Just started watching The Crown, I’m finding it hard to enjoy, as I have zero fucking empathy for any of these royal twats.
Well, I’m only through episode 2, but showing Elizabeth lovingly stare at Philip after he mocks the natives bothers the fuck out of me. The general tone damn sure isn’t mocking her troubles ascending to a fucking ceremonial position where she lives off of the commoners and colonial subjects
I think it’s well done. Fwiw they absolutely do not paint them in a good light throughout the series. I enjoy the historical aspects of it and just how fucking crazy and delusional the entire premise is. Then there’s this like mad men type of inter personal dynamic they just nail. I get it if it’s not your thing but just my two cents in terms of watchability for you moving forward.
Same. Also when they have experts critique movie scenes. She does one where she takes about spies where make up and disguises. Alex Honnold critiques rock climbing ect.
i just went back and re-watched that scene. They could not make it any more obvious that philip was being a jackass, and elizabeth glares at him, and corrects him. Ominous music plays, and the native chief stares at him i don't think it glorifies the royals at all, it makes them look like a bunch of arrogant, insular, barely-human sociopaths who are brainwashed from birth. Elizabeth sort of gets better treatment, but its clear she bounces back and forth between normal human and royal drone.
I like to look up the actual events on Google after the episodes so I can learn and see just how accurately they portrayed them
So I have to work today. Friday’s are always our slow day under normal conditions. Two of our four departments are closed. The third closes at lunch. What the fuck was even the point of opening at all?
i didn't serve 5 tours in the war on christmas to endure this level of disrespect toward the lexus december to remember sales event.
