Hardly. We had never even won a bowl game before joining the SEC. We nearly killed ourselves by going independant. If anything, yall saved our asses. We might be in the AAC today, otherwise.
The Sun Belt is basically the last vestige of actual college football. I love the fact it’s still a regional conference.
The MAC just added UMass back to the fold yet again. I live in Michigan and I can’t in good conscience accept this injustice.
CUSA is just a junk drawer of random programs at this point. Crazy considering what it was 20-25 years ago. Completely unrecognizable.
it's just a nonsense combination of old teams no one wants and new teams hoping someone wants them someday. i'd feel bad for delaware if they weren't almost certainly destined for better things.
I don't understand how they couldn't get Western Kentucky and/or MTSU over the line but settled on adding UMass.
Texas kicking the tires to ruining college athletics 29 years ago then down the road all their fans who attended Texas St ending up in the pac 12 is kinda poetic.
Probably the two schools most commonly represented by bumper stickers on the back of late 90's Jeep Cherokees in the Carolinas

WAC brand is dead, will become United Athletic Conference. Working phones now to get more info for tomorrow’s newsletter. Ross at Yahoo had it first— Matt Brown (@mattbrown.bsky.social) 2025-06-25T17:17:43.301Z
Louisiana Tech "lowering" themselves to sharing a conference with Lafayette and Monroe is very funny.
Yeah, I wasn't sure. It seems like Lafayette is ascendant right now. Particularly since I guess they've managed to stake a claim to being THE University of Louisiana, over Monroe.
