If it was car trouble, I don’t know why he didn’t just get himself an Uber. It would have arrived in minutes.
I guess I haven't broken down on the highway in the new era, but do ubers just stop in the middle of a highway for a pickup?
I know he wouldnt know since he's not from here but I tell my wife and my sons if you have car trouble and can't get off the expressway just wait in the car because one of those highway service trucks will show up within 15 mins to help you and they have most basic things like gas, tire change things tools, etc. Plus they are able to block off traffic so cars arent zooming by 5 feet away from you.
Yup. Those State Farm sponsored trucks are EVERYWHERE. he also had access to the NFLPA player in distress service that will pick him up anywhere anytime.
id imagine location is an issue plus pulling over in a highway isn't all that safe so they may be instructed to not do something like that
You probably right. I’m just struggling to rationalize why anyone would ever try to cross that highway.
I did some amazingly dumb things in my early 20s that I wouldn't even consider doing now. At that age you just don't feel like worst case scenarios apply to you.
This would have been over if Shefter just said his tweet was insensitive and moved on. Not sure why he hasn’t apologized yet.
OSU Twitter also is populated by many rational, well adjusted people who surely will move on from this as well.
Schefter trying to make a move up that worst #Michigan Wolverines man list. The rivalry just means more.
After seeing that ice road situation we had a family meeting that we sprint into the woods in any breakdown situation - fuck the car. I don't know the logistics of where he was at though - was he trapped basically on a highway?
car breaks down. 24 yo kid who( like many/most at that age( thinks he is invincible and makes a terrible decision.
like CF said earlier it’s a really busy expressway because you have all the airport traffic, traffic coming from the port where all the cruise ships are, and you have traffic from FT lauderdale beach coming from there all trying to get to I95 so they can go to Miami, Palm Beach, or other areas of Broward. Also since this happened before sunrise it’s dark as hell over there since it’s not a lot of lights around since it’s not much in that specific area where he was at. it’s the airport, expressways and just greenery. He broke down in probably the worst possible spot iyam and his only real option was to call for some type of towing/trucking help and not be walking around over there. Especially in the dark. Just a sad situation of being at the absolute wrong place and a poor decision being made because he didn’t know his surroundings
Also on the southwest side of I95 is a landfill which is probably where the dump truck was headed. so between the 18wheelers coming from the port, service trucks coming from the airport and dump/garbage trucks headed for the landfill. It’s bad enough dealing with the shitty drivers down here in cars, just imagine being in the area that has a ton of large trucks passing by.
This is not the best advice. I’ve known two people that have died in this exact same scenario staying in their cars. One due to thermal injuries and one supposedly instantaneously after a collision with a distracted driver. best advice is to get out of the car and get away from the highway unless there are concrete barriers blocking your exit to the side
I don’t know how it is where you’re from but you aren’t just walking around and getting off the expressway down here by just walking a mile to an exit or jumping the side barricade. You’re better off in your car and like we said earlier those highway service vehicles are everywhere down here (thankfully). I honestly see them more on the expressway than I see troopers which is crazy.
I'm guilty of it as I was waiting to see what McLaurin would post all day as he's been as connected as anyone has been to Dwayne plus Terry is just an incredibly thoughtful human. Still think it's ridiculous we expect the people close to them to make statements when they're hurting the most. They don't owe us a fucking thing.
Didn’t survive the injuries from the fire after a truck smacked into the back of her civic, freshman in college , terrible tragedy
“FDR, who secretly had fucked up legs preventing him from doing fun everyday things like walking and running, is dead”
I’m not giving that shit-monger a click and I’m not sure he could really say anything that matters anyway so fuck it.
So he could have just tweeted an apology or posted a statement but instead posts a link to his podcast to attract more listeners. What a sociopath.
