I loved the first game, like top 10 all time for me. Didn’t have modern console so I had to wait for PC release. played for 8 hours. Couldn’t get into it. Felt like a lot of work. Controls felt clunky. Haven’t picked it up since. Have too many other games in my queue and not enough time to play a game that I don’t enjoy. Thread validates me, thought I was the only one that didn’t enjoy #2.
It’s ok I moved on to cyberpunk 2077, which is more my speed so far. I’m also on pc so have some mods installed, not sure how that impacts things vs vanilla, but this is more my type of fake open world gameplay
This game is Ambien in video game form. Too much focus on horse testes being lifelike, and not enough focus on making the actual gameplay fun imo.
It’s not like this game was Battletoads or something. It was a very “easy” game to play. I understand people’s complaints about the game. I happen to disagree with them, but I get it.
Honestly I think part of my struggles enjoying the game was this. I don’t have a lot of free time to play games anymore, and I want to have fun when I do (or in the case of Dota2, enjoy hating myself for playing). Not only did it feel clunky and feel like work to play, but it wasn’t as easy as #1, which felt really natural and seamless to get into. Sometimes for games, I’ll even change the difficulty so I can get through hard or annoying missions/parts of the game so I can get to the parts that I enjoy. I don’t think it’s a “bad” game, I just didn’t enjoy playing it.
I just think Rockstar has had trouble adjusting to the current era of open world gaming, where we are flooded with open world games. My opinion is that they haven't evolved their character mechanics and controls enough to make their experiences fun and unique.
They also DGAF about RDR2 because they’re too busy constantly updating GTA to keep it awesome. Assholes.
I agree. Console has a learning curve to the controls that seems like it's because they're trying to do too much with some of the advanced mechanics that I guess online/PVP type of players could use, and no clue how well they translate to PC version.
Rockstar open world > Ubisoft (Far Cry, AC, etc) the game may not be for everyone, but at least there’s a certain amount of care put into developing the world and side quests/nuances
I haven't played the game in months but holy shit at the venom. The game is amazing visually and the game play was B+. The story mode was pretty damn good too. The vastness of the open world is ridiculous.
Look guys, it’s ok that you all like boring video games because they’re pretty. That’s cool bros some people just don’t like fun. Hell, Boyd Crowder has 977 platinum PlayStation trophies and I bet he didn’t like probably 800 of those games. Some folk just need a horse, a saddle and log cabin building mini game and they’re happy as pigs in shit.
You can’t have a log cabin… which is one of my biggest complaints with online. Would love to have a little homestead to come back to after robbing everybody’s pelts
Lol. I didn’t even attempt to platinum RDR2, either. Having to get gold medals on all the missions and then grinding online sounded like hell. Still does, tbh.
the best part of this game was when multiplayer launched and Corch rv12 Sean Connery and myself spent hours lassoing and dragging each other behind our horses i had a lot of fun playing this when it first released. rly wish it had multiplayer capabilities at initial release bc that it would've been awesome getting into random gunfights with other players as you're out hunting legendary animals
On the heels of Rockstar doubling down on the new GTA, they are releasing 4 major updates this year for RDR2 online. The first is in a couple of weeks but the kicker is the summer update, which will allow players to purchase land and build properties, as a cattle trader role will be introduced.
Interesting. Thought for sure they had abandoned the online. Now if they would actually update it for current consoles.
It’s boring and monotonous but it’s like therapy for me. Sometimes I just go fishing for hours because I’m an angler like that
RDR2 is basically the "it ain't much, but it's honest work" meme. you know, aside from the the whole crime part of the story.
I just like to be left alone to do my own thing. If provoked by online players, however, I will follow them to the ends of the earth to kill them repeatedly until they quit.
If you don’t mind me asking, where did you see this? I haven’t come across anything on the forums, Reddit etc. These updates would be awesome
One of the Red Dead pages I follow on insta had it in their stories. Was a release from Rockstar. I’ll see if I can find it
They need to release this for next gen asap. I want to play through it again but I'm not buying the xbone version
Just listened to a book about the IRA on audible and thought the narrator’s voice sounded familiar. Turns out it was Arthur Morgan himself, Roger Clark. https://www.audible.com/pd/Armed-Struggle-Audiobook/1515942791
