Ernie Johnson is supremely talented and a gift. He's the only person that can lead something like this in such a thoughtful and perfect way
God damn, Jerry West and Shaq are both hurting so much. I'm watching the clips right now and it I really feel for those two.
Can we change the thread title to not give credit to the horrible fucking company. People like Levin are why our country is the way it is.
Jerry has battled with severe depression his whole adulthood. He just referred to this as the saddest day of his life. That’s heartbreaking man poor jerry
He was one of Make-a-Wish’s most frequent wish granters. IIRC, he was only behind John Cena, Bieber, and Disney.
This crash is probably the saddest thing I've ever seen happen in the NBA, and I've been following the league for 35+ years..
Magic’s announcement is the only thing I can think of and that’s because at the time we all thought it was a death sentence, but even that doesn’t come close.
That's probably true, but that had a little bit of a dark edge as to how exactly he contracted HIV. As sad as Magic getting HIV is/was, it was a product of his own wrong-doing. This doesn't even come close in that regard. Kobe did nothing wrong here. That stings a lot more.
I know Shaq is saying they were brothers and they were close and all, but it looks like the amount of regret Shaq is feeling over not pushing whatever difference they had to the side and talking to him is pretty overwhelming. he said the last time they talked was Kobe's final game, so April 13, 2016
He must have been naturally susceptible to it somehow. My experience has convinced me OD by insufflation is impossible
Kobe was at the statue ceremony in 2017 for Shaq. He probably meant the last time they sat down and talked about old times or something like that.
Yeah that’s what I took from it because he talked about how he doesn’t really talk to anyone as much as he should because he’s always working
ah that all makes more sense I guess. I have never been a big fan of Shaq really, but it's impossible not to feel for him. He's clearly struggling. Him saying that he works so much, is always busy, and jokes and laughs with everyone, then goes home and is alone with his thoughts is, I think, a pretty good description of depression. It's heavy to think of that big, happy, jovial guy with money and fame and everything suffering from the same exact kind of thing that any of us can, and many of us do suffer from.
The helicopter did not have a terrain awareness and warning system -- a safety feature which provides the pilot with information about the terrain, Homendy said. The NTSB recommended that similar helicopters be equipped with the system after a fatal Texas crash in 2004 that killed 10 people. The Federal Aviation Administration failed to implement the recommendation, Homendy said.
So Kobe didn't own the chopper? Zobayan, who also died, had more than 8,200 hours of flight time, Homendy said, and had been working with Island Express Helicopters, which owned the Sikorsky S-76B. https://www.cnn.com/2020/01/29/us/helicopter-crash-kobe-bryant-wednesday/index.html
How much you wanna bet that was due to industry influence? Especially in light of the FAA basically letting Boeing certify the 737MAX themselves
It could have been leased full-time. A lot of times, holding companies exist to own planes/helicopters.
