Some drug dealers also add fentanyl to other drugs—such as heroin, cocaine, methamphetamine and MDMA—because it is a cheaper option that can produce a high with a relatively small quantity, thus, increasing their profits.
A lot of the people dying aren't knowingly doing fentanyl. Dealers step on coke and mollie with it bc it's cheap and makes their shit super strong. But just a tick too much and it becomes deadly.
I’ve heard him discuss addiction and his drug use while making the Wire and you could tell he was still struggling. RIP.
It has nothing to do with the quality of the high. Fentanyl has a much shorter duration and produces a less desirable effect than the more sought-after opiates. Your last point is the true answer. It’s cheap, it can be sourced relatively safely from the dealers perspective, and so it’s used as a cutter to stomp on shit that’s been stomped on multiple times down the line. It’s 100% a product of the failed war on drugs and our disgusting policies. No smack addict would seek out a product that lasts for 45 mins and does virtually nothing but give them the spins if they had other options.
Omar was one of my two favorite characters in tv history along with Al Swearengen. He broke a barrier with the first gay Robin Hood drug dealer stick up man. And he had one of the greatest lines on the telly.
Have never loved a TV character like I do Omar. First time I saw The Wire, he took my breath away. You see new things out of him every time you rewatch the show. I’m devastated, which is a credit to Michael and his ability to transcend past a script and a camera
It tells you something about what a transcendent acting talent he was that while he was never an A list actor, anyone who watched any show he was in looked him up and followed his career from then on.
Last post outside of being disgusted by Tobias, it’s amazingly sad that real shit like opioid deaths are pretty much a non topic since covid and fake patriotism gained traction
