward to seeing my inbox be massively inflated after a week of "working remotely" and now a week of vacation.
Can’t wait for my kids to get back to school, they’re about ready to rip each others’ faces off for all the time they’ve spent together
I took off work tomorrow, but I know I’ll be checking emails tomorrow
i didn't even know this was a thing outside of rebels/terrorists capturing a base or overthrowing a king or something
