My dude, everyone knows us foreign policy has always sucked, but I’m not going to start posting fucking Reddit posts from CCP mouthpieces of a dictator sticking up for another POS government
"Repression against his political opponents increased in 2021. His government jailed many of his potential rivals in the 2021 Nicaraguan general election,[13] including Cristiana Chamorro Barrios, daughter of former president Violeta Chamorro de Barrios. Ortega's government imprisoned others who opposed him, including former allies Dora Maria Tellez and Hugo Torres Jiménez.[14] In August 2021, Nicaragua cancelled the operating permits of six US and European NGOs.[15] Many critics of the Ortega government, including opposition leaders, journalists and members of civil society, fled the country in mid-2021.[16] After his 2021 reelection, Joe Biden banned the president from entering the United States."
Strongman Brian Shaw he generally supports but pulls for the Russian strongmen over him because he thinks Shaws 1,140 deadlift is just American propaganda.
Everything about the CPC "lifting people out of poverty" is ridiculous bullshit "growing without harming anyone" is bullshit his claim that the U.S. agreed with the PRC on "One China" is bullshit his claim that the U.S. has never invested in Africa, Asia and LatAm is bullshit his claim that the U.S. has "invaded Taiwan" is bullshit do you want me to keep going?
Yeah it’s all bullshit. Like, really. Totally. All of it. No need to post any more, he’s got it. You owned him.
Seems like a bunch of Indians getting horny about flights and trains getting canceled in Beijing (rumored coup). A few of my expat groups on WeChat are discussing, but I highly doubt it’s anything considering VPNs are working better than average.
May as well try to dig for info from North Korea. Rumors on Twitter are revolving around a military coup by the PLA. Not sure what that would really mean geopolitically, but it certainly wouldn't be out of the historical character of the Chinese, specifically the Han.
Feels like a massive misinterpretation of exercises in advance of the Congress next month. Or simply pandemic weirdness that persists. All the zero covid continuance has been in service of a smooth Congress, so upheaval now would be rather strange. Power can be strange though.
apparently just Falun Gong bullshit amplified by Indian nationalists. I guess the nature of a coup is that it’s unexpected for the regime but going from the minor grumbling we’ve seen about zero Covid to a full on coup without anything in between would be bonkers
Wanted to start a new thread so that we didn't have spillover into the Russia/Ukraine war thread. Don't have any great intel. While I was there I asked about China. The younger generation views it as an "when not if" situation but thinks its just going to be China blockading them and trying to sweat them out instead of a direct conflict. I got a range of responses including "I don't care what my country is called," to people putting their own stickers on their passport to cover the "republic of china" with "Taiwan." Alot of the Taiwanese view this stuff from China as posturing and say it doesn't affect them much. I also wonder as a westerner how much the media is trumping all of this up. One other person I spoke to said the Taiwanese Gov shields them from a lot of this exposure.
I have a number of friends in Taiwan that very much care what their country is called and despise China (and Chinese visitors to Taiwan)
Goddammit, Leeroy! https://www.the-mainboard.com/index...les-republic-of-china-thread-taiwan-1.183556/
It was great and it will hopefully turn into a yearly trip to see the gf's family as long as things are stable. Also I need to learn Mandarin and develop an iron stomach.
